It's Good To Bee Liam
Re: It's Good To Bee Liam
Dexter Broadleaf
Dexter comes walking up to Liam's farm, searching for the older gentleman. "Mister Liam! I hope you are well rested after yesterday's exertions. I'm still feeling a bit.... tenderized." Looking around, a bit conspiratorially, he continues. "I have heard that you might have .... eggs. Actual chicken eggs. I would be most interested in purchasing some. Say.... half a dozen? Would that even be possible?"

Liam walks alongside the green monstrosity, gathering up Joe, Dexter, and the Princess along the way.
The lizard walks all the way through town, showing little interest in its new surroundings. It eventually wades a short distance out into the sea and thrashes around to clean itself before drinking long from the salty sea.

Liam just tries to keep the lizard calm and then chuckles as it thrashes about in the water. Well, I can't blame him there... I could use a good bath myself... Wait.... is he drinking seawater?! I mean.... that is great if that is what they live off of, but isn't that typically harmful to animals, or is it just a mammal shortcoming?

Dexter, as amazed as Liam, can only shrug. "I don't know. I've heard tales of snakes that live in the ocean, so maybe reptiles are less affected by saltwater. I mean, if it were dangerous, wouldn't something that grew up on the island know that?"

After drinking what seems like a voluminous amount of sea water, the lizard eventually makes its way back to the sandy beach and lays down in the shade, slowly licking at some wounds it can reach with its massive head.

The Princess
She watches with interest as Narramore's lizard drinks, bathes, and suns itself. "Huh." She leads her lizard into the surf as well, keen to see if it does the same.
"At least it doesn't look like they will take up any freshwater, Marge." She stays with the lizard, doing her best to calm and ingratiate herself with the beast.

Liam watches on with interest. It certainly explains their lack of interests in the fresh water. Let's bring the other one over and see if he does the same.
That said he would go fetch the other lizard and lead him to water to see if he will drink.

As Liam thinks it.....
Princess leads her beast to the seashore as well, watching it drink and flounder in the shallows, sunning itself just as the first one did. She has never seen activity like this from any other animal, and by the look on the nobleman farmer’s face, he hasn’t either.
The beast the Princess is spending time with seems to accept her lead even more with each new task, assuring the normally very clean handed elf that the beasts are likely easy to tame.
A very large, gruff looking fighter who smells a bit like bacon wanders past as she gets her future mount to sit. “I was gonna do that, you know. Have you figured out how to ride them yet?”

The Princess
She looks up at the large fighter with a sparkle in her eye. "Interesting question. I have ridden them, yes. But not in the same sense as a normal mount. It's more akin to riding an ass. Sometimes the ass rides you."
"But perhaps with long extended sessions, this lizard can be ridden."
As the lizards dry off in the sun, she smiles and remarks. "They remind me of my friend, Zilla. Large homely woman, stubborn, and salty as hell."
"But forgive me. I don't believe we've met." or have they?

Re: It's Good To Bee Liam
Liam observes what the lizards are doing and hmmms a little. Reminds me of the saltwater crocodiles I read about as a boy. I say give them some time doing exactly what they are right now. Hopefully whatever abuses the dwarves did to them will heal better if we allow them some time to lounge. Looking to Caleb and Marge. I'm sorry. I know we said we would try them with the plow. Maybe if we give them some time to rest they will give a better demonstration? At the very least they can see we are not the enemy on their well being like the Stoneguts have been.
Either, way we are all on the learning curb right now.
Listening to the Princess's story he chuckles. I guess "Zillas" are as good a name for them as anything. For now they don't appear to be hurting anything and maybe the salt water will have cleaned out their wounds of any infection. Those spur marks alone look awful.
Seeing the newcomer, Liam will try to remember if he has seen the man before.

Seeing the Liam and the others are dealing with topics important to the welfare of the town, Dexter politely takes his leave.

Re: It's Good To Bee Liam
Gramble looks very interested in the Princess, but stiffens up noticeably once Liam arrives.
“I tried to ride one from the wild, one that wasn’t beaten by the dwarves. That didn’t go too well.”
He begins to take his leave. “I am called Gramble. In between expeditions, for now. Have any of you heard anything interesting going on out in the jungle lately?”

Re: It's Good To Bee Liam
Liam nods a little as he listens as seems to be his habit while taking in information. I see. Perhaps, given time and incentive then... but for now these two seem plenty tamed. Perhaps step one in domesticating them will be just working with this pair. I haven't check to see if we might have a mating pair yet, nor am I familiar enough with reptiles to really know how.... Well... beyond an educated guess... but I am not keen on... ahem reaching into there just yet to check for a male. Certainly being abused by the dwarves has contributed to their temperament though I loath the idea of subjecting any animal to that kind of treatment. Perhaps one of the local druids can come along at some point and help communicate with them. Thank you for this insight, Gramble.
Liam perks up and looks at Daisy as if to check before he speaks. As for the jungle, not so much, but there are preparations being discussed to begin moving some of the town across the river. Would you mind sticking around town for a day or two to act as a possible escort for the first phase should we go forward with it? There have been sightings of a tenticle monster along the shoreline that hides its arms under the sand. Think of fishing the opposite way. He grabs up unsuspecting passers by and pulls them in. He hasn't been seen in a while, but the risk is there. Even if we are not moving some operations across the river yet, we will certainly be going there at Marge's convenience to replenish the water supply. Either of those times you could help would be appreciated.

Gramble looks over his shoulder at the elevated Treehouse.
“What about the tavern? We won’t be leaving that behind.”

Re: It's Good To Bee Liam
I agree, we don't want to abandon Randall. We will speak to him about what he wants to do to move when it gets closer to that time. We have had similar concerns from Nelissa and she is one of the people on the council for exactly that reason. We hope that with her input as well as that of others that we can come up with a way to make this an easy and relatively painless move for everybody, which is why we want to work out an intelligent and phased plan that will benefit all involved.
Liam watches as Daisy ministers to the Zillas and does what he can to help as well. I have a feeling that if we keep nursing these poor brutes back to health and making sure they are comfortable they will be much more cooperative for us than they were for the Stoneguts.
Caleb? Do you think it would be difficult to work out a rope system that would comfortably attach to these harnesses for a plow or cart?

The Princess
"Oh! You're the one who found these lizards down by the beach. I heard about that. Nice to meet you, I'm Princess Summerstars." She smiles sweetly as she bows and forgoes her customary greeting.
"We went to go talk to the Dwarves at the mine, but things went bad rather quickly. They are serious about trespassers and their claim on the logging trail. Very unfortunate." She looks him up and down then continues. "Maybe you'd have more luck riding after they're domesticated. I'm going to spend some time trying to train them, to see if I can get them tamed. I'd be glad for the help."
The Princess moves to help Daisy with the Zillas and lovingly pats and strokes them while again whispering kindly.

Caleb scratches his chin and takes some visual measurements.
"I think we could rig something up for them, but I don't want to be the first one to try hooking them up."
Gramble smiles back at the Princess. "Indeed Princess, they were splashing around in the ocean when I found them. And drinking lots of sea water."
"I would give it another try, with your help. These animals seem much more calm than the ones I saw in the wild."
The large fighter spits on the ground when the dwarves are mentioned. "There is something wrong with those Stoneguts. They don't act like any dwarves I've known. They seem twisted and evil to me."

I agree. They seem a nasty sort.
