Hmm, someday I guess I need to write a guide to generating a Classic Traveller character... Career switching isn't allowed in Classic Traveller.RotFuchs wrote:Ok, I made another character (since all my Belter attempts died after 1st or 2nd survival roll, one died in 4th roll bummer). I am enlisting for 2 careers, Marines and Other. 2 terms each
UPP: 889BB5
Marines
Enlistment: 9/9 pass
Survival 1: 7+2/6 pass
Survival 2: 6+2/6 pass
Muster out: 9/12 pass
Rank: 7/9 fail, 3/9 fail, so I have Rank 1-Lt
Other
Enlistment: 5/6 pass
Survival 1: 2+3/5 pass
Survival 2: 5+2/5 pass
Muster out: 7/12 pass
Character Age: 36 years
2+2=4 terms, 2d6 rolls I passed everything so nothing changes.
Muster Out rolls:
Marines: 4 (Blade - Knife)
Other: 6 (nothing)
Cash (Marine): 3 - 5000Cr
Cash (Other): 2 - 5000Cr
Is this correct? Also I have to roll for 8 skills, right?
It's best to roll the skills as you go, if you take personal development rolls, you might improve attributes that are relevant to survival, commission, and promotion rolls.
Until you get a commission, you have no rank. Also, if drafted, you don't get to roll for commission first term.
Sorry this is turning into such a chore. This is all spelled out in the rules but may not be so obvious to folks who have been brought up on newer games...
p.s. One of these days, I'll take Rob Conley's additions to add the Supplement 4 careers to the Online Character Generator and hook them up with my options (including an option for the alternate skill tables I use) and then you could actually generate a Belter...
