004 - Sheddezar
Re: 004 - Sheddezar
We’ll buy books as well, but yes a chat with Taylor on the boat with a simple, “Anything we need to watch out for, don’t touch?”

Just so we're clear on the plan, please re-iterate. The monitoring station has been built and tested. I will post in the diving thread about the diving lessons stuff.Tiglath wrote:(OOC: I think we're there! We have a plan and have laid out the preparation and method for execution. Re: 004 - Sheddezar
As I understand the plan we have:
Quote: She tosses a local topography map up the wall display, “The caves of mystery is in this chain here,” Ana points to a bunch of dots on the map, “this lagoon specifically,” she twists her hand expertly and the display changes from an overhead map to a full 3d render, “there are these big limestone spires all around the area. I’d still like to do a 1 to 2 hour recon and sample recovery but I’d also like to put Foix up on one of these spires to set up a passive sensor web. Leave it, let it monitor the area while we’re off having our samples analyzed . When we come back we ping the web on approach and download what ever it recorded.”
Followed by:
Quote: Ana shrugs, “The ship comes in, drops us from 3 or 4 metres into the water, drops you on the spire and then heads off checking out the area as a part of its flight check, maybe goes orbital. You set up the sensors, we check the caves. The ships comes back grabs ypu and drops a line into the water for us, we clip on and get winched in and we make like a shepherd and get the flock out of here.”
“Squee can even check for locals before we do anything beyond a flyby.” (Life Detect and Ship's sensor check)
Final tweak on extraction method:
Quote: I figure Vee and Foix can simply step aboard the ship, Sara and I can get winched up like a rescue chopper and Squee’s suit gives her limited floatyness so she can fly aboard?
OOC: If the spires have trees on the top Foix and Vee can rappel down and be winched back up to extract them.
For me if Squee has a grav belt she can fly herself into the ship - especially if it is stationary while winching up Ana and Sara.

Re: 004 - Sheddezar
Ok, is the dry run being done before picking up cargo and passengers? Just want to get timelines right here...
Re: 004 - Sheddezar
That’s the plan, not sure how secret we can be with passengers... we’ve got their money and the airlock is right over there. Test first, before cargo is delivered. Hide it, get cargo, go.
Re: 004 - Sheddezar
Well, if you look at the cargo thread, no worries this time about passenger secrecy, the only passengers available are Low...Ramona wrote:That’s the plan, not sure how secret we can be with passengers... we’ve got their money and the airlock is right over there. Re: 004 - Sheddezar
Foix recommends keeping the autodoc free rather than maximising our carriage of low passengers.
(OOC: Yes - Low Berth passengers only. We can load the low births and the hold and then have our "excursion" prior to jumping out.
Do we want low birth passengers?)

Freezer fodder is good.
Re: 004 - Sheddezar
And you have to pay life support on the berths whether they are occupied or not.Ramona wrote:Freezer fodder is good.
Re: 004 - Sheddezar
Another one of those headscratchers from Trav, if there’s no one in it... lol
Re: 004 - Sheddezar
Yes, load the Low passengers, complete the auction, cargo and freight loading and then do the "fly by."
We want to leave for Arthiop as soon as we get Ana, Sara, et al. back aboard, no return to the star port.
BTW, the Autodoc, now out of the container, takes up how much space and is it in the hold or up in Sickbay or somewhere like that? I ask because if it reduces our available cargo tonnage, we'll have to fly a few tons light. We have empty staterooms from Sheddezar to Arthiop, so we could put it in one of them, temporarily if we needed to do that. Oh, and with the empty staterooms the crew can spread out to them on this leg of the trip...we have to pay upkeep whether we have passengers in them or not (fixed cost) so we might as well occupy them ourselves for now.

Re: 004 - Sheddezar
Autodoc can go in an empty stateroom otherwise it’s 0.5 ton of cargo. You can knock down the container and stash it in another stateroom since you probably want to keep it for now to handle getting squee in and out of autodoc. Even if she stays in her suit she will need some time in water each day.
Re: 004 - Sheddezar
Please everyone check out the logistics thread. I'd like to make sure all the PCs have made any gear purchases they think they should have before we proceed with "adventure".
Re: 004 - Sheddezar
Catching up now…
okay.
Chu listens while Ana goes over the map. "Maybe three would do the scanner job more quickly. I think Foix's idea makes sense, we should be able to assemble most of it right here, and all we really need at the site are a few sets of hands to clamp everything down and make sure we're getting clean readings."
okay.

All complete. All that is left is to install and test.joertexas wrote:H\ow does Vee fare with her fabrication work?
I think we're ready to lift and do the cave explore and monitoring station install.
Re: 004 - Sheddezar
Ana nods, My concern with the sensors is they’ll be pretty fisheye as is and not knowing how big the top of that pillar is exactly we might loose coverage. The sensors themselves are cheap and easy to make, it’s the brain that’s going to be the problem.Starbeard wrote:Catching up now…

Vee works to clean the 3D fabricator and the other shop tools while the others check out the equipment.Ramona wrote:Woo wooo!ffilz wrote:All complete. All that is left is to install and test.joertexas wrote:H\ow does Vee fare with her fabrication work?
