No problemo. I've not exactly been keeping the posts flowing.

Can Ulster talk while he's in animal form? Or does he need to shift forms?

I should have had him change into a parrot. :)

He cannot unless the listener can speak the appropriate animal tongue.

On sinking the ship:

The druid version of Transmute Rock to Mud has an AoE of 20' cubed per caster level. So I think that's a 20x20x20 cube per level. Ulster could make 12 cubes. So he could make a mud field 80' long x 60' wide x 20' deep. That's smaller than even the hold we just got thrown out of.

So I don't think we can sink it.

BTW, this is where I miss the AD&D 1e version of Insect Plague. In AD&D, it summons a cloud of insects 360 yards across and 60 yards high (when outdoors). The cloud does 1 hp/round to anything in it. Creatures of 2HD or fewer must flee. Creatures of 5 HD or fewer must save or flee. It lasts one turn per level of the druid. If a druid of Ulster's level were to cast it, the cloud of insects would last for two hours!

The LL AEC version is 60' in diameter and merely causes creatures of 2HD or fewer to flee. It does no damage. And it only lasts 1 round per level. And it's still a fifth level spell! Pfui.

AD&D 1e Insect Plague is the ultimate "you do not want to mess around with high level druids and clerics" spell. The LL version is a waste of a 5th-level spell slot.

That's my vote. Owing a demon something is not cool.

Algrim doesn't care he'd go hunt down giants if that was the groups wish. IF not for this then he goes back to mercenary work or being hired as a town/city guard, or *gasp* retirement! :o
