I will hold off on Archiving Xale until they have at least had a chance to go through his equipment. Good Luck guys, he hits hard!

Malibran has a couple of ways of bringing him back to life - let's see how the battle goes first. Assuming he's not completely dead.

Yup. This is a high level adventure. Death is usually only temporary. ;)

This jig is up! Malibran is actually a chaotic evil priest in disguise!

Shhhh! No one is supposed to know yet!

Update should be coming soonish, BTW. You’d think social distancing would mean I’d have plenty of time to update games...

Update is up. It got to be too much of a pain to try to keep the upper combat separate from the description of what's going on below, especially with Risdac standing in one place and casting a spell in the other, so everything is back in the public thread.

With the now battle combined, is malibran able to heal hallagad or is he to far away (considering that cure spells are technically touch based)?

Healing spells still require touch. And the battle isn’t actually combined. Malibran still can’t see what’s going on—I’m just describing the battle without spoilers because it was the easiest way to describe Risdac’s actions, which are in both rooms. But Malibran, Odillo, and Rool still can’t see into the room above (and so, for example, don't have line of sight).

Crap! I didn't expect the spell to make it stronger! I could cast Dispel Magic (3rd level) but that may also wipe out our continual light devices, active spells, and potions. It also may turn Risdac back to his human form. So, lots of potential downsides. Or I could cast Stone to Flesh, which would effectively cause him to waste two 6th level spells (assuming the creature makes the system shock roll). I don't want to cast Dispel and potentially wreck other player's spells and equipment without running it by you guys first.

Or, we just leave it as a gargoyle and get more XP when we kill it through other means. :D

I'm heading out of town this weekend, so I may not get a chance to post an update until Monday or so.

(I know, I know — travelling, now? But I'm driving, and we're going to a cabin out in the middle of nowhere. We'll be more socially distant than we are here in our townhouse.)

Critical hits worth both ways, unfortunately. Anything but a 20 on that second roll (or the dice deciding that the monster fights Hallagad instead) and Tanner survives to fight another round.

Tanner got his ass handed to him it looks like - sorry man - but he is recoverable. Malibran can use his wand again but not until a day has passed. raise dead could work too but you'll be at like 1hp.

This all assumes that we survive whatever is kicking the shit out of us :). I guess it makes up for that other big demon we took care of easily ;)

You didn’t try to take on the other demon one or two at a time. ;)

Don't get me wrong- I definitely agree that PC's and Monsters should get the same advantages. It just surprised me, that's all.

Update is (finally) up. Customary apologies for the delay.

Norjax has said elsewhere that he won't be playing any games on the forums here for a while. That leaves us with another (or, after Hallagad just got almost one-shotted, one) NPC. I'd like to let this combat play out and see where we go from there. If the PCs manage to pull out a victory, maybe we can talk about whether to recruit new blood and continue on. If this little pipsqueak pulls off a TPK (or mass casualties and a retreat), well, we can talk about what to do at that point, too.

Copasetic?
