Character Generation
Re: Character Generation
Samsura's gold
[3d6x10] = 14x10 = 140
Is there any special equipment (weapons, armor, etc)?
Should we roll for starting oligarchs per the book?

Re: Character Generation
I've already rolled up the starting oligarchy (I've posted some information into the Google Sheet - see the Social Circles tab). Most of the PCs come from outside The Mountains of the Moon, so if you want to know more about where you come from, either you can make rolls, or I will (if you make the rolls, I reserve the option of changing things up if we ever come to adventure in your homeland).Modric wrote:Samsura's gold

Re: Character Generation
The character I rolled is from Sughd. Using the source book (pg. 227), a rolled up the following Oligarch from that region:
Sugdh Starting Oligarch
Trade Resources:
Tea and Opiates
Issues:
Bandits raiding poppy fields
Disease affecting tea crop
Assets:
Great Bazaar
Grand Seraglio
Major site of pilgrimage
I'm beginning to appreciate how the Yoon system works in generating the game world.

Re: Character Generation
Here are my stats for Gigyansh. I think that, despite his strength, he will be a magician. Low Dex and Con mean that I don't want him near melee. Plus he has decent Wis and Chr, he must be a lover and not a fighter!
Stats: STR:17, INT:17, WIS:14, DEX:8, CON:9, CHR:13
[1d20] = 19 for background Hmm, scion of a wealthy family from the Mountains of the Moon.
[1d4] = 4 for starting HP At least he's got the max for HP to begin.
[3d6] = 12 Starting gold 120 gp to begin.
Assuming that we get to choose our 1st level spell, I choose Sleep.

Re: Character Generation
I don't think I'm going to spend too much time on Gigyansh's backstory. He's a level 1 MU with 4 HPs. He could die in the first encounter!
Frank, whatever you want to randomly roll up for his family is fine with me but he's obviously traded working for his father for the life of a wandering adventurer.

Re: Character Generation
Here is Gigyansh.
He will speak Dwarfish as one of his extra languages. Would like to see a list of possible choices before he chooses another.

Re: Character Generation
For languages see pp. 296-297.
Yellow City Trade Tongue (the common tongue), everyone knows this
Sughdian, and the extinct Old Sughdian, a which is a poetic and liturgical language (although still the formal language of communication among the nasnas of Syr Darya)
Slug-man, which is a mixture of vocalisations, gestures, and emitted pheromones
Crab-man, which is a mixture of clicks and gestures.
Haludi, which is the human dialect spoken in the Yellow City.
Sauvi, which is the human dialect spoken in the Hundred Kingdoms.
Parbati, which is the human dialect spoken in the Mountains of the Moon.
Hayai, which is the language of the sea nomads
Lamarakhi, which is spoken in Lamarakh.
In addition, each dwarfish citadel had its own language, which in many cases was thousands of years old and had gone through several distinct phases of evolution. For instance, the citadel of Sangmenzhang had its own language, Sangmenzhang Dwarfish, which had an older iteration referred to by scholars as Middle Sangmenzhang Dwarfish, and an even more ancient form known as Old Sangmenzhang Dwarfish. This is common to most dwarfish citadels, though most of these languages have been lost.
Ogre mages also have their own language.
Beyond that, there are some monster languages though I have not yet determined the set of creatures for the campaign yet.

Re: Character Generation
So you should roll d20 on the Other Human table in the first post of this thread for background.rossik wrote:im from The Mountains of the Moon then

"4-7 Very low caste (born of a prostitute, vagrant, criminal, cockroach breeder)"
born of a cockroach pit fighter
Re: Character Generation
If we're from the Mountains of the Moon, would that mean the standard languages known are both Trade Tongue and Parbati?
If so, I'll use my two extra language slots on Sughdian and Ogre Magi.
