Groyn screams...You're not gonna steal the life of another friend of ours!!!!
He loads the crossbow with another bolt and fires.

Fingal hangs his head and decides against using the dangerous weapon any more while others are around. Thinking that the battle is pretty much won, he decides to leave the fighting to those more qualified.

He begins looking around the area near the metal wall, searching for anything that might be hidden in the walls or floor.

"Hextor's gnarly maw!" cries Wrenly. The creature looked much smaller when he was 70' away he reflects as he scampers to try to get out of it's immediate vicinity, or at least what he hopes is just out of tongue's-reach. If he can, post-scamper, he'll launch a sling stone at it: One must launch the stones in a frontwards direction, he remembers, too late.

Jungle Dangers - Round 5

In the midst of the party, the froghemoth roars as it chews Swilbosh in its terrible maw (23 HP.) The snap and crunch of bone is piercing. What is left of the lizardman is unmoving.

The 12' Wulfhart and ranger Andover turn to face the beast. Two gargantuan tentacles lash out, wrapping and crushing Wulfhart (12 HP) and Andover (5 HP.)

Candidiasis twists her spell-storing ring and releases another barrage of magical missiles which dart through the air and pierce the gigantic monster. At the same time Groyn the dwarf fires his crossbow, the bolt thudding into the creature's left flank. Green blood slowly oozes from the wounds. The froghemoth ribbits in rage.

The 12' Wulfhart rushes in on the 18' froghemoth, the direction the tentacle is pulling him anyway. Wulfhart's mighty Fang of Cuthbert whistles down upon the beast. The magic axe sinks deep into its shoulder (22 HP with critical) and the beast croaks with pain. It staggers back, suddenly on its last legs from the assaults of steel and sorcery.

Image

Andover the ranger swings around to face the froghemoth. Its tongue is in its mouth, so the half-elf hacks at its giant leg and stabs deep. (1 attack round given new target.) A sling stone flies wild over Andover's shoulder, fired by Wrenly. Another sling shot from Porphyry glances off the monster's tough hide.

Ariel reaches into a pouch on her belt and tosses a handful of red stones at the froghemoth. They crackle and spark upon hitting the creature. Thundarr the barbarian charges and hacks with his Sun Sword, but a flailing tentacle bats his arm and the magical energy sword misses.

Asherrion alone faces the last vegenoid attacking Brother Puddington. The wounded plant menace swings a branch club at the gray elf, but it clattets against Ash's shield. The elf thrusts his long sword and it too is blocked by the vegenoid's branch club.

Image

The froghemoth groans in pain, beginning a slow half-crawl back to the jungle swamp behind it. Its limp tentacles slip off Wulfhart and Andover.

Fingal the thief slinks away to the north. He quickly is under the balcony above and 60' brings him to a metal wall like others in this place. There are two doors 40' apart. Brother Puddington and Guido, overcome with fear from the bloody and loud melee around them, run away north and come to the metal wall Fingal is at.

Actions for Round 6
- See roller for rolls.
- Frog tentacle got critical on Wulf
- Thundarr fumbled. Again.

Porphyry, of course, takes credit for the progress made, so far. "My sling has staggered the beast! Quickly now, press the attack! I will continue to vex him with my smiting stones!"
As his stone flies wide, he calls out, "A... a ploy of distraction! Strike now!"

Focusing intently so as not to flub it a second time, Wrenly murmurs to himself "Drop, swing, flip... drop, swing, flip..." and fires a stone with his sling: "Hahaaaaa! Right in the gizzard! Spell and sling - I'm a double threat, as it were!" he cries.

Candy refrains from using magic, not knowing what else lies in wait for them...she eyes Wulfhart with concern.

Edit: If she can do so without putting herself in danger, she will do what she can to stabilize the mangled Swilbosh.

Wulfhart, heavily wounded, swings his axe at the behemoth in anger as it attempts to flee.

