Sorry for the delay - busy weekend...
So what we have is two valleys running in parallel, somewhat like the Appalachians, though more rugged. You are able to find a decent saddle on the ridge line between the target valley and the next one over, where you can land the shuttle on a relatively flat spot out of view of the target. There will be more exposure outside the shuttle here, but unless you planned to set up a base camp around the shuttle, it will be a fine landing spot.
The one advantage of landing more in the adjacent valley floor would be a bit less visibility from the air, but overflying air traffic here is unlikely.
And crud, I'm out of time...
Let me know what kind of formation you want to take on approach. Are one or two folks scouting ahead?
009 - Approach the Ruins

Foix puts a comradely hand on Grimaud’s shoulder and declares “Boudin, you are not fit enough for this - I’ll not risk your brave heart traversing the pass! Remain here and secure the launch”. He leans closer and swiftly and softly adds something else* before clapping the portly chef on the shoulder.
He then pulls a heavy rifle from his carryall, clips on pouches containing magazines for it to his webbing and then adds a heavy box with a canvas camo cover to his load. Grimaud, now wearing look of almost fanatical determination, confidently selects and loads a sound suppressed SMG.
(OOC: Ana sees a SAW (autorifle) with both magazines and belted ammo for sustained fire).
He greets Vee with a smile and says “A fine landing my Knight! Grimaud, or “Boudin” as he was known in La Légion, with remain with you to secure the launch. We’ll call you in once we’ve secured the approaches to the temple”.
He then turns cheerfully to his comrades and smiles again “Allez, mes braves!”
Foix will lead off, scouting ahead of the group and moving tactically in concert with Ana. Once a vantage point at the end of the pass is reached he plans to stop and observe the valley before heading for the temple.

Vee settles the launch onto the selected landing site. "Okay, LOTs are all green," she says cross cockpit as she watches the landing gear telltales. "We're stable here. Taking weight off the grav." She eases the grav lifters to slightly negative lift to hold the launch securely to the ground. "Another successful landing, whoo hoo." As she runs through the post landing checklist, Vee hears Foix enter the cockpit, and she turns in her seat to face him.
Vee grasps Foix's chest harness and hauls him in for a kiss. "You kids be careful out there, okay?" Harper sketches a salute "Oui, mon Général" before sealing up her vacc-suit, grabbing her kit and falling into line behind the others.

After Vee and Foix have their exchange, Sara says"Looks like I should train up for another job." She smiles. "Maybe Grimaud can teach me how to cook!"
She gets herself buttoned up too, follows out behind Foix, and stays with Harper as Foix and Ana move ahead.

Ana seals up her suit, holsters a pair of pistols and loads her rifle, she hands an SMG to Sara and a 3 spare magazines.
“Point and click,” she says with a smile, “just like a computer.”
Ana locks down her combat webbing and shifts her blade around behind her back and steps out the hatch.
“Lets go sunshine,” she says looking at Foix, “try not to shoot me.”
Ana scrambles off down towards the ruins moving quickly from point of cover to cover looking around carefully as she moves for sensors and obervation devices.
“Point and click,” she says with a smile, “just like a computer.”

Foix certainly enjoys his kiss. As he moves away he pauses and says to Vee “Always, my Lady” he then adds with a smile “You must realise that I haven’t managed to remain this attractive for so long by not being careful?”
He replies to Sara “How could Grimaud not wish to have you grace his kitchen?”
Stepping back through the launch he returns Harper’s salute with one of his own accompanied with a warm smile as he simply acknowledges her with a nod and “Cousin”.
Then he loops his rifle’s sling over his shoulder and the weapon settles comfortably into his grasp.
Foix moves forward tactically matching his progress to Ana’s to maintain the option of mutual support whilst keeping observation on the terrain in the valley.
He replies to Sara “How could Grimaud not wish to have you grace his kitchen?”

The team quickly makes its way down to the valley floor and approaches the ruins cautiously and under cover as much as possible.
The team geiger counters are indeed showing substantial shielding. The vacc suits will provide additional protection such that being out here for several hours will not be an undue radiation exposure. The shielding is having an effect on communications, however, so far, your comms back to the launch are intelligible with some static and attenuation.
As you approach, you can make out the geometric maze patterns on the walls of the structure. The canine looking statue looming over the center of the canyon leading up to the structure is definitely unusual. You pick up some energy emission from the statue.
So far, you can not make out any entrance.

Foix continues his tactical approach to the temple moving in concert with Ana.
As soon as he is sure that the temple surrounds are secure and free of any hostiles he will call in the launch to land within the radiation shielded area adjacent to the temple.
Grimaud is guarding the launch (and Vee - who is piloting it).
Squee is aboard the launch.

Sara feels a frisson of excitement when she sees the ruins themselves and the guardian figure.
After Foix and Ana call the area clear, Sara will approach with Harper and get a close look at the canine statue, photographing what she can see.

With that, Vee powers up the launch's grav lifters, and, leaving the gear extended, she lifts to a height of thirty meters and hover-taxis slowly toward the temple. Upon reaching the clearing, she looks for a place to land.

“Thank you, Lady Vee”. Grimaud gratefully takes the co-pliot’s and seat enjoys the view on approach to the temple. He activates the navigation systems on the launch and monitors them. With a resigned smile he indicates the automated landing systems and adds “Probably just through sheer bloodymindedness La Legion doesn’t use them – he’ll be your ground controller at the LZ”.
Sure enough as the launch taxis over Foix appears to be completing a visual check of the proposed LZ. Grimaud comments “Old habits, my Lady. On Lorissia the insurgents would mine likely landing zones”.
Foix then proceeds to direct Vee in to the (tactically sound) landing zone and waves the launch down onto it while communicating the distance to the ground. When landed the bulk of the launch will provide additional cover for the ground team while being protected itself by the buildings of the temple complex.
If the launch lands without incident Foix next plans to turn his efforts to locating a way inside the temple and consults with Squee as she disembarks "Squee, can you sense any minds locally?"

"Old habits are sometimes the best ones," Vee remarks as she follows Foix's signals. She watches the landing gear indicator panel as the launch settles down on its landing pads. Once the craft is down, she takes power off the grav lifters and lets the launch settle.

Harper tries not to get in the way of the experts as they examine the site for signs of others. She keeps and eye on the geiger-counter as well a general lookout.

Squee uses her walker to approach the edifice and uses telepathy to sense for life. A scan of the area shows there are 4 human life forms and 2 local 100 kg herbivores inside in some kind of suspended state (Squee doesn't think it's cold sleep). There is also some kind of intelligent alien life that Squee is not able to correlate to anything known.
Ana spots some tracks of a canine nature among the boot tracks presumably belonging to the Scout team.
Sara's examination of the statue identifies that it can move, perhaps she has found the way in.
Harper notes that there is another saddle that perhaps has a trail leading over it.
