Special Event: The Greenleaf Festival - 01 June 2021

Bandy Sandybanks
01 June 2021
Bandy steps forward and bows graciously at Zirina. Then he bows in the direction of Achaedany and replies, "Of course! It matters not to me!"
He gracefully picks up the wooden longsword he used in the first contest and steps into the circle. Sword held in his hands, tip pointed at Achaedany and just barely off the ground, he says, "I don't have to tell you not to go easy on me, Dany..."
With a sudden upward motion, Bandy brings the tip of his longsword towards Achaedany's sword hand.
Longsword [1d20+1] = 10+1 = 11 Damage [1d8+1] = 5+1 = 6
Round One Init [1d6] = 4

Re: Special Event: The Greenleaf Festival - 01 June 2021
Bandy's target to hit Dany is 11, Dany's target to hit Bandy is 11.
Achaedany holds her longsword casual, her face impassive. Her long blond cornrow braids hang down the back of her studded leather jerkin. She offers no graces to Bandy, her tone brusk. "I don't go easy. And you're too short."
Bandy flicks his sword up and cracks his wooden blade againt her fingers. She curses vulgarly, eliciting gasps from some of the mothers and children in the crowd.
She spins her blade around in return, catching the crossguard of Bandy's sword and ripping it from his fingers with one powerful blow. His blade spins off to the far side of the ring, disarmed. (Crit hit, disarm, 1hp damage)
"My fingers are important to me, Peck," she spits. She spins her blade around again to hit him while he's unarmed.
(I'll let you narrate how you take advantage of her misstep and decide the critical fumble effect as part of your move.)
Rolls:
Achaedany [1d20] = 20 [1d8] = 2 init [1d6+1] = 2+1 = 3
Achaedany [1d20] = 1 [1d8] = 2 init [1d6+1] = 3+1 = 4

Bandy watches Achaedany's follow-through swing as it misses wildly over his head. Apparently the first hit against her fingers finally took effect as he then watched her wooden sword sail through the air, landing past his.
He smiles. When he retrieves his sword, he picks up hers, as well, and hands it to her.
"Attacking an unarmed hobbet? Tsk tsk.
He smiles at her disarmingly. When she is ready once again, he begins a series of feints and overhead swings that she easily blocks.
Longsword [1d20+1] = 5+1 = 6 Damage [1d8+1] = 2+1 = 3

Re: Special Event: The Greenleaf Festival - 01 June 2021
Achaedany seems flustered by the gallantry, her mouth opening and closing dumbly a few times before snatching her sword back. She then narrows her eyes, looking for the sneak attack.
The crowd, however, eats it up. Bandy's quick wit and disarming disarm have them cheering him as the new clear favorite. Achaedany comes at him forcefully again, meeting his easily-parried blows with blunt swings that connect with only air.
[3d6] = 8 CHA

Re: Special Event: The Greenleaf Festival - 01 June 2021
Propelled by the cheers of the crowd, Bandy seems to find lightness and speed in the large wooden longsword! He repeatedly demonstrates having good reach, even with his substantially shorter height!
Achaedany blocks a swing to the head, only to find it is a feint masking a stroke to the outside of her thigh. Ouch! That's going to leave a bruise for sure.
Round 4(?) Init [1d6] = 3 (+1=4; sorry, keep forgetting DEX bonus)
Longsword [1d20+1] = 13+1 = 14 Damage [1d8+1] = 3+1 = 4

Re: Special Event: The Greenleaf Festival - 01 June 2021
Achaedany seems ambivalent to the crowd, focused on her small opponent. She continues to press her attacks as hard and fast as possible, coming around with a mean swing which just grazes Bandy, the nimble hobbit dodging back just in time. (-1hp)
As Bandy feints and then strikes her leg, she glowers. "Ankle biter," she retorts.
Round 4:
Achaedany [1d20] = 11 [1d8] = 1 init [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6

Bandy gets off to a sluggish start on the next round...
"Not too short... or so... it seems," he japes breathlessly.
"It's unfortunate..."

"The size of a troll!"
... but finally manages to land a solid blow on Achaedany's shoulder.

Achaedany is quick with a backhand slice, impacting Bandy in the side, contributing to his winded response.
"Trolls... aren't as quick as you," she quips lamely as she presses into her next attacks, missing with each swing.

