Farmanus the Unneeded

"Thanks you, Bruisely!" bellows Farmanus, his underclothes in bloody tatters.

If he can do it without hitting any of his friends, the uber strain human will throw his spear at the remaining bug and pick up the dropped shortsword.

Initiative [1d20+3] = 11+3 = 14
Thrown spear [1d20+3] = 8+3 = 11
Damage [1d8+3] = 2+3 = 5

OoC: Where in the MCC handbook can one find damage output for standard melee weapons?

Tunnel Complex, 300D/81 (Morning)

Combat, Round 6

  • ~ Frank, Belial and MacMak all miss their free attacks as the lone Scavenger (#8) withdraws from battle and escapes somewhere into the western side tunnel!

OOC: Its move occurred in Round 5. Using all of its actions for movement, it has a FIVE movement head start on the characters.

Kurot advances against the isolate roachoid (#4) and chops, twice, into its carapace! (3+4=7pt. dmg)

Denslow concentrates on his swing and rakes the mutant bug (#4) across its abdomen with his svetlegk! The remaining insectoid drops dead with limbs akimbo. (8pt. dmg – DEAD!)

Farmanus holds his spear throw when the creature falls to his two companions.

OOC: It was a miss and would have endangered Kurot and Denslow.

Silvestri leaves the side tunnel and watches for activity to the north in the main tunnel.

Action Details:

MAP:
Image

OOC: Bruce, MacMak, Urson and Frank may still take an actions this round.

All the bugs are dead except for #8 which is somewhere inside the western side tunnel.

Ron Spartan lies dead in the turntable chamber.

Excellent work. Now, we must find the body part so evilly sequestered from the friend we found. I hope the bugs are at bay for now, Denslow says, and after a brief glance at the bug at his feet, he investigates the back area of the terminal.

Kurot pauses to run a self-diagnostic, or at least visually assess and estimate the amount of damage to his systems.

He returns to the turntable area and collects the rifle rounds from Ron's body. It seems odd to him that noone seemed very broken up about Ron's death. Checking his own empathy routines to ensure that they are still operating within normal tolerances, he recalls that Ron did seem to be a bit more—distant? absent?—recently. Perhaps that is why the others have not reacted more strongly than they have?

"Excessive damage to critical systems has rendered Ron irreparably inoperable," answers Kurot. "That's him there, near our feet."

Tunnel Complex, 300D/81 (Morning)

Denslow enters the back room of the station stop. Various light debris lies scattered about and there is a metal door centered on the north wall. It does not appear to be locked.

Kurot performs his self-diagnostic routine and determines that his chassis has sustained minor damage. (8hp) He recalls the necessary repair procedure and schedules a session. (Self-repair die = 1d4)

The android returns south into the turntable chamber to recover the fallen cyber shark’s equipment. Frank helps him organize the items into segregated piles for review. Kurot pockets the pigmonn rifle ammunition.

MacMak offers a prayer for the deceased cyborg and considers what items would enhance his combat performance.

  • Sveltlegk Polearm (1d10, 2-handed)
    Pigmonn Rifle
    10 rifle rounds (To Kurot)

    Studded Leather Armor (+3)

    Backpack
    Bedroll
    Blanket
    Flint & steel
    Waterskin
    Repair parts (143sp worth)
    Trail rations
    Mirror
    Hunting/skinning knife
    Candles (3)

OOC: The autoblaster is integrated into Ron’s cybernetic system. His body would need to be hauled back to Hagalton and disassembled. Then, the blaster would need to be rebuilt for use as a stand-alone weapon. The cyber shark’s cyberorganic CPU and body chemisty provided the auto aim and power for the blaster. There isn’t any method to retain the auto-target function (extra attack die), and a power pack would need to be built that mimics cybernetic organic molecules.

Yes, this could be done with some cost and effort but in the end the attack die is only a d14.

Silvestri continues to watch and listen in the north tunnel. So far, there is no sign of hostile activity.

Farmanus peers into the open 10ft diameter chute that rises up and into the dark. He listens for sounds of activity but hears nothing. Both he and Bruce notice that the green slime from the “goo” grenade is beginning to dissipate and at the current rate should dissolve in 10 minutes.

