This is an awesome thread, BTW, and I think required reading for anyone interested in old school play.dmw71 wrote:I actually have not. Just be careful, Dave, I burned an entire night just reading that thing (there's a part 2). As thirdkingdom said, it captures the joy of old school play.

If anyone is interested here's a (fairly long-lived) pbp game I played in directly influenced by Mailer's thread: https://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?68 ... st16630659AleBelly wrote:Just be careful, Dave, I burned an entire night just reading that thing (there's a part 2). Sounds like a lot of fun. Do you have room for more?

In if you'll have me. I think my first character's name will be Theodore Phineas Kunkel

Adding to game now.
Re: Old School Mega-Dungeon (LL)
Officially up to 16 players, which is awesome! Definitely enough to form two healthy adventuring groups. And, with my latest discovery, there's a chance this game could get rocking-and-rolling pretty quickly.

I'm an admittedly slow reader, but damn! I have been reading the Bling thread since Wednesday and am only on page 40 (of 90). (And to think there's a second part!)AleBelly wrote:I'm sure you have seen this before, and it's been posted at US before, but this is a conceivable way to get started.
Fellowship of the Bling
Could easily accommodate multiple parties, and the dungeons don't have to make sense! But it does do away with the megadungeon concept...
Really good read, though.

Re: Old School Mega-Dungeon (LL)
I loved rooting for the characters in that game (and B/X games in general). I personally like the high mortality at low levels of the game - if you make it to 2 or 3, that's really something. Plus, it really makes the world seem dangerous and truly an adventure.
RL is crazy for me, and I'm trying to limit the number of games I'm in, but I couldn't pass this one up!

This sounds like a lot of fun. I want in!
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.
