Once Rodbert has shaken off the excess from the night before, he will spend time getting his spells back then turn his attention to the metal book that the group had retrieved. He will ask Humphrey for his assistance in looking over the book.

Humfrey can confirm they are runes for sure. To his knowledge both Dwarves and Ivinians use runes, but the languages are different. He can't read either and he has heard that the Dwarves refuse to teach others their language, they always conduct trade in the language of those they are trading with. Maybe Ingvar can see if they are Ivinian.

Well then, let's go snag Ingvar and get him to look at things.

Ingvar looks at the runes.

If they really are Ivinian, he should be able to read them easily.

They are not Ivinian. That leaves just Dwarves from what the 4 of you know.

Well. That puts a pin in that for now.

Rodbert suggests that the group spend at least one, if not two, full days in town to recuperate, enjoy the local hospitality and decide on the next path. This also gives the town at least two days of additional assistance with protecting the town as they harvest the crops, thus freeing up resources, maybe even getting the local lord to spot us a little silver for our trouble. Once done, we head back to inform the mining guild what we found out, get paid and move onto the next step.

While saying this, Rodbert has another thought. "Wonder if the miners that were here in town would feel safer if we escorted them back to the mine? Granted, unless we can get some coin or good will out of it, we may not want to bother. Still, if we want to see about getting back into that mine from the outside, we would need some assistance."

Ingvar

"Let us stay until the harvest festival. Then go to Olokand and collect our silver from the miners. I am sure they will be glad to hear they can go back."

"As for the Demon Rock..." Ingvar falls silent. "It is not a lucky place for me. Maybe some day we will go back and see if there is more treasure in there."

This would probably take place in Valdaen's inn as we were supposed to be staying for free there.

Ingvar

"When do you want to return there, Sheamus? Now, or after we have been to Olokand?"

"Then let us stay until the harvest is done and offer to help guard it back to Olokand. Since we did see some orcs before, it would not be unlikely that they would attack. Besides, we know that they do range further south of here, the banner of the official was found among them. Granted, a nominal fee should be required...."

Ingvar

"Then it is decided. We will go to Olokand first. If they want to send their wagons with us, fine."

As the party stays until harvest festival, Ingvar spends his time hanging around the village, offering plenty of unneeded advice to the villagers. He does not mind lending a hand if something heavy needs to be lifted or moved, partly because he is a nice guy and partly to show off in front of local womenfolk.

If nothing unexpected happens then I guess we will gather our stuff and head to Olokand.

Edited to add: going with wagons would be fine too

Given an opportunity, Rodbert would try to talk with the mine foreman to see if they would be available to assist with trying to excavate what the group found (not giving any location if possible).
