Cole, who acts last this round, is blocking the way. Castien was prevented from attacking last round for that very reason (and he would have hit, too!).

Prologue 1.2 (Adventuring)
579 CY, Goodmonth 10 (11:24pm)
40h/28l, 5mph

It's clogged up at the moment.

Ausus' overhead slash misses and he makes a grave mistake by sacrificing the defense of a counterstrike for power. The spider unknowingly takes advantage of the warrior's exposed neck area. Shooting forward with a deadly bite, the creature connects and slashes a gash into the side of Ausus' neck. The warrior gasps and gives out a bellow and then hits the ground hard.

"Priest!...Comrade down...get here now"
... Cole commands in a loud booming voice.

Ausus takes 4 HP's of damage and is down bleeding. He needs to make a saving throw vs. poison +1.

Gandrel readies an arrow into his bow and defers until after Cole's action.

Quoros is on the clock.

HP: Castian - 2/2 ; Ausus - -1/3 ; Quoros - 3/4 ; Karalquint - 0/3 ; Gandrel - 4/4

Quoros charges forward at the sound of Cole's call.

"Bloody hell... how can one spider cause us so much trouble?"

As he gets to the entrance, he says, "Make way!" and readies to attack with his bronzewood club.

I will take that as a deferred action for Quoros.

Heeding the dwarf's call, Cole steps into the tower and to the left, hiking one foot onto what's left of the structure's rickety steps to brace himself. He raises his sword above his head and slashes it down across the spider's back. The spider staggers but breathes on.

Quoro's and/or Castien you are up.

"Quoros, leave some room" Castien declares, allowing his dwarven companion to act first. Once Quoros has entered the tower, Castien will set forward, but only close enough. He pokes at the spider with his quarterstaff.

To hit with quarterstaff [1d20] = 20
Damage with quarterstaff [1d6] = 2

ooc: Heck, yeah! That'd be two hits in a row. Maybe Castien isn't completely useless in melee afterall? :D

Quoros will enter the room and move to the right of the doorway, if possible.

If he can do that and leave room for Castien, and still attack, then he will. Otherwise, he'll enter and move to allow the other elf to enter and try to attack the following round.

In case he can attack this round...

To Hit, Melee or Missile [1d20] = 11

and... that'll do nothing.

Prologue 1.2 (Adventuring)
579 CY, Goodmonth 10 (11:25pm)

There is space to move into the tower and to the right if that's what the dwarf wants to do. That will put him in the space between Ausus and the vacant entryway if he steps in. In other words working clockwise along the tower wall from Ausus on the battle map would be like this:

Ausus, Quoro's, Entryway (Vacant), Cole

Castien is right outside the door with his deferred action and he steps in to take his attack as Quoros misses.

Now the room looks like this in clockwise order:

Ausus, Quoro's, Entryway - Castien, Cole

Castien please note I am halving your damage as you are swinging a quarterstaff one handed because of the torch. Your staff pokes the spider but he doesn't seem to notice.

You are all unaware of Gandrel's action as you are concentrated on the spider.

New initiative for everyone please.

Ausus loses a HP from bleeding.

DISREGARD INITIATIVE FOR NOW!!!

I forgot that Castien had a critical hit. Roll a 2d10 for our critical hit chart. The first roll is the tens place and the second is the ones.

I will modify and edit my previous post once we have a result!

I forgot all about that.

Natural 1 or 20 [2d10] = 10
Natural 1 or 20: Tens [1d10] = 5 Ones [1d10] = 6 <-- corrected roll, just in case.

ooc: Who's noticing now, spider? ;)

Nothing changes from the above post. You rolled double damage. The spider still doesn't notice and is still up.

Everyone initiative now and we will continue from that above post.

Just waiting on Castien. Thus far it is:

Cole, Quoros, Gandrel/Spider

Dave, in the future for your critical hits you are rolling two and using them as ones and tens right? It's a chart from 0-100.

HP: Castian - 2/2 ; Ausus - -2/3 ; Quoros - 3/4 ; Karalquint - 0/3 ; Gandrel - 4/4

Initiative | No Spell: [1d10] = 4

Castien tosses the torch he's carrying into the middle of the room to provide illumination. He thought to try and toss the torch actually onto the spider, possibly burning it in the process, but he wanted to make sure the torch stays lit and elects to toss it more carefully. He is also concerned about Ausus, but does not look forward to navaigating through an ongoing combat hoping to be able to pull his companion to safety. Better to eliminate the threat first, he thinks.

With both hands free, Castien hopes to land another, more solid successful strike against the spider.

To hit with quarterstaff [1d20] = 15
Damage with quarterstaff [1d6] = 4

ooc: I have my macro set up to roll two d10 [2d10] which will read as a percentage (e.g. 10). That's what you require, right?

Yeah, actually, rolling a [2d10] isn't giving you the right result. The result of 10 is the sum of the two rolls. You want to roll them separately, one of them being the "tens" position and one of them being the "ones" position. So it would look more like [1d10] [1d10]

Or, more easily, just roll a percentage dice [1d100] and take that roll at face value.

But 2d10 is not correct for what Omega wants.

Castien wins the initiative round.

Swinging his quarterstaff with both hands now, the mage stuns himself as his weapon comes down squarely on the spider backside. Hearing a loud crack, the party observes the spider slump to the ground to live no more.

This is the end of combat. Proceed to posting back in adventuring time as much as you want.

Ausus is still bleeding and not stabilized.

ooc: Nice!

Did the spider fall on the torch, or can it be recovered? (By the way, I will assume, since Castien has already acted, that someone else will tend to Ausus. I just want it clear that my asking about the torch doesn't convey that Castien finds its status more important than that of his fallen comrade).

Quoros immediately rushes to Ausus' side and tends his wounds.

(Correct me if I'm wrong here, Omega, but I can't bind wounds to recover lost HP when he's in negative levels, correct? It has to be magical healing of some sort?)

Cure Light Wounds [1d8] = 2

Wow, that was suck.

Yes, you can use your NWP of healing to do so if in the negatives (house rules also state this). That's the only exception. Any PC can bind a wound to stop "bleeding" and stabilize another PC. That just takes one round.

Due to your CLW spell Ausus is still unconscious and at 0 HP.
