Statistics

#1 Post by Zhym »

Do the admins have access to statistics about posts on the forums—e.g., total per month? I'm curious what traffic has looked like here over the past few years.

I don't think there's anything in the forum software that keeps this information (maybe it's wrong?), but Greg might have access to that sort of detail from the host company he's using.

Here's a quick stat snapshot. It doesn't outline posts but the more traditional hits, page views, unique viewers, etc.

Thanks!

Is January 2019 as far back as that goes? And that's from the host, right? So it counts visits and page views, but not posts?

I didn't know if phpBB had its own stat dashboard.

Yes, that's how far this one chart goes. I think I can get info going further back, but this is from a quick glance at the C-Panel. So yes, this is from the hosting provider and not phpBB, which I think does not have a stat dashboard (besides the stats at the bottom of the home page).

Are the increased hits and bandwidth for August 2019 related to the massive influx in spam accounts that seems to be happening?

The influx in spam accounts, and attempting to post, is definitely happening. :(
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

But never fear, dear players and DMs. You'll never see these posts on the site, completely because of our two-post approval rule. The SPAM posts never see the light of the Unseen Servant's eye.

Please. Don't try to tip us. It's what we're paid to do.

Which only seems to attract more spammers. It's a self-sustaining cycle.

That and the occasional pat on the head from the members. ;)
I wonder at the recent uptick in spammers though. I know that there's legislation to do something about spam phone calls (bastages), maybe they're getting nervous?? Either way the attempts are ridiculous and obvious botty/cut & paste/childish.