Farmanus the Unneeded

The direly wounded human examines the bloody slashes criss-crossing his body and determines that he needs medical attention before any more fighting is done. At least the pain from his newly acquired lacerations takes his mind off the persistent throbbing in his multi-fractured nose.

"Without my armour, they hit me every time," he observes glumly.

He helps himself to a shortsword lying on the ground and uses it to prod the corpses of the insectoids. He wonders what else they may have been carrying.

"Is everyone OK?" he asks everyone and no one in particular. "We should regroup."

Hey Belial, can you smell this doo... starts Denslow, but when he looks around he notices that Belial and many of his companions are not with him in the station.

Where are the others? Why haven't they joined us? he asks Bruce and Farmanus as he trundles to the edge of the slime. I thought they followed us. No wonder it seemed like we were outnumbered there... he mumbles.

He calls out loudly, Where are you all? I think I found something but I need your help.

MacMak would gladly and honorably take the polearm, if thats ok with the group (ooc: and he have +2 to melee weapons, so it would be useful. but he have -1 in his 6 STR modifier, so i dont know if i would end up with +1)

Silvestri examines the blaster to see if he can work out how much energy was used in the two shot and try to guess how many shots the unit might have left.

Afterwards he heads over the those collected around the body of Ron.

"Poor Ron. What should we do with his body? We should try and put him to rest. Perhaps we can conceal it somewhere and return for it"

Belial

Belial gradually recovers from his half-assed berserker rage, panting as he calms himself.

He sees Ron's body and ambles over. He helps arrange the sharkoid's limbs comfortably and closes the mutant's eyes.

I'll see you at the Big Party, my dude. After this, he acts as if he can't even see Ron's corpse.

Tunnel Complex, 300D/81 (Morning)

With hostilities ended, Farmauns accesses his physical condition. The uberstrain human needs medical attention and longs for his armor and weapons. He secures one of the Scavenger’s short swords and uses it to search through the corpses. Each roachoid carries a mesh satchel with several small sacks and wrapped items inside. The wrapped items are chunks of various, unpalatable foodstuff. Inside each sack are bits and pieces of precious metals and various chunks of translucent colored bone (plastics).

He suggests everyone regroup and plan the next course of action.

Denslow finally realizes over half of his companions are missing. He thanks Bruce for the assistance and looks at the coagulating slime near the entrance tunnel (The slime has degraded enough for safe passage). Not sure of their situation, he calls out for assistance and informs them of a door he found in the adjacent room.

MacMak expresses interest in Ron’s svetlegk hoping he can improve his melee contribution.

Silvestri examines the blaster weapon for indications of how many ‘blasts’ remain in the weapon. The energy bolts are produced by a liquid(s) contained inside the device. He surmises that as the weapon’s mass decreases, so does the number of energy discharges. The psionist then solemnly regards the corpse of their dead cyborg companion.

Belial recovers from his combat rage and pants to calm himself. He assists the others in collecting Ron’s gear and arranges his body in a comforting position.

Frank moves into the western tunnel and stands guard against any insect incursions.

"Should we pursue the last bugman, or go see what Denslow has found?" asks Kurot. "We are in no shape for another fight, so I suggest we take whatever option will get us to Farmanus's belongings most quickly—and safely."

Silvestri suggests we rejoin the others and decide what to do. He heads off towards the station area and when he sees the state of Farmanus he uses his last healing on him:.

Farmanus the Unneeded

Farmanus smiles broadly at Silvestri and clasps him on the shoulder. "You are a nice man!"

He follows the others out of the room to join the rest of the party, sticking close to Silvestri.

Approaching Ron's body, Farmanus' expression drops and he regards it intently. "I never got the chance to give him a nickname," he adds wistfully. He bends a knee, touches Ron's chest, and mumbles a low prayer.

OoC: After a respectful interval, Farmanus takes whatever he can use from Ron - basically everything except the svetlegk.

As the companions regroup, Bruce learns of Ron's fate and bows his head briefly in reverence. Taking opportunity of the downtime, he also performs some self-repair.
