Re: Ch. 3: Hell's Bells
Odilo having no clue what the heck the creature is will try and stay out of the silence radius and cast magic missile at the creature.
Magic Missile Alternate [8d4+8] = 21+8 = 29

Re: Ch. 3: Hell's Bells
"Pelor's Balls!" cries Tanner. "What the hells is this?"
Hallagad flinches at Tanner's blasphemy, but lets it go until later. He tries to plug his ears before drawing his sword. Xale follows suit and starts casting a spell of silence on a coin in his pouch.
Odilo utters a much milder oath. "What the blazes is that?" he says with surprise and a bit of wonder.
The thing speaks. None of you understand the language, but it sounds deranged and angry. "Zghargh vzholk l'hlar qtakxk vzhka!" it begins, turning to look at each of you. Tanner and Khogeki meet its gaze. There is something extremely unsettling about it. The monk's eyes grow wide. Abject horror overcomes his usually placid face. He gasps, and tries to speak, but his last words remain unsaid. The monk collapses like a puppet whose strings have been cut.
Urson, please save vs. death for Tanner. Good luck.
"Azh'vok vko!" continues the monster. "Ashogk zqu'xka—" Its words are interrupted by a volley of blue energy bolts from Odilo's fingertips. It staggers, but it just seems angrier.
All goes eerily quiet as Xale finishes his spell that shrouds the entire room in silence. You are protected against sounds—which, it turns out, is not the sense you should have been worried about.

Hallagad smiles at the abomination. He does not try to avoid its gaze. Rather, he seems to be trying to meet it! He strides towards the thing, holy avenger in hand, and attacks. He mouths something, but it's lost to the enchanted air.
Reminder: the Holy Avenger gets another +10 against chaotic evil opponents

Re: Ch. 3: Hell's Bells
Odilo sighs at the misfortune but what else would you expect in a demon ship owned by one known for chaos he thinks. Then begins casting another spell if he can get a clear shot at the creature. Casting Disintegrate aimed at the creatures head and torso.

Re: Ch. 3: Hell's Bells
Sorry about the delay, everyone.
"__________ __________" shouts the man-shaped monster, the silence spell eating his words. He waves his mace but doesn't attack with it. He tries to look at each of you—angrily, pleadingly, insanely, coldly—it's hard to tell which, or all, without meeting its gaze. It catches the eyes of Odilo, who is casting a spell at it. Please roll saves vs. death.
Upon seeing his friend go down, Xale decides play time is over. He hurls his mighty hammer, battering the monster with two powerful but silent blows. Hallagad smiles, looks the abomination in the eyes, and steps right up to it. His holy sword utterly disintegrates the evil monster before Odilo has a chance to complete his spell.
All is quiet again. Er, still. It was quiet during the battle, and it's still quiet. Spells do that.

Tanner
Tanner says something- apparently something harsh, by his expression, and takes a defensive stance, in case something else pops up.

Malibran to Risdac "I hope they are okay up there..."
Re: Ch. 3: Hell's Bells
Odilo drops dead from the monster's gaze. It's not his first time dying, though (or does having your soul sucked into a gem by a mad demi-lich count as "dying?").
Nothing else pops up at the moment.

Well, I can cast levitate on myself and then pull you up with a rope if we want to head up there. Probably not a bad idea. I'd hate to think they forgot about us.

Yes, that is what I'm afraid of. While this height does have some advantages, it will also make it much more difficult to get through normal sized corridors. I don't relish the idea of being on my hands and knees in order to make it through. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be just a figure of speech when referring to a dungeon crawl.

Hallagad smiles and nods at Xale. Then he sees Odilo fall. He knows one of his companions has the power to raise the dead, but the paladin is apprehensive given how this foul place distorts magic.
He steps to where he's outside the sphere of silence and stands on guard, waiting to see if Odilo will be resurrected.

Re: Ch. 3: Hell's Bells
Xale picks up Odilo's lifeless body and returns to the ledge above the hallway where Risdac and Malibran have been waiting. Hallagad steps out of the zone of silence and stands guard. Tanner, shocked by the deaths, does nothing. Rool—well, you don't know what's going on with Rool, who is in another room and in gaseous form besides.

Re: Ch. 3: Hell's Bells
Malibran will, with Pholtus' blessing, attend to Odillo.
He will carefully go over the body and soul and pray for a restful state from which to begin the powerful prayer. Several minutes pass with folded hands and quiet wishes to his Lord to ask for the way clear to restoring a brave warrior of righteousness to the Light.
Malibran's hands move above the body of Odillo in a rhythmic pattern with a warm blue light beginning to emanate from the lifeless body. The prayers are whispers at first which become louder and more assertive with each utterance and the blue light becomes difficult to gaze upon, "vivere rursus in lucem...vivere rursus in lucem...vivere rursus in lucem...... VIVERE RURSUS IN LUCEM!"
Pray for Raise Dead with the blessing of Pholtus
