Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Forebodingly silhouetted in the light of the silvery moon, the listing hulk silently rests at anchor. Secured to the far end of the long wooden jetty by several rusty chains upon whose links scabby rats flit with stolen morsels, the scarred slave transport vessel is kept under constant watch by the Freeports militia. Behind sandbagged embankments, weary pikemen and grenadiers huddle around flickering stoves. They mutter as many prayerful mantras as they do bickering curses. None walk alone in guard step along the promenade, certainly none keep vigil on the jetty itself and none turn their backs to the Guineaman.
The party approach and having bribed the nights conscripts to at least turn a blindeye to them exploring, take the first steps along the creaking jetty planks.
actions and any verbals for your character please.

Stubble nodded. "I'm not the quiet type but I'll use the blade when it comes to it."
He turned to Zoggrot. "The Captain said you were in charge, so you are in charge."

Bello
Bello creeps up to the vessel with a grin on his face. "This I can do. Now, who is Zoggrot? And if I may be so bold, why are we creeping?" He whispers to the group.

Zoggrot Grimgut
The half-orc, wearing a vest and helmet made of bones and carrying silvered daggers and a mitchmatched set of pistols, turns a critical eye to the band of rogues and roustabouts that have been placed under his charge. Could have been worse, he decides.
"We're creeping because it's smart," he answers Bello. "The guards have been well paid not to see us, but we don't know what's in this boat. It's got a lot of people scared. That's the kind of thing I'd like to see before I'm fighting it, if possible. And sneaking around helps keep our numbers hidden. So let's get on with it—sneaky and quiet."
Zoggrot leads the way onto the boat.

Fenis
Fenis follows along behind Zoggrot, keeping an eye out for whatever strangeness lurks on the ship. He feels the heft of his throwing axe in his hand and feels a bit better.

Alderhay follows as quietly as he can, trying to keep his wits about him.
Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Iggway shaman of Yanauluha, slithers up behind the group, a sly smile spreads across her lips as she passes the guardsmen ..whispering to the sneaking group ahead of her....Where do you all think you are goin without me? Tonight she wears her up with it entwined around snake fangs, her dress is a black frock with raven feathers trimmed around the edges, with knee high brown leather boots. She carries her staff firmly in her right hand.

Siggard Hagslayer follows up behind the native shaman woman, ever fascinated by they way she moves and speaks. He looks over the new recruits, watching how they react to the obvious signs of dangers ahead. Glad to have some of his proven shipmates along as well, he and his friend Van remain quiet at the back of the group.
He motions for Van to keep an eye out for anything coming up from behind them as they sneak out onto the creaking jetty.

Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
The long wooden and in conspicuous places, quite rickety jetty stretches out into the harbour like a crooked finger. Behind the party, the night watchmen assemble, wagering copper coins on whose body floats into harbour first. The breeze picks up and the first sounds of flapping torn sails and large birds flying home to roost echo across water. At the far end of the jetty, about a bow shot away from shore the stricken galleon bobs with the incoming tide. Having a closer look you can see that the ship is huge, at least having mid and lower decks. It seems built for cargo as few cannon portals are cut into the hulls side. Crenalletted aft and stern castles raise portions of the top deck beyond your eyesight. The mainmast is still standing though several spars are broken off and tangled sails hang loose and torn, like a draped shroud that billows limply in the wind. Another mast is broken, bent back from the fore and strewn in splinters across the deck.
Zoggrot counts the number of people present and counsels them to be wary. He is a menacing introduction to the new recruits, bleached bones and shark ribs covering his mail and face obscured by the carved mandibles of some exotic beast.
Continuing a slow and sneaky creep along the jetty, loosened planks creak and buck beneath booted footsteps. Level with the prow of the ship the jetty has a small gap between broken clinkers and a large plank is being used as a ladder to ford the chasm. Beneath the gap you can smell the salty brine of the harbour waters and the stench of dead fish. A running jump may take you clear of the gap or you could go single file across the loose plank.
Rexlin and Fishy point loaded muskets at the aft castle, covering the group from any surprises. Old Plighty and Geoffrey lean over the rails to scan the jetty and check for unseen creepers lurking around. Pocc is the last to join the group, his twin headed Ettin snake curled around his collar. Roger and Gaston ( the snake heads), hiss and burp from a mouse too many.
Okay players give me an action for you characters please.

Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
It is obvious that Stubble is neither trained to be sneaky nor naturally quiet. The idea of a running jump over anything more than a very small puddle looks to be a bad idea as well. He will keep in the middle of the crowd. Close enough to the front to get there as needed, close enough to the middle to protect the various spell casters. Sharp eyes roam all over the path to the ship, and the ship itself.
Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Fenis
Fenis will move as quietly as possible, keeping an eye out and ready to act as a barrier to prevent anything from getting to the spell casters if need be. His axe at the ready to throw if need be.

Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Alderhay quietly offers to be first across the plank
if he gets the go ahead, he'll cast his eye over plank for anything odd before heading across, if it looks clear

Siggard stays at the back of the ranks, watching as the others board the vessel.
He wants to take a birds eye view of the deck, but waits until everyone is on board first to limit the wasted time on his spell.

Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Zoggrot takes a careful look at the board and the deck (checking for traps, etc.). If it seems safe, he crosses over.

Bello
Bello sizes up the veteran crew members, trying not to stare at the snake for too long. He does stare at the shaman for a bit too long. He whispers in response. "Just following the lead of Zoggrot here." Bello will allow the shaman to go ahead of him if she desires. Otherwise, he will wait his turn and cross the plank.

Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Iggway winks at Bello as she quickly crosses the plank in front of him. She looks around for any strange happenings. Stay near, we do not know what lurks below.... The shaman raises her serpent holy symbol to the sky, then kisses it and begins to slowly chant.

Rexlin "Devil's Scowl" Dupree
Trains his new gun at the rear of the ship along with Fishy, both sporting a pair of shiny new weapons. Rexlin's seems more long range whereas Fishy's might well blow the head right off an ogre. He looks ready to fire but doesn't rush. We have you covered, and will move up behind you at about half pace. Give us time to reload and fire another volley before coming on to engage, assuming the worse, of course. the big gruff pirate says with a heavy Gauese accent. He didn't bother paying much attention to the young bloods yet, but kept focused on his own task.
