Just to be clear... while you can sleep, you are unlikely to find a safe place to have a long rest in this area. Finding such a place while on your journey is possible, but you will probably need to wait until you find a bit of civilization.

I prefer rolling (at least until I roll lower than the average) but taking the set hp at each level is easier and less risky.

Since a long rest may not happen for a while, those of you with damage or expended spell slots can gain the new hp/spell slots from leveling now.

Well, though the hp rolls are a bit of a mixed bag, I'm glad to see some good progress

My sense was that you wanted to go towards the dark lake, so now we have the question of who takes what role.

We need one guide, who will be in charge of routes, rests and supplies (such as they are)

1+ Scouts, in charge of setting up camps and finding routes

1+ Hunters, in charge of finding food

1+ Lookouts, in charge of keeping watch.

Various events on the trail will be "handled" by people in these jobs... getting around obstacles, finding good camps, etc. The descriptions give you a sense of the skills involved.

Question on attack and damage rolls.

I have +3 str bonus, and a +2 proficiency bonus so that's a +5 to attack

i have a +3 str bonus and have dueling fighting ability for +2 damage for +5 damage total I think but this isn't shown in D&D beyond correctly (just +3). Am i adding that right?

I'm not an expert, really, but...

The program doesn't seem to put conditional bonuses, like the dueling bonus, into the base numbers. As for the +5, it does look right.

Ok, this isnt really moving at this point, so...

The natural choice for guide would be Raknar, as a ranger, etc.

Would anyone (else) like to be in charge of getting food? You guys are, for the moment, without food, so... maybe an important job?

Would anyone like to guard the group/keep on the lookout for enemies?

Sabyllos the Warlock: Perception +3

This is what we had previously decided on. Thoril is just as adept at Perception as Sabyllos, so they can switch off, easily enough. And Birbal is as good at Survival as Raknar, so either can hunt for us.

That is because you have a weapon equipped in each hand (plus a shield in your third hand ). Unequip the battleaxe or the shortsword and it should should be correct.
