Guys, feel free to start posting in the Blazing Star. We can make the intro as long or as short as you like. Hopefully I will have a map of the campaign area posted today. Don't feel obligated to follow any particular "plot line" as I have several keyed adventure sites ready and I don't want to lead anyone by the nose.

Before we begin asking most specific questions, knowing the most obvious one would help: Is this trap door open, or closed?

Closed. The door itself is wood with a large metal ring set into it. The door seems rather large for its type.
