...what did Rabon do to have a Lifestyle check? I forget. He is staying with a friend for free, didn't roll haggle and didn't roll circles. If he didn't incur a lifestyle check he should Dig for Clues before we go to make sure he gets up to an Ob1 test.

I didn't think it worth tapping nature by demanding better foods. I'll want the Persona later, I expect.

Looking forward to another character joining us, by the way. I like the basic rules options, fwiw. A halfling or dwarf might be nice for the fighting (along with other bonuses), but an elf would also round us out nicely because it would help Allric's tests.

Resources is only helped by resources... But the tax applies to everyone (rough!).

I think the only loophole is Rabon's appraisal-wise. It might allow him to help without risking tax. (Other skills? No. Resources is not a skill.)

No, I allocated group coin for getting out of town:

- Thag gets 4D cash (+1D Fresh) to pass an Ob3 lifestyle test
- Allric gets 2D cash (+1D Fresh +1D Resources) to pass Ob2 lifestyle test.
- Rabon and Berry get 2D cash (+1D Fresh) each to pass Ob1 lifestyle tests

Right now, nobody has "raw resources" except Allric, who bumped to 1D when he bought the lantern oil. Hopefully everyone bumps with the lifestyle test.

So... Rabon used 2D coin buying rations. Was that from his starting coin? (And then he uses treasure to pay lifestyle to leave town?) I am trying to clean up his character sheet a bit.

That shows Rabon with a helmet still. Was that sold for 1D coin via Thag's haggle roll? Or was that something else?

Yeah, we sold a helmet. I forgot it was that one. I'll remove it from the document? (We should all be able to edit it, though?)

Allric is carrying a sack with two potions in it... if others end up with space in their packs, want to take a potion there?

A few untimely questions about the Town Phase:

Step 1 is "spend remaining checks." Does that mean we didn't need to enter a camping phase first? That we could have done all the camp stuff at the gates? (Like there is a tent city outside the town walls, perhaps?)

Step 4 is "to the dogs." We only needed to discard fresh rations, not preserved rations. I don't remember now, but I thought that some of our rations were preserved. I know that is what Rabon had with him when he started the adventure.

I will say that number 1 is legit, but we didnt catch it so we will have to call it next time. As for 2 idk myself.

Our camp phase was uneventful, so it is a wash, really. I was just asking for future reference.

Edit: Also, Rabon is overloaded.

He has:
10' pole - carry 2
grappling hook - pack 2
rope - pack 2
lantern - pack 2/carry 1
rations (2) - pack 1
small sacks - pack 2
oil (2) - pack 1

How do you all fel about losing the 10' pole and a cloak? He can wear the rope and carry the lantern for everyone.
Then he'd pack the grappling hook (2) and food (1) in his satchel, and keep the oil (1) and sacks (1) in the quiver.

If Thag and Rabon both have scouting areas as an instinct, they can do it together, offering help to one another. But we haven't had any use for the grappling hook at all, which is a pack 2 item... Thoughts?

We did actually talk that through right before we camped. It was back here.

The impetus was to actually used the checks for camp actions (study mushrooms, make a map, etc) so he ruled that we did have to make actual camp to pursue those goals.

I remember the conversation, but I am just thinking more on it. When else can you spend a check for a test? (Aside from using one to gain advancement on a test with a helping die.) I thought they are only allowed to be used during the camp phase. Which makes the act of camping redundant per the rules. As I reread stuff, I don't think we needed to make cap before entering the Town.

Well checks can only be used in camp, or on the way into town phase as per rules. Ludanto was saying the things we wanted to do would take more time than we had just walking into town.

I actually thought the same thing, but somebody brought to my attention that things work otherwise.

Specifically, while part of approaching town is "Spend Remaining Checks", the details of that say to spend them on Recovery. It doesn't say that you _can't_ use them for other tests, but it does tell you to what to do with any "extra" checks, and making other tests _isn't_ part of that list. (Page 86)
