Seven nods "That we do. Shall we get the hell out of here or do we want to tangle with ghouls?"

Zeke says, I'd prefer to grab the food and run. Keep an eye out for towels. We can wrap them around the barrels of our guns and make them quieter. That way, we can shoot a couple of ghouls without waking up the whole damn lot of them.

Remember the murder of Don Fanucci in Godfather II?

If you wish to look for towels in the storage room, go ahead and roll a d20. Since this is a hotel, the chances of finding some will be high. A 5 or better is all you need.

Zeke

While he waits for his companions to decide if they want to follow him to the kitchen, Zeke looks around for towels to make a crude silencer on his pipe rifle.

Zeke gives Seven a thumbs up as they find a stack of towels.

Zeke wraps one around the barrel of his rifle and stuffs two more into his belt.

Let's get moving. Slow and quiet. C'mon, Deuce, you coming?

Seven whispers back to Deuce "No the names Seven."

The small group finds themselves in a bombed hotel in search of supplies. Rumor of untouched goods in the kitchen proved too great a opportunity to pass up. With pipe weapons and pistols wrapped for silence, the group makes a right into the corridor before them, following the directions on the conveniently placed fire escape map nearby.

The pale green light glowing in the distance proves to be just what the group feared, a pack of irradiated ghouls. The sounds of the claw scraping and growls are one thing, easy for the observant listener to pick up, but the real kicker, the thing that EVERYONE noticed, upon exiting the room, was the horrible stench. Not having taken a shower for many decades will do that to a person, and the ghoul's scent wafting in the air was anything but subtle.

The glowing light comes from the around the corner, towards the stairs you need to take to the lower floor. How does the group proceed?

Remember to roll a d20 if you are going to take an action that has a chance to fail (shooting, causing a distraction, sneaking by....).

Zeke says Let's open a door on the left and make some noise in there. Then we hide in the opposite room on the right. When the ghouls go into the room on the left, we close the door behind them and jam it shut. If they see us, we shoot them. What do you two think?

Seven says not a word but merely nods his head agreeing to the plan.

Zeke says, I'll lead and move past the room. I've got the ghouls at the end of the corridor, if they hear us. Seven, you open the door on the left. Deuce, after we're sure the room on the left is clear, you open the opposite door on the right. Once both rooms are clear, we'll move into the room on the right and make some noise in the room to the left.

Zeke then moves out, slowly and quietly. He stops just past room 214 and 201. He keeps his pipe rifle pointed toward the end of the corridor, where the sickly green glow emanates.

EDIT: [1d20] = 1 moving silently down the hallway

Oh crap.

Seven crouches down and slowly makes his way over to the door for room 214 and slowly and as quietly as possible attempts to open the door. Holding his revolver in one hand.

Duece groans after hearing a someone step onto a sheet of partially concealed glass. So much for stealth

[1d20] = 9

The group cringes with the sound, and prepares for the worst, their guns at the ready. Duece dares not move from the room, and both Zeke and Seven freeze in spot. A few seconds pass... a few more... relief washes over you as you realize the ghouls have not noticed. You still have the element of surprise, or at least you hope so.

Seven continues with the plan, cautiously, and manage to open the door quietly enough (strange how this one wasn't locked...). The room is your typical hotel room, but time has taken its toll on this place. The bed and its frame are still intact, but not much more can be seen without a better look inside. What's important though is that it appears empty.

The room you are inspecting does not have any other occupants. You notice there are a few old cupboards, some of the drawers partially ajar and plenty of debris across the floor. Nothing is glowing in the darkness and you do not hear any movement inside.
