Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
Uriel, after leaving the room watches the party smash the skulls and grab for the robes. Deep inside he feels that those robes were used while commiting evil deeds and wants nothing to do with them. He readies his club; prays to his diety and prepares for the worst.
Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
Eldarial wipes as much of the water off of her as she can and then she returns to the alcoves, systematically going to each one. Using her spear, she pulls the robe out of each alcove and examines it, just to make sure they haven't missed anything. She finds nothing but robes with the sigil of chaos on them other than that nothing special is found.
She then sees if Rolfo (and companions) are ready to progress and in doing so, she follows.
Seeing a skull successfully smashed, Crow yells to Bronn, "Let's smash them skulls, we can tackle 'em again if we need to!"
The party continues to smash the skulls and the same thing happens as it did with the first with the skull cracking and the spirit flying down the south hallway and around the ben. The interest in looking into the water still exists for Aengus and Darvin but no skulls rest on top of the water and no illumination fills the room anymore except the party's torches.
Rolfo, now caught up with his fellows, looks into the crowded room to see what all the commotion is.

Actions? If I don't hear any other actions i'll push everything forward here tonight or tomorrow.

Crow gets a torch lit and keeps himself between Darvin and the pool.
Bronn keeps himself between Aengus and the pool.
Darvin concentrates to see if he can sense any tremors other than those of the party.
Aengus looks at the sigils on the robes to see if they match the sigil on the tabard he recovered from the chest in the room up above.

Seeing the last skull smashed and its spirit fled, Rolfo shrugs and goes with Eldarial to the next room, taking the lead with staff held out in front to tap at floors and walls.
While Burt leans on his spear and looks as if he might be sick, Heltel makes to examine Aengus and Darvin, one by one holding them by the shoulders and peering into their eyes. He shakes the rattling beads of his shamanic mace all about their heads as if trying to frighten away spirits.
Burt spits and squirms uncomfortably: "What you doin, lookin fer the devil?"
Heltel: "Door to the soul, the eye too slow to look away oft invites great evil within..."

Uriel, waiting till everyone has left the room heads toward the pool. There he pokes around, inside it depths, with his club looking for lost treasure or anything else worth adventuring for.

Sorry for the long absence...work, family, life and all that got int e way.
Ragnar protects the skull that had risen from the pool. He didn't know if it would be useful, but it seemed magical and might be worth something to someone. He'll wrap it up in one of the robes and sling it over his shoulder. He also takes a minute to examine the mosaics on the walls while Uriel pokes around in the pool.

Darvin concentrates to see if he can sense any tremors other than those of the party but he senses nothing.
Aengus looks at the sigils on the robes and sees that indeed they have the same symbol of chaos as the tabard they found in the chest upstairs.
Seeing the last skull smashed and its spirit fled, Rolfo shrugs and goes with Eldarial to the next room. The south passage turns west immediately and has a wide set of stairs that leads to a landing and then leads further down another flight of stairs. The hall then curves north and three more flights of stairs are found.
The wide stone steps run down to the dark-sand beach of a vast underground sea. Far out across the water, you can make out a golden glow through the gloom. An enormous menhir stands at the water’s edge, dark waves lapping at its intricately carved faces. Past the towering standing stone, a dragon-prowed longship emerges from the darkness, its hull scrawled with forbidding sigils and runes that glow a sickly green in the dim light. The ship draws to a stop some 50 feet offshore. The beat of distant drums and far-off wails of terror mixes with the quiet lapping of the waves

As he looks into their eyes he notices nothing changed about their eyes, by Heltel's knowledge they don't appear to be possessed.

When Uriel looks into the pool a skull pops up floating on the surface, it's eyes aglow as with the others. Poking around with his club through the wet slimy water he can feel many solid clattering objects. As he digs a bit further he hits something solid but unmoving in the middle of the pool.
Ragnar's too late to save the other skulls but when he approaches the pool and looks into it another pops to the surface. He wraps it in one of the robes and slings it over his shoulder without event. When Ragnar investigates the mosaics he finds the following scenes:
DM: If you don't specify otherwise I am assuming you have gone down the stairs with the leading party. Also if you are taking a Robe please claim it and put it on your character sheet. I've posted them in the treasure thread to be claimed.

Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
Seeing the skull rise out of the water this time does not seem to scare Uriel. He now feels sad. Looking over his shoulder at the mosaics that Ragnar is exaining he mumbles to himself;"these poor souls must be victums of foul play and now thier spirits are not at rest." He prays to his diety to comfort these poor lost souls and than reaches inward and grabs the solid object within the center of the pool."Lord, be my guide and protect me."
Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
"Aye. I think great evil was done and much sorrow felt within these walls. I wonder who these two figures are." he says pointing to the west mosaic.

Eldarial gasps and involuntarily grabs Rolfo by the arm. "What in the name of all that's holy is that?" she says pointing in the direction of the menhir. Frightened, she grips her spear in one hand and Rolfo's arm in the other.AQuebman wrote:The wide stone steps run down to the dark-sand beach of a vast underground sea. Heltel and Burt do not trust the skulls or anything to do with the pool. They follow after Burt, wary of their companions who have seemingly been influenced by the pool.
On seeing the standing stone and the approaching longship, Rolfo whispers, "Marth, Martha..." When Eldarial expresses her fear, he pats her hand reassuringly. "Passage o'er the sea, p'rhaps? But to where, and what fer? Let's be watchin for a moment until the rest comes down, and then p'rhaps we signal em to come ashore..."

Eldarial nods and grips her spear tightly, glancing back and forth between the menhir and the ship.

"Now what have we got here? It feels like a ring."Uriel rotates the ring in the hopes of undoing it from whatever it is stuck onto within the dark waters. Uriel mummbles to himself. " I must hurry and get this ring and rejoin the others. Surely it is not safe to wander alone in such an evil place as this."

Those down at the beach hear faint shouting and a hard smacking sound to your east. The only thing to your east is a rocky slope up into the mountain side with water trickling out of it

Darvin points to the rocky slope, "He's worse luck than me! I believe he's now over up that slope there."
Crow looks into the pool that Uriel just fell into in this chamber.
Aengus says, "Then let's get up that slope!" and starts toward it at a trot in his chain hauberk.
Bronn shrugs and follows Aengus, likewise moving in a clinky trot.
