Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!

Lhainor will stand guard at the SE door, "shillelagh" in hand.

Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
Through the west door, you see a tunnel heading west. Directly to the west, there is a door in the north wall. Beyond this, there is a bricked up door to the north. Beyond that, at the limits of your torchlight, you see that the tunnel turns south.

Lhainor will listen at the SE door and, if no one objects, open it and see what lies beyond.

Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
Not hearing anything behind the southeast door, Fingolwyn opens it...
He finds another empty, strangely shaped, small room. The southeast door opens into a small alcove at the northeast end of the room. The room extends 10 feet further south, and 10 feet to the west of the door, making a sort of "L" shape going north and west.
In addition to the door you came in (heading northwest from here) there is a door heading south, and a door heading west.
The various recently exposed paths consist of...
A door to the north (from the west door's corridor)
A bricked up door to the north (from the west door's corridor)
A passage south (from the west door's corridor)
A door west (from the southeast door's room)
A door south (from the southeast door's room)

Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
That's an awful lot of potential territory. Do we want to hole up for the night in the Green Man shrine? I'm OK with that, as well as pressing on a bit further if we want.drpete wrote:The various recently exposed paths consist of...

If we press on, which of those five choices do we want to follow? I would suggest NOT the bricked up door, at least not tonight. No need to attract wandering monsters to this area if we're thinking about holing up nearby soon.

Agreed about the bricked up door for sure. Might as well rest for now.

OK, let's head to the Green Man shrine and rest for the night. Lhainor will keep first watch.

Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
Alright...
The group holes up in the Green Man shrine. Space is fairly restrictive, but you are all able to find a place to sit. Setting the lantern up on the altar provides a reasonable amount of light.
You eat a meal, and settle into a fitful sleep, only somewhat comforted by the green man's altar.
In the middle of the night, early on in Nimh's watch, there is a scuffling sound outside the shrine, but it does not try to disturb you. The rest of the night passes without incident, and you are all refreshed. Taking stock, you note that you have 10 torches among you, and no more oil.
What next?

Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
You go out of the shrine, into the tomb of the green man priest. This is a 10x20 room with a door to the south. You remember that there is a secret door to the west, leading back toward the body of Fane.

Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
Alright...
You head west. You pass through the secret door, into the room with the gloves. You move west through this room to the room where Fane died. Going west from there, you come to a 30x30 room.
This room has a door in the north wall, a hallway running east, and a door to the southeast southwest. You had last explored the area behind the southeast door before deciding to rest the night, but there are unexplored areas in all three directions.

If I remember correctly, that door is stuck (we've tried to open it a couple times, though I'm not adverse to trying again) and whatever is beyond it should soon link up with where we came in. The rat room is just down the hall a bit.
There should also be a slanted door in the SW that leads to a door we haven't tried yet (and a tunnel that takes us back to some secret doors and such and eventually the Green Man shrine).
I think the "hallway running east" goes to places we haven't explored yet too. We came in that way, but through the rat room.
Lhainor will attempt to open the possibly stuck North door if you want.

Re: Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!
You're right... I had written that the door went southeast, but it was to the southwest.
It's been a while, but the door to the north was a stuck one that you've tried before... when you last tried to force it, a zombie was attracted to the noise, came out of the east corridor and attacked you.
So, is that votes to try to force the door, or just spitballing, so far?

Lhainor will try to force the door open. If that fails, he will use the sledge and a wedge and try again.
Someone (Kohrek?) should stand on watch in case this attracts more wandering monsters.
