Aye, that's perfectly fine.

Backstory. May need another editing pass for spellings, I wrote it on my phone. Wanted to post it so could get to playing, Ill add it to character sheet and post that if your happy?

Greyson was born on Sarokoulo as the 3rd oldest sibling of 5 into a mid-ranking branch of the Carlisle clan. Although it is impossible to tell by looking at him, he is technically only half Sarokoulon, as his father and that of his younger siblings was a visiting Reclamist missionary from Aers. He spent his early years in the frigid Sarokoulon wilderness, honing survival skills and preparing for military service. During this time, curiosity about his father lead Greyson to learn about the Reclaimist faith. While he finds the more religious elements odd and off putting, he quietly supports the philosophical aspects of the faith. Greyson spent his young adulthood in a Clan Carlisle Void Marine unit, performing missions for the Clan, the Council, and hired out to foreign interests with the rest of his unit. During one mercenary contract he was severely injured when his void suit failed due to inadequate maintenance. The whole unit was disciplined for locking the maintenance tech in an airlock and threatening to space him, and afterwards Greyson insisted on learning to maintain all his own equipment, eventually becoming skilled enough to serve as an armourer and rigger (combat engineer) for his unit. Chafing under the restrictive nature of life in a large military unit, Grayson transferred to special forces work, and then mustered out as an independent operator, free to choose his own work.
Greyson arrived on Kakimides as part of a small group of mostly Sarokoulon mercs engaged as private security for a Academy sponsored Reclaimist humanitarian and fact finding mission. When fighting broke out, the mission began to shelter and refugees, especially MES sufferers and look for proof of any Humanity First war crimes or human rights violations.
Unfortunately the mission was too successful and drew the ire of a particularly radical HF faction. Realizing that these zealots were looking for the camp Greyson and his unit attempted to help the refugees and relief workers flee behind loyalist lines but were betrayed. Although the mercs fought a valiant rear guard they were overwhelmed and surviving soldiers and refugees scattered into the night. Greyson walked fought and bartered his way to the nearest port where he used his family connections to escape off world to lick his wounds and take stock.
Goals
Short term – Screw proving war crimes, find whoever ordered / lead that attack, and bury them.
Short term – I need to know if anyone got clear from that camp, especially Doctor Reyes and the psyker kids she was trying to help. What happened to the rest of my team? Try to find survivors and help them get clear.
Long term – Further the Reclamist agenda
Edits (multiple) for spelling and to fit established history better.

I like it. One thing to note is that the war on Kakimedes only started a matter of weeks ago, in late December of 3199 (It's now mid-Feb 3200), so it's possible that you were on the planet as security detail for a Reclamist missionary team that became embroiled in the conflict inadvertently. Otherwise, if you came to the planet specifically after the war broke out you would have been planet side for maybe a couple of weeks at the maximum.

Your goals look fine, so feel free to add them to your sheet.

A minor RP note, the Reclamists often say "Prosperity" in place of hello by way of greeting, and it has caught on throughout the sector to an extent that the two words are somewhat synonymous.

Odo advances to 3rd.
  • He gets +1 skill point (for non-combat, non-psychic skills) for being a Partial Expert, giving him a total of 4 sp to spend. I'll invest that point in Trade, taking him 1/3 of the way to Trade-2.
  • As a Partial Psychic, he has to spend (or bank) at least one point on psychic skills. If his Precognition goes up, he gets a free Technique, up to the level of his Precognition. If Precognition goes up, his maximum Effort goes up by 1 as well.
  • He gets 3d6+(3xCon bonus) HP, keeping them if better than his current total (otherwise adding 1 to his current HP).
  • Saves decrease by 1.
I think I'm going to spend 3 points to bump Precognition to 2. I can pick from a couple of cool powers that would help in combat: one that basically gives a target disadvantage on everything for a scene, and everyone targeting him advantage (to use 5e terms), or a power that lets me "roll back" time for a round, since it "didn't really happen; it was just my vision of the future".

Code: Select all

Class: Magister 2
Background: Technician
Foci: Specialist (Fix) 1, Savage Sorcery 1, Healer 1
Skills: Fix-1, Connect-1, Magic-1, Know-1, Heal-0

XP: 4/6 - Credits: 800

Goals
- Recover the artefacts left on the Vale of Tears (+1xp)
- Uncover more pretech truths (+1xp)
- Find the location of the Articifer's Vertices (+10xp)
With new XP, we're now level 3! :D

Having gotten back his Ithilien Cortex and established a clear vision for what his magic could be used for (growing dimensional apportation abilities to save victims from genocide), he's all about growing as a scientist-wizard and starting research. :) His growth arc is very woojy.