Fingal is pleased to have the company of the bumbling duo of Brother Puddington and Guido nearby........in case any more monsters attack.

He goes to the nearest door to investigate its opening mechanism, hoping they are similar to the other doors already discovered. He has a quick look at the second door as well, trying to determine what color card might be needed for entry.

He whistles softly at the pair of no minds.
"You two stooges keep an eye and ear out in case anything else jumps at us from out of the bushes!"

Andover, Wulfhart, Groyn and Thundarr rush the wounded froghemoth as it struggles toward the lake. The four warriors slice, hack, hew and slash the giant creature apart. Green blood splatters and frog gore flies as the monster gurgles its last cries of pain. Wrenly's sling stone bounces upon its head, a symbolic period at the end of a violent sentence.

Image

The froghemoth is dead.

Candidiasis looks to help Swilbosh, but little remains of the chewed lizardman. A right hand there, a knee here, a jaw bone just beyond. His magic trident remains, lying amid ferny bushes. One of its three prongs is bent.

Image

Fingal investigates the doors and finds each to have black card readers.

Asherrion presses his attack. Long sword attack [1d20+1] = 18+1 = 19, dmg [1d8+1] = 3+1 = 4

My apologies for absence. I've been moving and without internet.

Fingal is always curious about closed doors. He wonders what wonders might be found beyond them.

Ignoring the reckless slaughter behind him, the thief uses his card to see what's behind door number one.

"Get ready fellers! He says to his 2 onlookers. "Hopefully all of the dangerous monsters are already on this side."

Andover falls to a knee by his sword, exhausted by the fight. Looking around him, he surveys the carnage. Swibosh: dead. Getafix: extremely dead. Guido, Candy, Prophyry, Brother Puddington: heavily injured. Gryev: Mindless. More so than usual, that is. No wonder the brain creature went after Getafix next. The ravenous barbarian's intellect couldn't have been more than an appetizer.

Not exactly a mighty force for fighting through whatever else lurks in this hellish metal fortress of a ship.

He considers once again admonishing his reckless companions, but decides not to waste his breath. Easier to convince rabbits not to hop, he thinks. Instead, he wearily stands, staggers his way to the froghemoth, and slices it open with Spellslasher. Perhaps a giant beast that swallows its prey whole might hold treasure in its gut. Andover doubts he will be so lucky.

"Eh... hmmmm," begins Wrenly, before abruptly tapering off, his high at destroying a gargantuan aggressor with magic and martial prowess tampered by the remains of Getafix and Swilbosh. He hopes the jungle doesn't hide any more freakish monstrosities - without any heavy hitting spells left, he's not sure he'd make it through another fight. Sighing, he walks over to where Fingal and the morons are hanging out. "What have you found, sir?" he asks.

Wulfhart, seeing nothing can be done for his fallen comrades, performs his custom after defeating a difficult foe. He strides over and urinates on the destroyed frog-monster. When he sees Fingal opening another door, he turns (barely missing Andover with his stream) and barks angrily at the thief "Damned fool! Let us recover before you go getting us into another scrap!"

The barbarian fails to consider, of course, that Fingal might find something of use to the group.

Groyn shakes his head sadly at all the carnage before him. He drops to one knee and bows his head at his fallen comrades; solemnly he stands up and heads over to the metal doors by Fingal.

Porphyry is torn between his desire to inspect the anatomy of the froghemoth (and possibly revive it—oh! how lovely that would be!) and his desire to avoid setting foot in the perilous and deceitful jungle.

He calls down from the balcony: "Well done! See how smoothly events proceed when you listen to me?"

Wrenly pauses in mid-stride on his way to join Fingal. Something seems different. Some subtle vibration in the air? He turns and looks over his shoulder at... nothing. Strange, he could have sworn he sensed a flickering presence, a momentary cosmic sadness, as if this were... well, The End?

"Fiddlesticks!" he says, shaking off the feeling. Turning again, he...
