Idriss

Returns to the Infirmary for the evening vespers and community evensong. Folk give thanks and testimony for safe deliverance and divine provisions in time of need. Idriss takes a turn to stand in the pulpit. He talks again of his physical journey from the south and leaving behind his circus life towards picking up the Templar mantle and his spiritual journey ahead. The proverb of travelling 'A path less trodden' comes to mind.

The discovery of the infernal infiltration of the goblin hole cellars and the Netherworld portal brings a duty to close such rips in the fabric of the material plane. For where the earth bleeds, pestilence and poverty walk to trouble us. He repeats his request for stout hearts and courageous folk to join such an expedition and offers interested folk an opportunity to discuss with him after service.

"the Truth is known".

"I've longed for such a test of my faith," replies a massive man in the front row, dressed in the simple long undyed tunic of a sworn Templar. "Since my wife and daughters were slain, I confess to the anger in my heart. Our farm was on the east side of the city, when we first came north, and the deniz... denazz... the little beasts of this hole took all I loved. If my life can aid in sealing it, then Eruanna's grace with be worthily granted."

The man introduces himself to you as Brother Dolph Gundanar. He's willing to fight by your side as a Templar in this infernal pit in exchange for a normal remuneration. (Half-share of XP, full-share of treasure [knowing he must donate what he can't carry])

Idriss shakes his hand, hoping the agreement can be sealed over an ale and not some barbarian palm slitting blood covenant. (still unused to Templar ways).

With Brother Dolph in tow, he arranges with the others to leave on the next appropriate morning.

13 July, evening:
After several days assisting with the infirm, casting healing spells and offering blessings as needed, Ablesforth locates Brother Mylo. He informs his fellow cleric that he will be leaving in the morning, leading an expedition in the hopes of locating and destroying the portal to the gates of hell. If y'have any more insight to this caper, now'd be the time, Brother. He clasps Brother Myo's hands and thanks him for his assistance, before heading to bed.

In the morning, with his pack shouldered, Able offers his confession to whomever is in the Infirmary and awake. I'll be headin' inta the darkness, seekin' out the wicked and infernal. I fear I'll not be able to keep them's what's comin' with me safe. The Truth is Known.

Brother Mylo shares the same information he told Idriss.

"You have learned much about the Infernal, Brother," compliments Mylo, "It is rare even among the order for someone to master the infernal's own language. We knew nothing of this infestation before it was discovered by Idriss and Foxy. It is strange that we could not sense it. I hope your insight can provide us more truth on this situation."

Earc of Toll's Tower

Earc enters the infirmary, brushes a perpetual layer of dust off his robes and inquires about copying some spells into his spellbook.

He wishes to copy the Levitate and Locate Object spells. For payment, he sets a Large Cracked Pale Green Tourmaline (100gp) and a bag of gold coins (300gp) on the desk.

An acolyte approaches the wizard, examining him carefully will a strange colored flickering candle, glancing between Earc and it's flame. Then he nods.

"Speak Truth for why you seek this knowledge,
and I will show you to the books."

Earc shrugs, "I seek the spells to expand my knowledge to aid the settlement of Gaul and for my own purposes in building my tower."

Halfpint leaves the wooden keep and escorts the formerly cognoscente Miss Foxy to the Infirmary of Eruanna.

She asks what might be done to her, knowing she is a faithful follower.

Faithful with a big, mystical brand on her head! She and Brother Mylo don't see eye to eye, so much...

Brother Mylo looks sadly at the vacant expression of Foxy as she is brought in, particularly at the glowing "L" brand marked upon her forehead. He asks about the expedition, collecting information about the dangers Foxy faced and how she came to be in this feeble minded state after facing the dragon. He thanks Halfpint for caring for the poor beleaguered woman and he takes her into custody. Foxy is led into a room in the back of the infirmary, the door closing as she disappears within, led by the Templars.

Faced with a choice of paying 60% of their profits to get her curse removed, or dropping Foxy off to wake and handle her conflictual relations with Brother Mylo alone, the group decides their priorities. ;)

To be fair... Halfpint wasnt there the witness the previous activities and would have only heard rumors. Surely, townspeople must not jump to conclusions and prejudice themselves against anybody with a brand on their forehead resulting from a conflict with an Eurannan cleric.

Learning of Ms. O'Hare's fate from Halfpint, Clay is dumbfounded. The natural outcome of this should be to send the enfeebled person into the wilderness to feed the wolves, but he keeps this to himself, assuming the others might find it a harsh statement. And though they have had their differences, Clay has become attached to Ms. O'Hare and her outbursts. Normally the Infirmary would be the right place, but... Well, don't you know? I thought the entire village knew... He explains the last time the two interacted, Ms. O'Hare left shouting obscenities at Brother Mylo, then left with a mystical mark on her head, and later carved up her face to spite the cleric. The Badger-cleric asks Halfpint to escort him to the Infirmary and fetch Brother Mylo.

Though the two had met on previous occasions, but Clay is not sure if Mylo would remember him. Or recognize him. Clay tries to act natural and casual, standing on his hind feet and leaning against a wall. Brother Mylo, how is Ms. O'Hare? Have you attempted to, or been able to undo Scatha's spell? At that point, Clay tells Mylo about Ms. O'Hare's bravery in the face of dwarfs, ogres, goblins and the dragon. For a reason he cannot find, he is desperate to have this other cleric think better of Ms. O'Hare. But though he knows Eruanna is the goddess of truth, Clay's tale lacks any evidence of Ms. O'Hare showing any humility or professing any truths. He wonder's why the red-headed woman bothers with this faith, knowing the two are not suited well. Would any of the gods suit her? he wonders. Gwanwyn, perhaps...

Clay arrives four days later - I need to resolve Foxy's private scene before I can have Mylo respond. Hang tight. :)
