Character Generation
Character Generation
Use campaign 697 in the dice roller: http://www.unseenservant.com/
Pick the race you would like to play and I'll let you know what you should roll for stats. Many attributes will be rolled with [4d6k3] but there are some exceptions. For example, a player may want the option to have more choice for SIZ in which case the player should roll [1d6][1d6][1d6][1d6] and choose the three dice rolls they prefer to sum up. This allows picking a smaller SIZ if desired. Non-humans get don't all roll their stats on 4d6k3. Also INT is rolled on 3d6k2+6 generally.

k is for keep. 4d6k3 is 4d6 take the highest three. It could also be coded 4d6c1 which is 4d6 drop the lowest...rossik wrote:Im a duck!

For a Duck:
STR [3d6k2]
INT [3d6k2+6] (this is an official variant to roll INT on 2D6+6)
POW [4d6k3]
CON [3d6k2+6]
DEX [3d6k2+6]
CHA [3d6k2]
SIZ [1d4+2][1d4+2] (pick one of the two rolls)
The effects of SIZ from a Duck's perspective
SIZ 1-4 gives +5% to Defense (dodging), +10% to Stealth
SIZ 5-8 gives +5% to Stealth
Damage bonus is based on the average of STR and SIZ:
1-6 -1d4
7-12 no bonus or penalty
Hit points are the average of SIZ + CON (plus a modifier for high or low POW) - this is a house rule (RAW hit points are CON plus modifiers for SIZ and POW, which makes everyone have similar hit points since all creatures have 3D6 or 2D6+6 for CON, even dragons and giants...

very nice!
but how do i roll all those different rolls? it seems i only have 3d6 and 4d6c1
Re: Character Generation
The character rollup in the dice roller won't be of help, it's really only set up for D&D. You just make the rolls independently in the dice roller. Just create a place holder character (you can go back and change it's name later).rossik wrote:ffilz wrote:k is for keep. 4d6k3 is 4d6 take the highest three. Re: Character Generation
Fill in the dice macro in the roll on-the-fly box as shown, then click on the die to roll, note I labeled the roll.rossik wrote:and how thats done?ffilz wrote: You just make the rolls independently in the dice roller. .

Re: Character Generation
The error sometimes is too many rolls in one macro I learned that the hard way. You might find you have to limit a macro to only one to 3 rolls when they are in the format we are using here.
Here are my sample rolls:
STR [3d6k2] = 9
INT [3d6k2+6] = 10+6 = 16
POW [4d6k3] = 17
CON [3d6k2+6] = 9+6 = 15
DEX [3d6k2+6] = 7+6 = 13
CHA [3d6k2] = 11
SIZ [1d4+2] = 3+2 = 5[1d4+2] = 4+2 = 6
Here are my sample rolls:
STR [3d6k2] = 9
INT [3d6k2+6] = 10+6 = 16
POW [4d6k3] = 17
CON [3d6k2+6] = 9+6 = 15
DEX [3d6k2+6] = 7+6 = 13
CHA [3d6k2] = 11
SIZ [1d4+2] = 3+2 = 5[1d4+2] = 4+2 = 6

Re: Character Generation
I will try to pick up the PDFs and start my PC latter Friday. Weekends can be sort of crazy for me so no guarantee it will get done over the weekend.

RQ1 Monsters chapter is horridly laid out... Newtlings are on p. 81.Rex wrote:I couldn't find Newtlings in the rules, what are they?
Re: Character Generation
You can get the RQ1 rules on DriveThruRPG (or RPGNow) or the Chaosium web site. Cults of Prax is also strongly recommended.GreyWolfVT wrote:Oops my bad yeah i guess that was just helping rossik.ffilz wrote:Greywolf did you want to go lay a duck also or just helping rossik?

RQ2 has enough differences that it will be somewhat challenging, anyone who does have RQ2 and prefers to not lay out for RQ1, I'll do my best to help you work through the differences.
Re: Character Generation
Thanks, looks like classic lizard men. I started going through the cults. Should have an idea latter tonight when I get a few minutes.
Re: Character Generation
For a Newtling, you may want to go with Zola Fel which unfortunately isn't in Cults of Prax. For that unfortunately you need one of:Rex wrote:Thanks, looks like classic lizard men. I started going through the cults. Should have an idea latter tonight when I get a few minutes.
The Pavis boxed set (unfortunately not digital yet)

I can walk you through it and provide some out-takes if you don't want to lay out for one of those supplements. It's not a complex cult.

Re: Character Generation
I'm totally distracted here but I like the cover art for RQ1.

Re: Character Generation
I am going for either a human or troll (not sure if we can run a troll). Most likely a female. Cult will be Hunter, specific god depends on race, if human then on region.
