"The only good warg or wolf is a dead one," opines Lord Commander Bremen, and it seems everyone agrees. The group sets upon the napping canines at range - Baxtaw elicits a yelp as he shoots a warg
(-4), while Stantz and Osana slay the smallest wolf with their well-placed arrow
(-4) and dart
(-3). Bremen's crossbow jams utterly, failing to shoot rather embarrassingly
(Critical fumble).
Rowine and Crowgar also launch arrows into the mix - Rowine deftly targets the lead warg, sinking two shafts into its hide behind Baxtaw's
(-6, -4). Three feathered fletchings stick from its hide, but it still stands. Stantz's second shaft hits the second warg, giving it a moment of pause as Lug runs its direction. Baxtaw's second shaft hits one of the wolves in the flank, eliciting a snarl. Piers and Osana try again, but their second volley is to no avail.
Lug leads the charge with his massive sword, cleaving deep into the side of the second massive warg. The wolves leap to its aid, but achieve no success against the massive human besides worrying the leather straps on his greaves with their teeth. The wounded lead warg turns on the warrior and bites his forearm.
(-2) Bremen charges in on his warhorse with Father Clauson at his side behind Lug -- They cause confusion in the melee but neither of their weapons connect. They keep the wolves teeth away from them and their mounts.
One warg and two wolves remaining, they are bolstered by the drawing of blood and redouble their efforts against the men and horses who have charged willingly into their jaws. The six mounted men remain back, an effective wall to protect the archers for a charge that doesn't come.
