Round Two

Sabyllos calls out to the goblins that they are surrounded, and to drop their weapons.

The goblin eyes go wide, and they scatter, diving for hiding places like rats trying to avoid the light. While most of them do a good job of disappearing, you can clearly see one of them hunched over, racing back toward the cavern the goblins originally came from.

Actions?

Rolls/Notes

Goblin insight[1d20-1] = 6-1 = 5

url=http://www.unseenservant.com/default.as ... 35&macid=0]Stealth:[1d20+6] = 12+6 = 18[1d20+6] = 9+6 = 15[1d20+6] = 9+6 = 15[1d20+6] = 4+6 = 10[1d20+6] = 19+6 = 25[/url]

Technically, the goblins, convinced they were surrounded, moved, as needed to find hiding places, then used bonus actions to hide.

For stealth, here's what I'll do...

You can see the one goblin whose stealth is lower than your passive perception, now.

Any moving/attacking goblins expose themselves to possibly being seen, so you get a free perception roll you can make in anticipation of this.

If you spend your action to look, you can roll to try to see any non- moving/ attacking goblins.

Hidden in the dark, Sabyllos hopes no one can see him blush as the goblins scatter. Of course they would do that! Humans would clump together, but a goblin's first and last instinct is to hide. He supposes he needs to double down on his tactic.

Turning his head again, he calls out, "Hiding is of no avail! Our eyes are still upon you! Step forward and answer our questions, or we will root you out and teach you obedience!"

He hopes that sounds sufficiently intimidating.

Intimidation [1d20+5] = 20+5 = 25 !!!

Ornthalas Venlen

Sighing as he sees one of the goblins run, Ornthalas quickly fires off another crossbow bolt at him, but it sails harmlessly wide.

Thoril urges "We need to hurry - they are getting help..." referring to the one that ran back the way they came.

Seeing Ornthalas' bolt go wide, Sabyllos targets the running goblin with an eldritch bolt.
It also misses.

Raknar

Raknar sends a crossbolt bolt after the fleeing goblin.

Hand Crossbow: [1d20+6] = 7+6 = 13, Damage: [1d6+2] = 6+2 = 8

Birbal will attempt to give chase after the fleeing goblin, using the walls of the tunnel parkour style to cut whatever distance he can. If the opportunity presents itself, he will try and grab a small rock from off the ground to fling at the goblin.

Seeing the entire party fire upon the fleeing goblin, Sabyllos hopes that the effect is of an overwhelming hidden force, an serves to further intimidate the hidden goblins. And not as evidence that the party can't hit the broad side of a barn.

The one fleeing goblin it taken down by the concentrated fire of the party. Birbal is upon the goblin before it has even stopped breathing, but it dies moments later.

The other goblins, however, seem to be gone. After a bit, in the distance, you hear a few "yips", which seem to grow farther away. The goblins have fled the scene!

The two bodies reveal little of interest. The goblins have wicked looking scimitars and shortbows, as well as some pretty ragged (and small) leather armor, if you want them.

Onward...?

Note: For the ambush, and killing the fleeing goblin, you guys earn 4 shadow points each. See the shadow section of the house rules for more on this.

Sabyllos shakes his head. "That was a bit of a bungle, wasn't it? Well, let's make up for lost time and head onwards. And maybe, along the way, we can hash out some elementary rules of engagement."

The young half-elf begins trying to talk tactics, but anyone with any filed experience will immediately realize that this is someone who has read more than he has seen.
