Do I understand correctly that the wargs are about to flee, but the goblins are not?

Oh, no. The goblins are totally chickenshit - they aren't even entering the clearing and will flee as well. I was highlighting the Wargs because they're in melee with you (and the bigger deal).

Standard flight rules - they're full-out running, you can attack them with a +4 bonus to hit. At night, in the forest, they'll be out of sight in one round unless you also give chase. If you pursue them into the dark, I'll figure out how to apply the outdoor chase rules. :)

Olaf isn't bloodthirsty; he allows the wargs and goblins to flee. "Ye'd think the gobs be knowing not to attack us by now," he muses.

Hereward deals out one last thwack for good measure.

Light hammer (THAC0 19): [1d20+1] = 12+1 = 13 [1d6+1] = 3+1 = 4
Add +4 to hit.

"That'll warn ye!", he shouts.

Halfpint continues swatting with her recently acquired short sword.

I don't think we need Init for the free fleeing attack... it's just a free attack.

Earc draws his own short sword and attempts a clumsy swipe at the nearest fleeing warg.

Shortsword [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3 Damage [1d6+1] = 3+1 = 4 THAC018

The wargs turn to disengage and flee. Hereward (-4), Halfpint (-5), and Florian (-8) all strike the wolves in the rear-ends and elicit yelps as they tuck their tails and flee faster, though none are fatally harmed by the blows. Steve tries valiantly but misses his strike again, while Funil and Drunil follow Olaf's example and let the wargs leave with some shred of dignity. The two goblins dissappeared into the woods as quickly as their five remaining wargs (if not quicker), abandoning the four goblin comrades unmoving in the brush.

With just under an hour of rest, the night still stretches long before you, your bedrolls rumpled where you just hopped out of them, two massive warg corpses now gracing your campsite among them.

Halfpint finds that three of goblins already bled-out after dashing their skulls open in their falls, but two lie unconscious. You slit their throats.

Earc inspects the grimy riding leathers of the goblins, and finds:
32 electrum pieces bearing a closed fist sigil
Five southron shortbows
37 arrows
5 goblin-made spears

Earc takes the 32 electrum pieces and leaves the bows, arrows, and spears for anyone who might be able to use them.

"I'd rather not camp by dead wargs and goblins... but maybe having them sort of near us could work as a deterrent. And give wild animals something to go for aside from us. Let's move towards the back entrance for a quarter of an hour and then make camp again. Unless someone else has a better idea?"

(if we need to separately check the wargs, Halfpint will do so)
She will take the arrows and try to break any shortbow no one else wants.

Hereward examines his wound. "Tis' but a scratch."

Kneeling on one knee, he thanks Gwanwen for helping to restore the balance of Nature with the defeat of the wargs & goblins.

Then, looking round at the others, he says, "I agree with Earc. Let's find somewhere else to make camp. They may be returning with reinforcements."

The party moves off in the darkness, the smell of blood and battle fading quickly in the old loamy forest which covers this patch of hills. You settle down in a new sheltered Grove concealing your glow sticks and resuming watch in the darkness. You hear the howling of wolves, the cries of goblin voices, larger parties searching the wood, but they do not find you. The sun rises and they retreat to their tower. The party wakes, rested and relieved, the casters studying and praying before it is time to depart.

(subtract rations, note a new days spells, post a new plan.)

Earc eats and studies his spells for the day.

After breaking camp, he gets his bearings and leads the party in a wide circle around the tower back to the stream and waterfall entrance.

"Careful. We've been away a bit, so who knows if anything has moved in while we were gone..."

Hereward finishes praying before breaking fast.

"Well friends, my knowledge of this place is sadly lacking. Do we head straight through the water fall? "

Ear leads a circular path wide around the tower to ensure that the party doesn't encounter it, eventually finding the waterfall again. It is more difficult without the squirrels. The narrow footpath remains invisible against the stone face until Earc reveals it, leading the group and the mounts down to the waterfall's flowing waters. A single step through, and the party is in the other side, concealed within the tunnel. The single-file hallway stretches into the darkness, maybe a mile underground before reaching the bathing chamber, knowing that the mounts can't turn or back up until reaching it.
