OOC IV
Re: OOC IV
As the greedy SOB who died fighting the dragon, I want a full share for everyone, but I completely understand the argument for half-shares and won't argue against it after this
Re: OOC IV
BTW, if you're curious what that would mean in terms of what each player gets, here's what I reckon figure.
PCs who slayed the dragon and went on the treasure hunt (6): Angus, Arnulf, Chet, Dandelion, Goranth, Yenny
PCs who slayed the dragon but didn't go treasure hunting (1): Tempus
PCs who went treasure hunting but weren't involved in slaying the dragon (5): Ernest, Galan, Hyde, Sagthistle, Watt
That's 12 shares if everyone gets an equal share or 9 shares if we use the other plan. Rounding to the nearest GP:
Equal shares: 288 gp
Half and full: 384 gp for Angus, Arnulf, Chet, Dandelion, Goranth, Yenny; 192 gp for everyone else.
We could also do something in between the two plans. Or course, all this might me moot depending on the values of the gems. It's hard to divide a gem into equal parts (except by selling it, of course).

Re: OOC IV
As a player, I say we do the half shares. As a character I would say full shares but be content with whatever I got.
Re: OOC IV
I guess I'd vote to keep it easy and split shares amongst all finders. This helps low level PCs get up to speed faster. Might be hard to agree to in character, although I think we are not a terribly greedy group in character at the moment.
Re: OOC IV
I'm fine with either, FWIW, but one point in favor of the uneven split is that the PCs who were involved in killing the dragon are higher level than the new PCs and therefore will need more money for training.
Re: OOC IV
Ernest is milling about trying to stay awkwardly out of the discussion. Keep your gems, I'll earn it by sword.
All he's done so far is walk to a lake.

Re: OOC IV
When Angus joined this campaign, he got a mess of coins for basically watching someone open a coffer. If you're with us, you get a share of the treasure. The only question is how much.
Re: OOC IV
Ernest could have easily gotten killed walking to the lake.
Re: OOC IV
I'd say full shares.
It seems easier and less competitive/argumentative if ever that happens.

Re: OOC IV
I'm ok either way. I like the reasoning that full shares gets new PCs moving quicker...though as a sandbox we aren't obliged to stay as one group all the time... discrepancies between levels isn't the same issue as if we were on a single campaign. Lower level folks could band together, especially if higher level PCs started to get into stuff that's too hairy.

Re: OOC IV
Okay. Sounds like most people are okay with either option, with some preference for equal shares for anyone who participated in slaying the dragon or retrieving its treasure. Let's mentally set aside 288 gp for Tempus. The rest of the treasure from this trip, if any, should be split among those present.

Another in an apparent series: pictures of bearded guys with their sons on shoulders.

Ha... I have the gray hair and the full beard.
But my boys are 12 and 14 and would break my back if I lifted them.

Re: OOC IV
Hyde didn't kill any Dragons, nor was he killed by a Dragon, so I don't figure he has any say in the split.
Re: OOC IV
He's along for the treasure retrieval and could have gotten hurt doing so, so he gets a share.

Re: OOC IV
Not to spoil the trend, but my picture with beard and boy on shoulders is only available in print. The boy is now 18 which is something of a miracle, but the beard has been around continuously since Halloween of '91. It'd be an antique if it were a car.
