No, but the colonists do have some weapons among them in their baggage (checked into the ship's locker of course per standard Imperial travel regulations).

Getting weapons here would be somewhat problematical considering the local TL 1 and the small star port.

Vee tries to determine if the colonists have the tools and materials to make weapons for themselves.
They should actually be pretty well set with what they have. They likely don't have to worry much about the natives (only TL-1 and relatively low population here). They do have at least two laser rifles which they will be able to recharge using the ATV's power plant (which can easily be refueled). They have some slug weapons and a reasonable amount of ammunition, plus a variety of close combat weapons (daggers and blades mostly, with a cutlass or two).

What’s the lay of the land and temperatures? We’re looking for a spot close to fresh water or better still a natural spring, raised so it’s more defensible in an area where they could grow crops or fish. Arrange the houses in a circular pattern with the entances facing inwards so the buildings make a kind of fort to keep critters out.

The area chosen for colonization has a reasonable growing season. There are streams and forests. Picking an open spot of high ground should not be too hard and you spot one along the coast which will be defensible and provide access to the ocean as well as forest and stream.

If we could, we could buy a ton, sell it here and repeat until we've sold all 30 tons all for a profit. :) Assuming we can't, we can buy 2 tons, after getting paid for passage by passengers and resell it on Shedezar (it is also a RI world, right, so we should still get a good profit).

I think I have it all in the Spreadsheetnow, but please look it over.

I'm not clear on how many cabins are taken up by crew and what we have available for passengers. My understanding is that a) the young couple are continuing, b) the 7 MP folks are continuing and c) all 20 of the LP are continuing to Shedezar, right?

Is this our loadout leaving Fogbound for Shedezar:
  • 3 High Passage - young couple and one of the 7 picked up here
  • 7 Mid Passage - the 7 we already had
  • 20 Low Passage - the 20 we already had
  • Freight 30+20+20+10 = 80 tons
  • Spec (Machine tools) 2 tons
I need a date for us here on Fogbound. I think you posted one for Tegel, but I can't find it. I also need to know berthing, fuel, and any LS costs I haven't gotten. So I can add those expenses to the spreadsheet.

Correct, you can't buy and sell on the same world...

Only 6 middle passengers are continuing (Mr. Karim's partner who was doubling up with him is also staying here).

The 8 passengers continuing on fill 4 state rooms, leaving you with 1 empty to fill with a High Passenger. You have 9 crew filling up 5 state rooms (the 4 crew staterooms plus one of the 6 passenger staterooms).

Life support costs will be 22 kcr (10 staterooms + 20 low berths)
Berthing fees are 100 cr.
Fuel is 2500 cr (the 10 tons of power plant fuel are a 4 week supply, so you only need 25 tons). You could also skim instead.

NOTE: The fuel here is unrefined... Hello possibility of mis-jump...

Once we move the colonists over to their colony site and come back to the Star Port we'll get everyone and all the cargo loaded, and buy the unrefined fuel (I'd rather spend the money instead of the time to Wilderness refuel right now.)

We'll have life support loaded (that covers basic supplies), but Vee might want to add some luxury items. We've got 20 low and 8 high/mid passengers on the trip out. We've also got a load of 80 tons freight bound for Shedezar and 2 tons Spec Cargo (machine tools) that should bring us a profit there.

You can supplement the standard "life support" (which does include decent food for seemingly no extra cost - though High Passengers get better food, there is no adjustment of the life support costs...). You can add some bonus fresh produce and locally sourced meat for 5 cr per day per person to be so fed.

Crew and passengers for two weeks, or as many days the food storage times will allow (in the case of fresh food).

Sounds good, Vee picks a mix of produce, meats, and other locally sourced food optimized for up to two weeks of storage. That does include putting some food in the freezer (still better than the default fare offered with the standard life support cost which is probably significantly canned and pre-frozen foods).

18 * 5 * 14 = 1260 cr for food.

Oh, and I meant to roll an encounter for the colony setup... A herd of 200 kg grazers is in the area. Some colonists set out for a hunt.

Vee reports to Wen. "We have fresh food aboard now. Some of the veggies won't last more than a week, so expect a lot of healthy meals for a few days. The meats will last longer, since we can freeze most of it."
