Iggway looks around to see where the main attack is coming from, she will then cast Magic Missile on the cottage.

Geoffrey Blood,

having jolted the horses and wagon contents out of the immediate firing line, he now pulls them all to a sudden halt, aided by the three aggressors who grab for the reins. Scimitars in hand they launch their attacks over the ponies aiming to cut down the driver and the officers.
The first lunges for Mr Simonsen who jumps from the wagon, nimbly dodging the man's blade.

Iberian marines [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12 damage [1d8+1] = 6+1 = 7

He ripostes in return, a dextrous cut between the man's ribs. Mr Simonsen melee [1d20+1] = 13+1 = 14 damage [1d8+1] = 7+1 = 8 The man sags limply on the end of his blade before wordlessly collapsing to the floor.

His two comrades lunge at Geoffrey, hemmed in. One stabs through Geoffrey's studded leather, Blood is blooded -2hp, gasping in shock that his brave adventure may end so quickly. The ponies whinny and take the action to nudge forward. It is enough for the opponent, already wounded to fumble his attack. Slipping, the wagon rolls over his legs, snapping the bones gruesomely.

Iberian marines [1d20+1] = 16+1 = 17 damage [1d8+1] = 1+1 = 2
Iberian marines [1d20+1] = 1+1 = 2 damage [1d8+1] = 6+1 = 7

Captain Lazarus , steps over the headboard and confronts the remaining man threatening Geoffrey. Lazarus it seems is made for boats having sea legs and not for wagons. At a critical time he trips, falling prone on the ground.Lazarus melee [1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3 damage [1d8+2] = 7+2 = 9

Behind in the wagon, the McGregor marines reload muskets, Rexlin, counting out the steps, "Open lock, pinch the powder, ram the bore." It is a long process loading, muskets sacrificing reload time for more range and power. At least you know the musket bearers in the cottage are going through the same drill.

Cravat, grabs the loose reins and pulls the wagon towards the ferry, the rear wheels doing further crushing to the unfortunate victim it rolls over.

Along the track, the trio are left separated.

The Scholar invokes a shield spell, hoping unseen wards can divert the course of the musket balls. Not sure where to go he takes cover behind the trunk of a thin palm tree. He saves to the others to come and rescue him, daring not to move.

Iggway Gwequay , also incanted a spell.your Magic Missile has only a range of 70'ft and is not able to target the men in the cottage. However, the spell us such that once cast, the spell or the trigger to fire the missiles may be held in reserve for up to one turn. So you may roll damage 1d4+1, and if an enemy comes within range you may target them. You are encouraged to take cover
and may join Whiskers in the salt drainage culvert. You look for him, but only see the dead body if the wagon driver. Rather than be in open ground and with the only tree taken, there seems little choice but to shelter there. To run down the track might just be like a turkey shoot.

At this point Geoffrey you may go man to man with the Iberian marine, as you are the only ones in present melee. Everyone else either loading or sheltering. Give me a d20 attack and damage roll and d6 initiative roll please... ;)

Iggway takes cover with Whiskers and waits to see how the others fair. She asks Whiskers... What's happening? Do you know who these men are?. She looks around to see if anyone is advancing on them.

ooc: So there is a lot going on here and to be honest I am loosing track of where everyone is even after reading through several times. Can we get a rough map to give us some reference? It seems like there is pretty much a line from cottage to wagon, to ferry with a ditch along the side, correct?

Okay, description wise, the wagon descended a sharp incline coming down from the hill. This side of the island is roughly sickle shaped, the whole round bit of the bay being a flat expanse of salt drainage ditches, dotted with small white square structures, ( maybe 10 or 20 feet square, with waist high retaining walls). A few scattered workmen rake salt into barrows. At the sound of musket fire, they have scattered of take cover under sparse bush and tree or in the drain lines which criss cross the pans, dividing the place up into neat little sections.

The track circles the bay and continues up the 'handle of the sickle' to end in a ferry raft. The raft is used to oar and pulley across the few miles divide which separate South Caicos from the next island East Caicos. The sea here is sheltered by a large coral bank and the depth is only a few feet, so crossing, while laborious is not too difficult.

The track passes in front of a simple two storey cottage which overlooks the ferry and salt flats.

At the ferry point, the track ends. Several thick gorse and sisal trees provide some shelter and occasional palm or wild olive tree are along the track.

You can triangulate a point from the cottage to the track you were first fired on and the ferry terminus. About 120 yards approximate.

A few opponents were hiding under cover by the ferry, they have attacked with swords. The rest of the opponent's are in the cottage or creeping along the drainage ditches to sneak behind Iggway and Tariks pair.