Level 3 means:
One new 1st level spell: Void Flow Scan
Two new 2nd level spells: Combat Shadow Manifestation, Doppleganger Manifestation
Increase in spells per day: 5 1st level spells and 2 2nd level spells
Three skill points: Magic-2 (all three points to raise from Magic-1)
(No BAB until level 5)
Hit points: 3rd level HP [1d6-1]=4-1=3[1d6-1]=3-1=2[1d6-1]=5-1=4
...I redid the roll because the first one was wrong. If you have a negative modifier, the dice need to be rolled separately so that no individual die goes less than one under the SWN advanement rules.
Savings Throws: Physical 13-1=12 Mental 12-1=11 Evasion 12-1=11
With the increase to Magic-2 and character level, his Savage Sorcery is now +3 to hit, 1d8+3 damage.
With the increase to Magic-2, he also is capable of the lowest tier of archanotech artifact creation.
At level 3, his existing conjuration spell can now conjure up to station-wagon sized vehicles that persist up to three hours per casting.
4 cubic meters per character level, duration of 1 hour per character level, up to TL3 sophistication.

With his new-found knowledge gained by reconnection with the Ithilien Cortex, his new spells:
- let him percieve metadimensional energy to identify arcanotech items, magical effects, other casters maintaining focus on a spell, use a skill check to understand viewed effects, (and perhaps help with research?) [Void Flow Scan, aka Detect Magic]
- allow him to expand beyond inanimate objects to sentient beings. He can now pull forth a copy of himself from an adjacent reality of the multiverse (Doppleganger Manifestation), which he does to have someone capable of discussing his theories with (knowing nobody else who can comprehend the conversations, after all). Having two versions of himself in one reality causes slight paradox (shared senses, shared actions, per spell) and the connection is tenuous with the other version popping back to their own reality if damaged (1hp, AC 10) or if deep focus is dropped. He has also discovered an alternate universe containing totally abberant lifeforms and developed the ability to temporarily pull these vicious monstrosities into our reality (Combat Shadow Manifestation).

This seems a delightful and exciting expansion of his dimensional-folding idiom. Folding our own reality to maneuver things permanently within it (as opposed to the easier temporary movement across multiverse options) is what his arcanotech research is all heading towards so far. With the GM's encouragement, he's also taking his first ill-advised steps towards extradimensional beings. :)

Code: Select all

Class: Magister 3
Background: Technician
Foci: Specialist (Fix) 1, Savage Sorcery 1, Healer 1
Skills: Magic-2, Fix-1, Connect-1, Know-1, Heal-0
+1 Dex, Int, Wis

Spells:
1st: Energetic Construct Evocation; Imprinted Whim; Void Flow Scan
2nd: Combat Shadow Manifestation; Doppleganger Manifestation

XP: 8/12 - Credits: 800

Goals
- Recover the artefacts left on the Vale of Tears (+1xp)
- Uncover more pretech truths (+1xp)
- Find the location of the Articifer's Vertices (+10xp)
Goals already posited:
* To discover pre-tech truths; no others could understand them.
* I must recover the artifacts I left on the ship - the Ithilien Cortex cannot fall into any hands but my own.
* That art dealer didn't know what he had - his painting contained the map to the Artificers Vertices and I will get it one way or another.

* Identify and acquire Archanotech (pre-scream items of exquisite manufacture understandable by only the most advanced 'scientists') or research facilities that may contain Schematics of such.
* Study found Archanotech items (p. 132, identifying to learn their schematics) and may also count as Research.
* Study the Webway Gates of Daphion, Paphos system. (Learn their Schematic)
* Build or acquire an Archanotech Laboratory aboard ship to support further advancement of his studies. (25K, then 100K, then 250K. p. 113.)
* Develop metadimensional pattern recognition within-dimension (Tracker Imp Token skill-2)
* Master capability for small within-dimension transitions (Slipsheath, skill-2)
* Learn the manufacture of in-system Gating techniques (Witchgate, at skill 2, 3, then 4)
* Develop science for portal-less within-system relocation (Staff of the High Gate, skill-4)

Silas's level up:
3+1 skill points, +1 extra partial expert SP he saved from the last level up:
3 SP to raise Shoot-1 to Shoot-2, and 2 expert SP to raise Notice-0 to Notice-1

HP:
Level 3 HP: [3d6+9]=13+9=22
Well that certainly is an increase.

Saves reduced by 1.

Edit: Decided to swap out Notice-0 > Notice-1 for Connect-0 > Connect-1 after all.

Re: Goals

I need to pick a new short-term goal for Vyrner. In addition, I'd like to alter his outstanding short-term goal from "find a seller/cargo" to "complete a trading run". It's an extra step for completion, but it's really what the goal was always intended to be.

I'd like the last one to be non-trade-related. He cares about the MES-afflicted on Kakimides; maybe something like "Develop a contact on Kakimides who can serve as our local POC for smuggling MES-afflicted offworld" or something. Given that we know the Reclamists are working on a parallel effort, maybe "Partner with the Reclamists".
