great, well that's an OOC relief as apart from the fancy Dex roll and initiative, it looked a pretty grim scenario

Foxy O'Hare

Withdraws her scimitar and stand at the ferocious wolves whilst trying to manuevre Bluebelle towards the party, hampered as she is, away from being surrounded and overwhelmed. The hours put into jousting and battle familiarity training paying dividends with the horse not fleeing or succumbing to wounds.

you asked me to make a new attack roll so here it is.

Foxy melee: Scimitar:[1d20] = 20 damage:[1d8] = 4

The Grizzly Woman

'Hrumph. Now who put that there', says The Grizzly Woman. She yanks her leg out of the thick brush and stumbles back to grab the Grizzly Trunk and begin dragging it free. She whistles and yips to the bear, who comes running over to protect her as she tries to get the weapon free.

Huck's routine 1 (ThAC0 17): Claw [1d20] = 10 Dam [1d3] = 3, Claw [1d20] = 11 Dam [1d3] = 3
Huck's routine 2 (ThAC0 17): Bite [1d20] = 2 Dam [1d6] = 2

Rolling and tracking a 30 person battle with only my cell phone took over two hours... Please forgive the short write-up. :) I am traveling for the holiday.

The wolves did their charge, but break upon the wall of the adventurers who are quick to counterattack with their own blades. Baxtaw slices down his foe with a vicious blow while Morrs snaps his Wolf's neck and shakes the corpse. The Grizzly Woman untangles her tree trunk for further use. The three guards assault the wolf attacking Cardan - Cardan holds its teeth at bay while blows from the other two cause the wolf to slump to the ground.

Foxy faces the remaining three wolves astride her brave Bluebells. She presses forward, swinging her scimitar in a critical blow which completely bisects one of her attackers. Half-pint and Huckleberry join in the fray, harrying the two remaining wolves; this causes one of the wolves to misstep under Bluebell's hooves - injured but not out of the fight. Both wolves try to snap and snarl at Foxy's legs but to no avail.
(Two wolves left on Foxy, both injured)

Clay lifts the dwarven horn to his lips and blows. The sound bursts forth, echoing into the distance - it even seems to make the ground rumble. After a moment, he realizes that the ground is indeed shifting -- eight dwarves rise, born of earth and stone, their flinty battle axes in stony hands. With silent battle-cries from their loamy mouths, they charge the wolves before him. The warg goes down before their blows. Then a second wolf. The third wolf bites a hunk of clay out of a dwarf's leg, but sees his end is near.
One wolf injured, one bound in vines.

Foxy O'Hare

Seeing the advantage with us, Foxy pressed the attack on the remaining wolves.
Foxy melee: Scimitar:[1d20] = 17damage:[1d8] = 8

She twists Bluebelle and causes her to rise and kick out at the head of the other wolf, trampling it underfoot.

Bluebelle hooves. [1d20] = 20 [1d20] = 15 Damage [1d4] = 4 [1d4] = 1

[1d6] = 4

Clay's jaw drops as he sees the earthen warriors emerge and form a wall between him and his assailants. Watching the warg and wolf go down, he asks three of the dwarves to rush to the others' defense. Then Clay skirts around to the ensnared wolf, kneeling next to it.
Do you yield and acknowledge me as your alpha? Tell me how many other packs fight for the king. Where are your riders? Or shall I kill you too? I smell your fear.
Morr worries the dead wolf a moment, then checks on his human friend. Seeing all is well, he rushes to Asala's defense but isn't nearly as effective.

Morr [1d20] = 1, damage [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7
Initiative [1d6] = 2
And Stirling can re roll that one too!

Clay's growling grows deeper and more menacing. I offer this once. Your warg is now worm-meat. What will it be?

Baxtaw turns to assist Foxy with her 3 wolves. Slicing at the one not under attack by the foxy or her horse.

Wolf initiative [1d6] = 1

Foxy and Baxtaw finish off the last two wolves which are harrying Bluebelle. The stone-dwarves make quick work of the last wolf by Clay, but stand down from slaying the bound wolf. Mors runs over to check on his master and yelps, finding himself securely bound and the silenced by the angry vines and summer grasses (critical failure).

Clay snarls to the wolf in its own tongue. The wolf averts it's eye downward in a submissive gesture, still bound to the ground by the bramble's vines.

In wolf:
"Four wargs lead wolves in territories near here. Those with riders live with the goblin's in their hole."
(No attack rolls for Bluebelle - she isn't a full warhorse with attack training. She only rolls when cornered and for her own life.)

Clay ignore's Morr for the time being, allowing the grasses to continue their binding effects. He focuses on learning the answers to more of his questions, including:
the distance to the King's hole
if he will lead us there while avoiding the other wolf packs, showing us a safe place to sleep
if so, he may be allowed live

Clay worries about how the wolf will interpret the human form of consensus-based-decision making, but pushes it to the back of his mind for now. He also hopes the earthen dwarfs will remain with them, though he guesses they will not now that the struggle is ended.

