Grimes - Fighter

Grimes bids the fish farewell and with a smile at Ulster and Dandy and says "That was fun. And nothing tried to eat us."

Grimes gives Castinus a hearty handshake as he helps him out of the water. "Got some loot, Casty. Not sure what all of it is."

Ulsterpus swims for what feels like a week. At least there are no bad guys on the bridge with all of you.

From the bottom of the pond, the items are recovered: a laser rifle, a poison gas grenade, an atmosphere analyzer, a strangely crafted girdle--hung with odd ornaments and three leathery straps--and a metal chest.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes busies his idle hands examining the jeweled leather thing while he awaits the opening of the chest...
"Be careful, Casty. That thing could have all sorts of traps on it."

Algrim nods agreeing with Grimes. "Aye careful Castinus."

Castinus searches the chest thoroughly. After feeling about, he discovers that something isn't quite right. He stands, holding in his hand a nasty little device that he's pretty sure would have exploded like a fireball had it been tripped.

Castinus - human thief

Castinus eyes the device with a mix of apprehension and satisfaction. Wonder if this could come in handy later on, he muses. Think we should hang on to it? We could just throw it in the pond, too.

Algrim "Durned thing counda made a big mess eh? Well lets move on then yeah? the dwarf responds to everything.

Dieter - Mage

If nothing else in the chest, Dieter will focus on the structure on the island.

Castinus opens the chest, finding it full of small gold bars. 1200 GP worth of them (100 bars at 12gp value apiece). He wonders how he could have lifted it and finds a dial which seems to affect the weight of the chest. Turning it one way makes the chest heavy, and the other way, light as a feather. He turns it so that the chest floats about waist height behind him and can easily pull it along.

The chest still has some room in it.

The structure has a door that opens at a touch, no keycard required.

Image

This building seems rarely used, dust and debris line the floor, and there is a spiral stair going down in the centre of the room. There is a sign hanging overhead which Castinus translates as "Marine Observatory" and an arrow pointing down.

The stairway spirals down to 50', 70’ and 100’ depth observation floors.

Those that went for a swim recognize the fish and lakebed. You didn't see these from the lake itself, so there must be some sort of illusion hiding the windows from the creatures in the lake.

"Nice," says Ulster. "Not the gold. Gold is gold. But a chest that carries itself along could be handy."

He enjoys the underwater view, but it's not quite as fun as being in the water.

Algrim "Hmm peculiar little place this be, but I like it. Never seen fish in this manner afore." the dwarf watches the fish swim then tries to grab one as it swims by him.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes stares at the fish, strangely satisfied. He tries to command them through the glass to swim in a school in circles in front of Furuk as he watches. As he stares at the fish he says "You know, we don't seem to be getting any closer to solving this thing, whatever it is. Should we go lower and and see if that leads us to something or someone? I keep wondering if someone is pulling the strings here, or trying to off us?"

Castinus - human thief

Castinus eyes the gold bars and the floating storage unit with satisfaction. I could get used to this, he mutters to no one in particular.

He then moves downstairs with the group, smirking at Grimes' attempts to control the fish. What I really want to do is get outta this damned place, but you're right, he says to the halfling. We should keep going down.
