Ignore my previous questions, I just went with my rolls. Do we have a chance at any magic items since we are third level?

Yes, your characters will be granted one magic item of your choosing. (within reason)

Pick something that you think would fit well, and I will let you know if it is acceptable.

Your HP rolls could have been a bit better, but she looks pretty good other than that "minor" detail. :D

Once you pick out your (acceptable) magic item, Elitir the Half-orc warrior will be approved!

I'm going to play...
Zefarrel, a half-elf Cleric, level 3. (using point buy)
HP rolls for 2nd & 3rd level:
HP: [1d8] = 1 [1d8] = 6
total HP: 15
Working on character sheet now

Edit to re-roll level 2 hp (was a 1):
HP: [1d8] = 6
I rolled another one first & just discarded it. That roller likes to go low
So total HP is now 20. Yay

I think we are re-rolling 1's for HP's. One of the posts covers it I think. That is what I did anyways (I rolled double 1's of course).

Fixed the HP, thanks for the reminder.
OGRE MAGE, how do you handle material components? Also, with my wisdom spell bonus, I get 4 1st level spells and 3 2nd level spells per day right? Do I get to only choose that many spells, or are more available?

Thanks for helping each other out, guys! :D

I enjoy it immensely when players detail their characters use of spell components in their posts, but I am not a stickler about keeping track of every single sprig of mistletoe or dried caterpillar cocoon. A spellcaster would know what he/she needed to use their magic, so components are more or less part of their normal equipment. (unless something "special" is called for in the spell description, of course)

If your Wis is 16, you are correct with the bonuses. Zefarrel could pick from any 4 first and any 3 second level spells to pray for each day.

I'm not sure what you are asking in your last question.

Sorry, I wasn't clear re-reading what I wrote. Each day, can I pray for any spell from the PH from the appropriate levels? Or do I only know the prayers to ask for certain spells and I have to have a combination of those?

2nd Level hp gain: [1d6] = 4 /2 + [1d4] = 3 /2 Whoopsies - need to add together with Con bonus first, then /2, so that’d be: 4 + 3 + 0 = 7 ...divided by 2 = 3.5 (round up to 4).
Then for third level: 3rd level up hp (for Thief): [1d6] = 2 /2 = 1
So hp in total:
1st Level: 6/2 + 4/2 = 5
2nd Level: 4/2 + 3/2 = 4
3rd Level: 2/2 = 1
——
10 hp

All that work for 10 hp??! Son of a...! ;) :)

To be clear: I roll learn percentage for the 1st level spells to know them, in the order I choose. I need a minimum number and have a max number of 1st levels I know. For 2nd level, I do the same, but only know 1 spell?

That sound about right?
