Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
Perhaps the Sutters are under a curse, or there is more mundane sabotage going on
Do the papers from the vault cast any more light on the situation?

Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
You can study the papers with a DC 10 intelligence check.
I think you are getting a bit ahead in "days" though...

Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
i think you're right, I'm a day ahead, best let raamiz catch up
Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
The papers from the vault probably won't help; they're related to the owner of the signet ring, not the key (unless there's a connection there we're not aware of).
Raamiz will search for leads as to the location of the masks.

Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
Shmehk will look in the papers to see if there is anything about the Sutters
Int check: [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12
There probably isn't a connection between the key and the ring, but it's another possible adventure.

Raamiz, spend 1d6, and roll a DC 12 personality check.
Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
The papers detail various features of Lord Suttar's business, and many of them seem to be reports of spies watching him.
In addition to the grain business, there are also notes indicating that Lord Suttar was buying alchemical supplies. The notes indicate the address this was going to, along with a note in the margins which reads "abandoned?"

Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
That sounds like a good adventure lead. I'm OK with scouting out that address.

Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
I was thinking that the guy we stole the key from is likely looking for us, so we might want to consider sitting on the key for a while until things cool down. From the letters about Lord Sutter he has spies who he could send out looking for people asking about the sisters or selling the key or it's gems.
Just a thought.

Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
You can "lay low" if you want. If you think they are on to you, specifically, you would need to find a new place to live, for a while, at least. If you just want to avoid following up on leads from that job for a while, you'd need to tell me how long you want to wait...?
Is Raamiz going to that address alone to scout, or are you going together? Fiapy has not been around for a couple of days, though he didn't say anything to you about where he was going.

Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
I don't see any reason why anyone would be looking for us specifically, although the merchant probably is looking for information about who broke into his vault. I agree we shouldn't try to move the key right away. I read the info about the papers as there are people spying on Lord Suttar, not that he has spies himself. It's entirely possible that those spies are now staking out the address where he was buying alchemical supplies...but given that Raamiz knows that, he should be all right.
Raamiz will scout the address, keeping a careful eye out for people who seem to be watching it. Shmeck can come if he want--I don't know how dangerous this will be, but it will likely require stealth.

Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
I phrased my post poorly, I meant the merchant was spying on Lord Sutter, just as you say, and the merchant could have retasked those spies to find us thieves.
Shmehk would like to come, rather than see his new friend enter potential danger on his own. If stealth is needed perhaps Shmehk can wait nearby, available to assist if required.

Re: Second Interlude: Resting and Planning
Ok. It's been 4 days (1. Shmehk carousing, 2. Shmehk examining the key, 3. Shmehk searching for rumors, 4. Shmehk looking at the papers), so you are both at full hp, Shmehk is at 12 luck (from gaining 2 by carousing) and Raamiz has regained 4 of his luck points (due to time) to be at 14 luck.
If this is right, we'll move on to investigating this house...

sounds good to me.
