Who said adjusting the situation had to make it better?

My comment was not directed at you, Dave.

Ahh. As it was more a general statement and not directly quoting a previous post, I couldn't really tell.

Either way, if I had developed the situation incorrectly, it should be corrected.

I guess the question is whether someone can push his way past a person trying to block a door. I'd figured the answer was no—if you want to get by, you have to attack and defeat the defender. But I don't know if a rule says that.

Also if Raif was coming to parlay, I'm surprised that he'd try to bull his way into a room instead of parlaying at the door. But people sometimes do surprising things.

Well, where we are is where we are; I'm not going to continue to debate this.

It was never clearly established just how Vernon was carrying out his guard duties.
Rusty Tincanne wrote:He moves to the door to stand guard.
Vernon can haul the gear/loot from the prisoners.
Was he physically standing directly in front of it, or simply positioned in the general area and keeping a watch over it? Or maybe Raif and Yara returned while Vernon was still looting the prisoners?

Either way, Raif and Yara had quietly returned to the room, could clearly hear the group debating its next course of action, and sought to startle the group by entering and making their presence known by responding to a part of the conversation they overheard.

Their plan didn't work as they expected it to because Vernon was there, and I set up the current situation to reflect what I felt was possible/likely given the conflicting intentions -- Vernon's plan to guard the door versus their intentions on entering the room.

The situation was incorrect.
It is now fixed. :)

I'm also really curious what would have happened had we continued to parlay (which, to be clear, is a complaint with Vernon's action, not you, Dave). Would Raif have offered anything interesting and valuable in exchange for "his" people?

Seems crazy to continue without our many sleep and healing spells...
I'm going to need you guys to agree on a course of action before advancing the action one way or the other.

That said, with the competing party (e.g. Raif, Yara) out of the way, the pressure to finish as quickly as possible is not as urgent.

I agree. At this point, we have removed half the enemy for the final showdown. I think we should rest enough to get our sleepers back and hit the goblins in one epic final battle...

Concur. If there's no reason to press on immediately, rest is better than not.

Yup, that's exactly what Horatio would do.

When I saw what the result of the wandering check was, I knew it was something that could have been avoided... as long as the right character was on watch at the time.

Horatio was the obvious choice. :D

AdaRue has wolfsbane with her (part of her midwifery trappings, along with garlic). Anyone have any idea if it works against common wolves or wargs? Or is it just with lycanthropes?

More importantly, would AdaRue know this?

Oops, I confused my games and slipped into 5e mode there for a second.

In LL:
"For each full day of
complete rest, a character or monster will recover 1d3 hp."
I will update the last update to reflect the actual totals with the actual hit points recovered: S: [1d3] = 2, R: [1d3] = 3, D: [1d3] = 2

It turns out Sacro and Rainey are both fully recovered, and only Dimly is left with any damage.

This is one of those times when I should shut up, but BtB that HP recovery comes after a full day of rest, not just sleeping overnight. Not that I'm not happy to have the free HP. :)

As for where we go next: I'll have to let someone with a better conception of the layout of the caves determine that.

I also didn't roll for wandering monsters nearly as often as I should have:
LL, 125 wrote:"Therefore, when
the characters are in a labyrinth the Labyrinth Lord will roll
1d6 every 2 turns, and a result of 1 indicates that a wandering
monster is encountered."

I modified the above rule to fit the state of the goblin tunnels you're in, but made enough checks for 8-hours. That, in my mind, will qualify for a "full day" of rest. Unless, of course, you want me to back the changes out. ;)

Or, you guys could just rest longer and still end up in the same situation you're in now.

Regarding wolfsbane, it can be used to help a victim of lycanthropy fight off the curse, and to ward off the actual lycanthropy monster... but not a regular wolf or even a warg.