Bluebelle, true, but I would argue that in the context of this round there are two wolves still attacking her and Foxy and there was no guarantee that Foxy and Baxtaw will kill the animals first.

The wolf indicates you are at the outer limits of his territory and the Halls of the Goblin King are more or less 20 miles straight southwest through the hills. He whines plaintively for release.

With all foes vanquished, the earth-and-stone dwarves salute Clay and then sink back into the ground with a rumbling and churning of the earth.

The wolf is still not friendly, so recruitment remains off the table.

Foxy O'Hare
to quote Gimli...'very handy in a tight spot these lads'
Acknowledges the dwarves with a salute of her scimitar. "We should slay and skin this last wolf too lest he bark our presence to his kin. Send him away Clay if you can trust a lone wolf."

Foxy will dismount and dress the wounds of Bluebelle. Who else needs attention?

If I may, Clay won't allow this wolf to roam free, but he won't want to slowly bludgeon it, either. Prior to the dwarves crumbling away, Clay would ask they end the wolf's life quickly. Then he will end the spell and check on Morr and the others.

Before fading away, the stone-dwarves step forward with their axes. The plaintive wolf whimpers pitifully, begging Clay for its life. The axes fall, reducing the wolf to bloody gobbets of fur, meat, and entrails in under a minute.

As they depart, Clay reverses his spell, allowing the plants to grow quiescent as their violent anger fades. Mors pulls free of their grasp and rejoins his master, shaking his fur.

Bluebelle has a minor injury but is hamstrung. Cardan, Clay, and Foxy all have minor to moderate injuries.

Clay Weatherwax winces at the thoroughness of the earthen dwarves. At least the initial death was swift... He says a few words on the wolf's behalf, acknowledging that it was true to its nature. Clay also makes a call out to the crows and buzzards (and Maurice), letting them know it is safe for them to feast on the fresh meat. As Morr joins him, he checks the bull mastiff over and is pleased he has no injuries. The two trot over to the group and check in.

Well that could have gone better. I'd hoped to recruit that pack, but something spooked them. He looks pointedly at Ms. O'Hare for a moment. But at least we are headed in the right direction. That last wolf said the Goblin King is about 20 miles southwest through the hills. And there are four more packs with wargs as their alphas before the goblins, and then the goblins have their own wolf packs. It was a shame to kill that last wolf, but it wouldn't join us. Without a pack... well, it wouldn't have made it far as a lone wolf, being so small. Again catching Ms. O'Hare's eyes, he answers her statement. She probably would have sold us out for a spot in a new pack.

Clay asks after everyone's injuries and thanks them for guarding the pack animals. He also marvels over the war horn with the group. Pretty amazing, right? Sorry they weren't in a good spot to help you all more. I didn't know what it did until just then. We'll plan better in the future. He wonders aloud how far the sound traveled, wondering if the goblins heard them.

That all went south faster than I'd anticipated. Maybe some body language as cues next time.

Which NPC/PC/animal is closest to 0 HP? Clay can sweat his injuries out for now.

Not knowing how that horn works, I can only hope it will work again by the time we are facing the goblin king. Clay has a spell for hold person (or whatever it is called) that might make the King more easily subdued. What does Baxtaw have available? Sleep or charm person? If it is anything like last time, we have to get through a throng of goblins prior to treating with the King...

The Grizzly Woman uses her foot to pat the ground where the dwarf golems were just moments before. The bear sniffs around the spot as well, growling nervously. 'That is some strange potency you have there, Clay.'

She briefly examines assesses each wolf, to determine whether any have coats healthy enough to skin, scrape and wash before they move on.

Despite the rough start, the group fared quite well. Both Clay and Foxy suffered solid wounds (-5hp) but are relatively unfazed by them (over 1/2 hps remaining). Cardan also took a solid blow (-3hp) which affects him more, but he's clearly the sturdiest of the three hired hands and is as ready to move on as the other two. Bluebelle is limping (-1hp, hamstring crit effect). Any of the four would potentially be fully healed by magical aid.

The Grizzly Woman inspects the wolves and finds they were all in quite good health - well fed as a pack with good fur. Except for those too mangled by sword blows (and the Warg, who's bristly guard-hairs are unsuitable) you could skin most of the beasts. You can take up to eight pelts. Two pelts per turn per person for time spent to prep and pack them.

The last time stamp said it is 12:30 am, but "daylight." Did you intend to say PM?

Clay indicates that he is fine waiting to take the pelts. I'm worried that the goblins will have heard that horn. I will try to howl in a way to make it sound as if the warg won this battle so there is no reason to track us. With that, he walks a distance off and howls as loudly s he can, proclaiming victory for wolves.

He returns to Cardan, You served the animals well. He forages for fresh herbs, and using them, binds a silver coin to the wound. Clay then prays over the man, allowing Beith's power to seal the edges shut.

And the dice roller is down... If you want to roll that, go ahead Marullus.
