The dire rat rears up at the cloud of smoke but seems to keep its distance, not approaching the circle of heroes. Wharrem calmly holds his ground, waiting for the rodents of unusual size to make the first move. The giant rats seemed to be frightened and alarmed by the smoke and make to scatter but a feral growl from the dire rat keeps them in line if only for the moment. Loch uses the chaos created by the smoke to launch his javelin at the dire rat, catching the beast on the shoulder which it merely shakes off. Flynn throws a dagger at the rightmost of the giant rats, missing horribly. "Rut you, mon! Eat dis!" He switches to his bow, ready to shoot next round.
