Hey gang,

Welcome to the game.

Character Creation is here: viewtopic.php?f=793&t=8587

House Rules are here: viewtopic.php?f=793&t=8588

Both are designed to emulate Middle Earth.

More to come!

Are you cool with a text character sheet (example), or do you prefer we use the character sheet from the die roller?

Die roller sheet please. I can find things faster on it.

Okay, gang. The forum is mostly up.

I figure we'll spend about a week on character sheets, and then I can launch the game on or after the 4th of July. :)

That'll give me some extra time to try and watch as much of the trilogy as I can.

My guy is shaping up nicely. He'll be an interesting one.

Dig the Theoden quote re shields splintered. He’s one of my favorite characters in the books!
Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn. Forth, Eorlingas!

What can men do against such reckless hate? Hail, the victorious dead! Arise, riders of Theoden!

Yeah, Theoden and Gandalf get some pretty great lines. Plus they have the added benefit of being among the few main characters who die. :)

Isn't anyone else even the slightest bit worried about the title of this game?

Doesn't sound too good for the PC's.

Yeah but Théoden dies for real! :D I love the fact that Théoden had to come out of a pretty long-term, oppressive enchantment, to find out the horrors of what has happened while he's been out of it, and to (almost prophetically) realize, considering the epicness of what's coming, what will likely happen to him. And yet still he man's up, leads his people and he leads not only passionately but with his head. When Éomer takes over, he leads completely passionately at first. I've always enjoyed Théoden as a leader though, I would say his character should have been treated more importantly in the books, but I feel like it was just right.

I have 55 minutes remaining of The Fellowship of the Ring. Staying up to finish it will keep me up until close to 1:30am, which is actually about in line with when I'm normally calling it a night, so I will most likely be finishing the first part of the trilogy tonight.

Finally.

Next up, The Two Towers.

Ummm... less than five minutes after posting this, Gandalf had his 'You shall not pass' moment.

Then he gives the best D&D advice ever that players (at least for old school players) don’t follow enough: Fly, you fools!

Awesome, Dave. How I envy you. :) You're about to watch The Two Towers for the first time ever.
It's my favorite of the trilogy, hands down.

Ahh, very exciting! I'm thinking I can knock it out over the course of two nights, so I should be able to finish it over the weekend. Then on to part three.

I had my doubts when this game first launched, but there's a decent chance I'll be able to finish the entire trilogy before the game officially starts.

If all this game accomplishes is to get you to watch LOTR for the first time, it will exceed my wildest expectations.

Hey gang,
PCs are listed below. The majority of the sheets are final.

A few things for this week:

1) Please create a marching order, for 10' wide paths and 5' wide paths. Thanks.

2) Please review each others' sheets. Your characters will know each other for at least a week when the game begins.

3) Please finalize decisions on pre-existing relationships and other bonds friendships, especially with those the same race as you.

Still targeting a Thursday launch. Failing that, it'll be Tuesday, due to the holiday weekend.

That's it. Thanks!