Rexlin, Geoff, the Capt' and marines are at the ferry, which has had the pulley ropes cut.

Hope that helps to visualise, imagine a cottage like this but no protecting wall,

Geoffrey quickly responds with a jab of his own.

Long Sword [1d20+1] = 18+1 = 19 ; damage [1d8+1] = 4+1 = 5 sm/md ; [1d12+1] = 2+1 = 3 Lg

Spearmint edit: you are actually at +2 to hit due to a +1 bonus from strength and also a +1 race bonus for Bretons who use longswords.

Rexlin "Devil's Scowl" Dupre

ooc: Thanks! That clarifies things nicely. Please let me know what I need to roll for the following action since it is technically an improvised weapon.

Looking down and seeing opportunity in the face of the iberian marine with the crushed legs, Rexlin jumps down and slams the but of his musket down on the unfortunate man's face. Seeing the Iberian uniform he curses wondering if they are after him. "Not going back.... not going back.... not going back!"

(Assuming that works) Rexlin will make a few quick grabs for weapons and gear before taking cover under the wagon and crawling to the other side.

Geoffrey , strikes a solid blow on the marine attacking him and the Captain, forcing him to take a backward step. He turns the Captains' blade away from slicing him further but doesn't score a hit in return. Geoffrey, your next melee attack please.

An exchange of musket fire takes place, the McGregors' men firing at the cottage windows. Musket balls ricochet off the walls. Rexlin, improvises the musket into a club and caves the wheel crushed man's skull. From your position Rexlin you may fire at long range into the cottage, there is at least one figure behind each of the upper floor windows. Or you may shoot at the group of men currently approaching down a side salt drainage ditch close to Iggway.(Medium range and out of cover).

The cottage window frames light up with little puffs of smoke as the Iberian marines return fire. The previous injured sailor taking a second wound. This time it is fatal.

Out from the main door of the cottage exit a small squad of armed men. More than half a dozen. They run to leap over a ditch and charge down the track. It looks like melee will close in the next round. Captain Lazarus , points for the men to disembark the wagon and form a line, giving them a single order. It is the one which soldiers and sailors alike hate the most. "Fix bayonets!"

Cravat and Mr Simonsen join the end of the line, cutlasses drawn.

As noted by Rexlin, a small group of figures are creeping along a ditch behind Iggway. The 'Scholar' sees them from his spot behind the trunk and gasps a warning. One, an officer, stands and fires a pistol shot at him, it should strike his chest but the mage shield spell holds firm, deflecting the bullet. A string of sticky webs shoot from his hands, creating a mass of sticky filaments which snare half the group. They begin hacking at the strands with daggers trying to release themselves. Iggways magic missile is triggered and the officer jolts back momentarily, an electric stabbing piercing his body, stopping him short of the shaman. Before another can set upon you, from out of the shadows and ground a shape grabs one guy from the rear, cutting his throat. A moment ago, Whiskers, was not seen but his attack brings him visible once more. "They are Iberian forces. Regulars by the look of them.", he says to Iggway. Iggway you may take your next action. The pistol waving officer and another are within melee range next round, four men remain tangled in the web.

So, character attacks and actions please.

Rexlin "Devil's Scowl" Dupre

As he takes cover behind the wagon again, adrenaline pumping hard in his temples, he notes the marine has died and shakes his head. Poor lad, he thinks to himself. He quickly assesses the situation now having two muskets he aims the first at the Officer heading toward Iggy and her Scholar. He takes aim at first the officer and...
At Officer:
[1d20-3] = 19-3 = 16 [2d6] = 7

At Regular:
[1d20-3] = 19-3 = 16 [2d6] = 9

Landing a good shot he will drop the first musket and aim with the one he grabbed off of 'Lucky' the Iberian Marine and aims at the entangled regulars, grinning as he hears the wet smack of a musketball hitting flesh.
Then he hears the order from the Captain and grabbing up all he has gathered from the marines friendly and otherwise and joins the line handing a musket to the captain and fixing a bayonet. His teeth are bared as he becomes lost in the battle, seeming all to happy to be in the middle of all this action, his muscles hopping in anticipation of whatever might happen next, he eyes gleaming like those of a wild man, but still cold, calm, and dangerous.

The melee continue...

"See to him Mr Blood," Captain Lazarus says turning his back on the melee with Geoffrey. You should be suitably encouraged that the Captain has faith in your fighting prowess, leaving you to deal with the last standing of the trio. The attacker curses you in Iberian and stabs at you with his long curved blade.

