Glansandi is still in his bunk when Daisy arrives to check in on him. He doesn't look any better health wise, but he is still able to communicate.

"Hello again Miss Daisy. Is there something I can do for you?"

Hello Constable. Ah came by to see how you're feeling. Ah'd like to see you out and about- Ah know the critter rode you hard, but you need some exercise to get better. Please, get out in the sunshine and walk around. Sit when you need to, but the Sun is one of Arvoreen's best tools for helpin' sick folks.
Ah'll be going to visit the Dwarf mining camp tomorrow- maybe dig the doorway for peace, if not an alliance with 'em. Do you have a couple of men you could detail to go with?
As she speaks, Daisy is doing normal Nurse/mother hen stuff for the Constable: fresh water, checking for fever, fluffing pillows....

"I agree with your advice on getting outside again, and I will heed it as soon as I feel a bit better."

"Are you sure you want to be visiting these dwarves? The little I have dealt with them so far hasn't given me much confidence that they are willing to work together on anything. I think they feel like they have enough of their own clan here that they don't need to reach out or work with anyone else."

Sorry to interrupt, but wanted to make sure Daisy found out that a couple of folks are looking for her over in "Everyday Life in Beachtown".

Ah'm gettin' there, sugar! LOL

Ah don't see we have a choice. We need to try and get along with them- we can't fight therm, and Ah'm sure the folks here don't want to be pushed off the island completely. This is mainly a neighborly trip, so Ah can let them know the kobolds are here. We don't want to be attacked for somethin' the kobolds are doing.
Now, back to the first question: can you spare a couple of men for part of the escort?

Glansandi looks troubled by the request.

"Normally I would say yes, but while I am recovering, I think we need to keep the few men I have here, to protect the town."

"I'm sorry, Daisy, but you will have to go it alone on this one. I bet there are some adventuring types who would be willing to go along with you though. There seem to be new folks coming back to town all the time. Maybe you could convince some of them to join you?"

Ah understand completely, Constable. Ya'll have to do your duty by the town.

She nags him again to get some sun and exercise, then goes to join Liam and the others.

Maag knocks on the door of the constable's shack. "Anybody 'ere? I 'ave a legal fing to report."

Glansandi opens the door of the newly built barracks building, the normally stoic elf still looking a bit pale and sick.

"Yes. I am here. What is it then?"

Breathing heavy from talking and walking to the door, Maag believes there is definitely something wrong with this elf copper.

Alarmed, Maag takes several steps back. He's heard about this strange elf from tavern-talk.

"Er...dis won't take long mate." He points towards the log pile.

"Dem logs over der. Der blokes dat cut dem are dead. Captain Bing is dead. 'is crew is dead. 'is ship is sunk. So nobody owns dem anymore. Dey are abandoned."

"So I am claimin' dem. Dey are salvage. Dey 'ad no owner. Now dey are mine. I am registerin" my legal claim to dem. So der yer go."

Glansandi looks back without expression.

After deciphering the thugs words, he lets out an exasperated sigh.

“Some people were using those logs for projects around town, but they are heavy and unwieldy. Very difficult wood to work with, from what I’ve heard. Do you mind sharing with me what you intend to use them for?”

Maag

Maag takes a long moment to think over his answer. Finally he says, "Well, I wanted to keep dis a secret, but...I am going to sell dem."

"If I sell dem to Captain Quark, I can use dem to buy stuff. Stuff like farmin' stuff an' tools for der town. Den dey can grow more food an' build better stuff."

"People woz comin' all dis way to chop dem down an' ship dem back 'ome. So dey 'ave got to be worth sumfin', right?"

Glansandi’s expressions change from shock, to mild understanding, to near acceptance as Magg tells him what must certainly be the truth.

“I see. Well, I appreciate you telling me all that, but do you know for certain that Quark would be interested in hauling them? Bing had a small army of men with him when they were moving those things around. You would need to enlist some help, I think.”

Maag

"Yeah, dey do look a bit 'eavy", admits Maag. "But 'e 'ad to drag dem out of der jungle. I only 'ave to move dem over to der dock. I reckon der is enough people 'ere dat will volunteer for a bit of money an' food."

"An', you know, it is for der good of der community. Dey are not really 'elpin' me. Dey will be 'elpin' demselves."

"Yes, you do seem to have a good standing with the locals already, though I am not sure how. They don't usually like anyone for very long."

The sickly looking elf scratches his head for a moment.

"I believe that Bing had the deck of his ship modified to haul several of those logs in one trip. I doubt Quark will be willing to do that, so he may not be able to transport more than a few of them at a time. Have you discussed any of these details with the man?"

Maag shakes his head. "No, I 'avn't but ' e 'as a tower over dere. Wiv a bloke inside. I can go 'an talk wiv 'im, an' make a deal."

"Quark can take a few logs dis time, an' der rest when 'e comes back".

Glansandi nods.

"Well, if you are truly intent on buying things to help around town, then how could I say no."

"If the good captain doesn't mind hauling the dirty things, I don't care if you have them sold back in civilization."

"However, if I find out that there is an ulterior motive behind this sudden act of kindness, this wont be the end of our discussion about it."

"It's not that I don't trust you or anything, but after what I have been through lately, I simply don't trust anyone anymore."

"Der is nuffin' to worry about constable". Maag holds up his hands and tries to look innocent. "Der whole town is gonna be expectin' dese fings. If dey don't show up, my life ain't gonna be worth livin', is it?"

The elf gives the brutish half-orc a strange look, but eventually nods his head in agreement.

"Thank you for thinking of the town first, Mister Maag was it?"
