Knuckles begins to fall and lunges back towards the edge of the pit. He hangs on the edge, preventing himself from falling into the deadly spikes.
Einstein and Ralph both grab Knuckles’ arms and pull him to safety.
OOC: Uses his luck to make his save
Luke and Ruby use their weapons to pry and open the door. (Die roll by DM)
LePlank assists and swings the door out into the room. A 5ft wide dark passage is exposed leading east.
Tiberius swings and misses, trying to club the snake’s head. (Miss)
Zeek pokes the side of the snake and stabs into its body. (2pt. dmg)
Anne thrusts her pitchfork forward, but slips in the shallow pool.

Loretta and Buckminster frantically look for suitable rocks to use as missiles against the snake. (They are unable to find any rock with sufficient mass to cause damage)

Arya sighs, seeing that Ruby has blundered off toward a new, un-evaluated threat. She joins the group at the secret door.
Derrek heads north, examining the column in the center of the area west of Knuckles and the others.
Ruby looks into the narrow corridor, hoping to see what's there. If she sees _anything_ in the corridor, she'll walk in to investigate.

Maybe we should move forward carefully in pairs, two sets of eyes are better than one he suggests. He looks back the way we came "Come on farmer" he calls to Terryk "You don't want to get left behind"

Derrek moves around the pit and examines the square column centered in the northwestern area. The column is of polygonal masonry and supports the ceiling. It is bare and does not contain any markings or pictures.
Luke lights a torch and illuminates the hallway beyond the secret door.
Ruby peers into the 5ft wide corridor beyond the secret door. Luke’s torch reveals the passage out to 40ft, where it ends in a larger room or chamber.
Ralph calls to Terryk and the farmer joins those in the northern part of the room near the exposed spiked pit.
Buckminster leaves the snake combat and starts to climb the rope dropped down from above. When he reaches the top, his exit is obstructed by a metal grate that he is unable to move from his position on the rope!
Loretta uses her field-expedient club (torch) and smashes into the serpent! (2pt. dmg)
Einstein acquires a torch from Luke and returns to the pit area.
Knuckles does nothing but stare into the pit.
Tiberius fights the poison injected into his body by the snake’s bite! (Used his Luck to make the save) He tries to attack, but misses and trips. (no need to determine the nature of the fumble, see below)
Zeek skewers the reptile with his pitchfork (5pt. dmg – DEAD!), and the serpent becomes limp and stops moving!
LePlank waits for the others to move into the exposed passage.

Newly equipped with a torch, Einstein will head across the room to the lit up hole. For the first 1-2 paces onto a new "step", Knuckles will hold his hand as he moves forward, bracing himself to try to catch Einstein, should the floor give way.
Luke follows along 5-10 feet behind Ruby, holding his torch up. He stays back hoping that, if the floor should give way, he'll be far enough back not to fall in again.

"I bathe in the dark waters of Arioch, lord of the seven darks..." whisper Anne, a little catattonic. Sir Honksalot stare at the crazy lady, waiting for something to happen. "This must be a place for trial. I shall look for our reward in this water" and she sunk her head, looking for shinnies or anything.