Marine melee vs Geoffrey [1d20+1] = 10+1 = 11 [1d8+1] = 4+1 = 5

your attack Geoffrey. You need hit ac7 to wound him. Check you private forum for message.

The Captain joins the line of his crew."Make me proud men, stand as one, give no quarter. Steady, steady, strike." Lazarus utters some encouraging words to strengthen the men as they are engaged by the onrushing enemy.

Lazarus melee [1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11 damage [1d8+2] = 7+2 = 9

Cravat & Mr S [1d20+1] = 12+1 = 13 [1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5 damage [1d8+1] = 1+1 = 2 [1d8+2] = 6+2 = 8

McGregor men [1d20] = 11 [1d20] = 19 [1d20] = 3

Iberian marines [1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5 [1d20+1] = 16+1 = 17 [1d20+1] = 1+1 = 2 [1d20+1] = 14+1 = 15

Iberian marines [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12 [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3 [1d20+1] = 5+1 = 6 [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3

Reckon take your action, you need to hit ac7, see private thread for message.

The action is swift and brutal but surprisingly not too bloody, cutlasses and longswords swinging in long arcs while four men attach bayonets to their muskets and stab vigorously at their aggressors. Cravat stabs, Mr Simonson gets stabbed, the Iberian attacking Rexlin fumbles, the McG marine next to him gets wounded, his comrade thrusts through his attackers stomach, the Capt beheads his foe.

"Push forward men, we will chase these curs back to their den."

Rexlin &Geoffrey give me 3 attack rolls or actions each

Meanwhile down the track...

Rexlins' sniper aim takes out the officer braided fellow who falls with musket shot slicing through his throat. He gags on the floor, convulsing as his life blood flows away. He struggles to mouth a prayer but the words die on his lips as he breathes his last. The four caught like flies in a giant spiders web struggle hopelessly to gain their freedom. One strong man snaps a few threads but in turn is thrust through by the Whiskered man. Some shout for help. "They have a warlock among them, these infidels should be accursed."

The single Iberian marine still free attacks the scholar. His invisible shield interposing itself once more and deflecting the blow. The scholar retaliates, drawing a dagger from his belt to fend off the foe and then in a flash of light the marine clutches his eyes blinded.

Iggway, casts a protective shell around her, wary of unseen evils threatening her. She wards herself. Iggway, give me three rounds of action please. There is one enemy, blinded, still standing and three webbed up for a few turns. The more they struggle, the more entangled they seem to get. The cottage from which these men came is about 100 yards away across open ground, you have some partial cover in ditches or behind bushes but may still be seen from the top cottage windows. Around you the ground is flat with the sea and reef at the end of the track by the ferry.

The Whiskered man points to the cottage, saying you could sneak around the back with him.

Actions and rolls please.

Rexlin "Devil's Scowl" Dupre

He growls in anticipation as he see one of the marines coming right at him. He braces the musket against his hip  watching the Iberian as he comes straight on. He laughs watching him trip and swings low and the dance begins as Rexlin tries to push his advantage but the marine still makes him work for his victory

To Hit [1d20] = 11 Damage [1d6] = 3x2

To Hit [1d20] = 16 Damage [1d6] = 1

To Hit [1d20] = 4 Damage [1d6] = 5

Iggway will follow Whiskers, but before trying to run for the cottage, she'll cast Reverse Light on it. Whiskers, let me try something before we head toward the cottage! This may aid the Captain as well. If Iggy is able to get to the back of the cottage, she'll try to find better coverage or she'll attack whichever enemy confronts her first.

Geoffrey tries to finish off the marine, but the foe has certainly had more experience than Geoffrey, and easily steps out of harms way.

At the cottage.

It is a simple affair, solidly built with wooden shutters over the windows and latched door. Two rooms above and below. As Iggway and the two others run to the cottage, a marine appears with a musket in the upper window, aiming to shoot he gets flash blinded by a light spell from the shaman and clutches his eyes, stumbling around. You hear him call in Iberian that he can't see. By time another grabs the musket to fire, the trio are behind the building. Ready to stave the head in of any attackers, Iggway holds her club menacingly.

At the rear, the first thing you notice are a line of bodies, the ferrymen and guards. They have been blindfolded and probably stood against a wall. They are riddled with shot and left where they lay amongst barrels of raked salt and rickety crates. The blood is fresh, they died within the last hours. Looking through the windows, the downstairs rooms are empty. It seems the Iberians remain upstairs, rooms with a view.

The mage scholar and the Whiskered rogue take positions either side of the front door expecting an assault. Iggway, next action please.
