Denslow smashes one of the windows open with his axe, clearing away any debris. He will then take a few packages out and take a look.

Taking the keys, Jack proceeds to the two locked doors and attempts to use them. He is successful unlocking both doors, with the same key. The three other keys do not fit into the locks.

Delsow chops into the glass panel several times until it cracks and breaks. The window is different than normal glass, and must be some ancient artificial material. He removes some of the packages and cylindrical containers to examine them. The items are made from a thin metal foil or artificial bone and marked in ancient Ongish script. The closed cylinders feel like they have a liquid inside of them and the packages suggest irregular solids are inside.

Belial

Belial joins Deslow at the display case. He takes an 'irregular solids' package, and begins fiddling with it- sniffing, poking the wrapper, turning it over in his hands- and eventually mutters figgit and bites off one end.

Jack opens both doors that he unlocked. "Thanks Silvestri."

Belial bites off an end to one of the packages. His enhanced smell is overwhelmed by an unidentifiable odor released from the bag, which smells putrid and sweet at the same time. He peers into the package and sees irregular red and green pieces that look like porous, volcanic rock.

---

Jack opens the first door (A) but does not enter. The 10ft by 15ft room is full of crates, boxes and bins. The second door (B) opens into a similarly stocked room, but the containers are smaller and more fragile looking. Both rooms are covered in a film of residual dust, indicative of being undisturbed for a long period of time.

---

Denslow succeeds in opening a cylindrical container made from artificial bone. The opaque red liquid does not have any odor and is noticeably gooey as the plantient sloshes it around.

Denslow says, Some kind of thick sap. Looks worthless to me, but you meat-types might find it valuable, holding the canister out for others.

Belial

The baboon barks and sneezes in disgust, shaking his head to try and get the stench out of his nose. Aww, Dude! Mondo gnarly! He knuckles off to the travel pod and drops the package on the tracks, then returns to 'help' explore the storage room.

Jack will go into the storage room behind door A and help open and look through the crates and other items inside.

Frekken takes the container from Denslow, dips in the claw of a finger and samples the liquid with his tongue. The frogmonn contorts his mouth, shakes his head and lets out a rapid ‘croak’. “Wowzee! This stuff is high concentrate sweet syrup! I’d love to dip some flies into this and make a dessert!” The mutant animal takes a couple of more dips and licks, with the same expressive results.

---

Jack, Silvestri and Belial search the contents of the first room (A). They move and open the various crates, boxes and bins, rifling through their contents. The trio finds various items constructed of metal, artificial bone (plastic) and artificial leather (rubber). Some of the parts can be identified as tools both recognizable and unrecognizable. Other parts appear to be objects incorporated into larger items and machines. Some are sealed in clear, flexible glass (clear plastic wrap) packages while others are boxed in opaque paper containers.

One of the crates is locked, and one of the corpse keys fits into the slot but will not turn or actuate the mechanism.

In summary:

  • You find two crates, one locked and unable to open. The first crate contains various tools.
There are two large artificial bone boxes containing the various machine parts.
There are four cylindrical bins, each of a different size, with open tops. Theses bins contain various machine parts that appear to be worn-out and used. There are some soiled rags in one of the bins.

Silvestri will go looking for something to lubricate the lock with.

OOC: not sure if the reason it won't open is it's rusted, or just the wrong key?

Kurot looks at the boxes of parts with interest, wondering if any of them would be suitable replacements for his worn or broken parts.

Silverstri looks through the containers for something that may be a machine lubricant. He finds a small tube with indiscrete markings and takes a chance on its contents. He squeezes the paste into the lock slot and then works the key back and forth. The psionist holds Denslow at bay to prevent premature destruction of the locking mechanism. After a few minutes, the key turns 90-degrees and the cover pops open. Silvestri lifts the cover to reveal four objects, one of which resembles Denslow’s glowstick.

Jack leaves Silvestri to his task, and enters the second room to search its contents. There are seven boxes made from artificial bone that contain dozens of items matching those behind the glass panels in the preceding room. The packaged items are colorful, marked with ancient Ongish and either boxed, bagged or cylindrical. An enclosed metal cylinder in the corner contains trash and remnants of old packages, the contents desiccated from extreme age.

Kurot examines the machine parts, hoping they might be suitable replacements. He deciphers some of the Ongish and loosely interprets the items to be used for dispensing machines, illumination controls and door actuators. None appear designed for humanoid constructs, but could possibly be modified by an individual with the right skills.
