Thurwin - Wizard

Thurwin will lie in wait with the others as the tower is scouted out. Once it's cleared he'll make his way in with the rest of the gang, eager to get some rest and read his spellbook. Assuming the tower has no surprises, Thruwin will try to rest, volunteering for a later watch if possible.

OOC: Yay! Gained a level! added HP. [1d4+1] = 3+1 = 4

Zef helps scout the tower, paying particular attention to any tracks that might be outside it.

Zef and Calthas search outside. Confident that there are no nefarious tracks, Zef and Bror enter the tower.

The two look about. There is dirt and dust and new spider webs, but nothing they can see until...

Image
A creature flies at the two. surprise [1d6] = 4 But it doesn't get the drop on Zef or Bror.

They are the only two in the tower and can attack (or flee or whatever). The rest of the party is outside the tower and needs to react accordingly. All they notice is vague "commotion inside".

Actions?

Hit points and marching order
Zef 18/18
--Calthas 12/18
Tavin 6/9 < CLW >
--Odo Bracegirdle 14/14
Calmert 14/14 <0/3/friends>
--Thurwin 12/13 <, >

"Blast, what is that thing!" Zef quickly takes a swipe at the creature with his battle-axe:

Zef battleaxe [1d20+3] = 5+3 = 8 damage [1d8+3] = 2+3 = 5

Bror "Damned if I know." the dwarf replies using glimmer against the shade crature? 'Glimmer' Hand Axe +1 [1d20+2] = 20+2 = 22 to Hit [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6 DMG

"'Allo!" cries Odo. "What's going on in there?" He takes bow in hand and approaches cautiously.

Calthas curses in his teeth, takes his bow, prepares an arrow and rushes inside the tower to help his companions.

Shades of home, round 1

Initiative players [1d6] = 4, baddies [1d6] = 5

The creature attacks (Zef or Bror which? [1d2] = 2) Bror! monster attack [1d20] = 1 fumble [1d4] = 1 "Your incompetent blow makes you the laughingstock of the party but otherwise causes no damage." If the creature had friends, they'd all be laughing. Of course, if it had friends it might not feel the need to haunt this tower in the first place and we might not be in this predicament to begin with.

Zef swings and misses, but Bror scores a strike critical hit! [1d10] = 4 "Hammering blow drives nose cartilage into brain. Inflict +1d12 damage with this strike, and the foe suffers 1d6 Int loss." dmg [1d12] = 10

Calthas and Thurwin enter the tower. Everyone else stays outside yelling unhelpful advice.

Actions?

Zef 18/18
--Calthas 12/18
Tavin 6/9 < CLW >

"Why do they never bring the combat outside?" wonders Odo. He shrugs and follows Calthas into the tower.
