Castinus readies his bow, but waits for the spell to take effect.

Oc: Sorry for the delay. My post from the weekend somehow disappeared.

INITIATIVE baddies [1d6] = 5 party [1d6] = 6

A dank cloud fills the chamber and then tendrils of entangling vines leap from the creatures themselves. (Judge's ruling: the entangling spell does not get a save as they are especially vulnerable.) They hold fast in the stinking environment: immobile and seemingly sick.

Castinus bow of doubling [1d20+3] = 16+3 = 19, [1d20+3] = 13+3 = 16 One of the creatures dmg [1d8] = 2, [1d8] = 7 is sevely wounded from Castinus' bow. The rest of the party holds fast, waiting to see what will happen next.

If we hold them we need to do something with them... I prefer to weed the garden.

Ulster sighs in resignation. "I have no way to talk to them again today," he says. "So I guess we have to kill them."

Algrim nods to Ulster and engages the enemy plantmen. Spear +3 [1d20+3] = 17+3 = 20 To Hit [1d6+3] = 2+3 = 5 Dmg

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes wastes no time and with a sneer says "KILL EM!" And he hacks at the mass with his shortsword.

[1d20+2] = 10+2 = 12

Furuk - Fighter

"Well, it looks like we have to kill them."

Furuk slashes through the plants with his sword.

Scimitar of Vorpal Slicing [1d20+5] = 17+5 = 22

Damage [1d8+5] = 6+5 = 11

Castinus, human thief

Castinus considers switching to his sword, the thought of hacking at plants a pleasant one. But, he fires another round of arrows with his bow of doubling.

[1d20+3] = 7+3 = 10
[1d20+3] = 18+3 = 21

OC: Arrow deducted from last round and this round.

"I'll not take part in murderin' such helpless folk, I'm not sensin' they are evil," Dandy says, backing away.

"There's plenty that'll kill you without a thought without being evil," counters the druid. "These plant men among them. Do you have any other ideas, or would you rather wait for them to attack us again?"

Can we attack in melee without getting ourselves engangled or entering the stinking cloud? If so:
Staff of the Woodlands +2 (THAC0 14): [1d20+4] = 16+4 = 20 [1d4+4] = 1+4 = 5

Nope, but it seems like your companions want to wade in to the cloud and grasping tendrils

Of course, the DM is often slow to post the next round, so everyone could change actions if they wanted to.

Hah! In that case, can I use the same attack roll for a sling attack, or do I need to make a new roll?

Sure, we'll call it +1 instead of +4 so a 16 rather than a 20. Easy peasy.

Dieter - Mage

Dieter pegs the toughest looking one with magic missile.

Magic missle [5d4+5] = 14+5 = 19

OCC: Spell deducted.

Grimes - Fighter

Oops, overlooked stinky cloud.

Grimes holds back, sword at the ready, anxious to get some licks in on the veggie guys if the opportunity presents itself.

Furuk - Fighter

Furuk stops short of the cloud and reconsiders his melee attack. He takes a few steps back and exchanges his sword for a crossbow.

The enemies are hopeless and Dandy preaches peace, but the Druid counter-argues and no one follows the dwarven cleric's words. It's a moot point as all four are slain instantly by long spear, magic missile, arrow, and bolt.