Re: Special Event: The Greenleaf Festival - 01 June 2021
Bandy dances around Achaedany's sword for bit. Having finally figured out her attack patterns, he's just waiting for an opening.
Yes, and here it comes. Upper stroke across the body followed by a sweep around to the side and an upper stroke from the other direction. That leaves a hole in her guard just there!
Bandy quickly pulls his stroke short, allowing him to wind up and come straight down onto Achaedany's head, the momentum of her sword not allowing her to block it.
Round six init [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2
Longsword [1d20+1] = 19+1 = 20 Damage [1d8+1] = 8+1 = 9

Re: Special Event: The Greenleaf Festival - 01 June 2021
Bandy's hit resounds with a CRACK, and Achaedany falls to her hands and knees, bringing her face to face with the Halfling warrior. A trickle of blood and a welt already invade her tight-braided cornrows.
"Bandobras Sandybanks wins!" declares Sir Albrecht. The crowd roars, the Frogmorton children leaping up and down with excitement and pointing to their champion cousin. Achaedany rises, brushing the dust of the ring off her leathers, giving Bandy a curt nod of acknowledgement.
Respect: Bandy has a -2 bonus to future rolls with Achaedany.
Some time passes before the crowd is quiescent enough to allow Wilhelm's announcement to be heard. "Our next to final round! Blackjack Amistad now challenges Mormont, the Winterveil Champion!" Mormont takes the ring, stepping forward solemnly, his worn heraldic tabard hanging over his splintmail. He takes up a longsword and shield, offering a formal salute to Lord Albrecht. "Honor to our Liege," he says, then turns to face Amistad, nodding acknowledgement to him as well.

Bandy Sandybanks
Bandy flashes a smile across the crowd and winks at the Frogmorton youths.
Bandy then helps Achaedany up to her feet and shakes her hand to show his good will. When she is recovered from the ordeal, he discusses sword play with her and shows her how he found the opening in her guard.
After all, if he is going to hire her again, then he wants her to stay alive!
Then he sits down and relaxes and recovers, drinking plenty of water while he watches the dark skinned lumberjack take on Mormont.

Goes through a little routine, summoning the spirit of his father's to come watch over him, taking the dust if the ground and casting it in the air
Acknowledging his opponent with respect, Amistad decides power and first strike are necessary vs this skilled adversary.
Seems like troll all over again...

Mormont's target number is 9. Amistad's target number is 8.
After formalities, Mormont steps quickly to the attack, shield up and a powerful swing. He slams the wooden longsword into Amistad's side, a blow to wind him which likely would have felled a lesser man.
Blackjack swings hard but fumbles his grip, his two-handed sword skittering across the dirt. Mormont takes a swipe and misses, Amistad diving into a roll and coming up with his sword again for the next exchange.
Mormont [1d20] = 9 [1d8+2] = 7+2 = 9 Init [1d6] = 3

Reels from the solid blow, he knew he had opened himself up for such a riposte but had to chance his arm. He attacks again cleaving strikes with the two handed blade, an angled slash to the right,
Greenleaf Melee [1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5 [1d10+1] = 3+1 = 4
The thing with chopping trees is that they generally stand still,
then a driven back to the left,
Greenleaf Melee [1d20+1] = 1+1 = 2 [1d10+1] = 4+1 = 5,
Swordsmanship it seems not his forte.

Re: Special Event: The Greenleaf Festival - 01 June 2021
Mormont shows the skills of knight's lifetime squire training. His shield appears wherever Amistad swings and he lands another body-shaking blow with his sword. He takes advantage of the poor technique in Amistad's swing and twists his blade, disarming him a second time. Amistad's unconventional movement to roll and retrieve his weapon throws him, however, and he misses his further blows. "You fight with passion, woodsman, but swordplay is a Noble art," says the dour swordsman.

Mormont takes Amistad's blow with a stoically, staggering back a step under the force of it. He misses his next swing as Amistad shares his father's wisdom.
"Perseverance is indeed a virtue, the fifth of Baudh, in fact. But the first is Might," responds Mormont, landing a third powerful blow that drives Amistad to his knees.

For the third time in the afternoon, Bandy picks up the now-familiar wooden longsword and enters the ring to face off with a larger opponent.
"I hear you aren't terribly fond of dwarfs, Mormont. Just keep in mind that I'm a halfling when you swing that knockin' big stick!"
