This is fascinating... I really wonder why there would be undead in this place... Most curious...

Initiative: [1d20+2] = 16+2 = 18

Well, plenty of time to figure that out once these infernal skeletons are deanimated...

Ioriston points at the nearest skeleton and very confidently fires a Ray of Frost.

Ray of Frost Damage: [1d8+2] = 6+2 = 8

The Crypts, Rd. 1
Initiative Order > Skeletons (21), Ioriston (18), Kelton (17), Stitches (16), Gerland (7), Aslaan (5), Kael (3)
Skeletons initiative: [1d20+2] = 19+2 = 21
Kael's initiative: [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3

Seeing intruders in the crypt, the skeletons act swiftly, charging ahead with rusty swords upraised. One is virtually on top of Gerland and with a clattering of bones, hacks at the priest of Lathander, but his armor deflects its blade!
Skeleton attack vs. Gerland: [1d20+4] = 12+4 = 16, [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5

Another skeleton attacks Kelton, but the noble warrior easily deflects its attack...and counters with his own. His axe crushes some old bones, damaging his foe, but otherwise does not stop it.

The third skeleton attacks Aslaan and the young man cries out in surprise and pain as the undead's rusty blade rakes along his ribcage.
Skeleton attack vs. Aslaan: [1d20+4] = 18+4 = 22, [1d6+2] = 4+2 = 6
Aslaan flails at the skeleton with his, er, flail, but somehow the creature's rusted, piece-meal armor protects it from harm.

Ioriston, musing why there are undead in a crypt, points his finger at the one abusing Gerland and fires a frosty ray, striking the undead, shattering several of its bones with arcane cold.

Stitches is terrified and prefers not to engage the skeletons, so he darts around the melee and goes to the door on the eastern wall and pushes it open. His body jerks and he spins around with an arrow sticking out his chest! Stitches jerks again and blood spurts from his mouth and he falls forward with a second arrow protruding from his back! The door remains open...

Kael bursts into the room, pushing past Ioriston, and comes to Gerland, while the priest is calling upon Lathander to deal with the skeletons. Not waiting to see if it works, Kael delivers a crushing blow with his axe, and the skeleton attacking Gerland flies apart in a tumble of bones and pieces of rusty armor.

Actions for Round 2!

Stats:
Aslaan is down 6 hp
Ioriston is down 8 hp
Kael is down 7 hp
Stitches > going down for the last time
Skeleton 1 > dead
Skeleton 2 > down 6 hp

Ioriston points at the skeleton combatting Aslaan and fires another Ray of Frost.

Ray of Frost: [1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3

I don't think I'm even going to roll damage for that train wreck of a roll.

In a moment of desperation, Ioriston drinks the second potion.

No time like the present to learn what this second potion does!

In his peripheral vision, Aslaan is horrified to see Stitches collapse to the ground. With even greater determination he growls and swings his flail again at the skeleton who attacked him.

To hit: [1d20+4] = 16+4 = 20, damage with flail [1d8+2] = 4+2 = 6

The Crypts, Rd. 2 > Crypt Crossfire!
Initiative Order > Skeletons (21), Ioriston (18), Kelton (17), Stitches (16), Gerland (7), Aslaan (5), Kael (3)

The Skeletons recover from the assault of the companions and deliver some hurting of their own. Kelton tries to maneuver into a defensive position, but Kael and Gerland are in the way and the skeleton slashes him across the shoulder and chest!
Skeleton attacks Kelton: [1d20+4] = 18+4 = 22, [1d6+2] = 5+2 = 7

Kelton roars in pain and anger, even as a frosty ray flies harmlessly overhead, and chops the skeleton in the chest, scattering bones all along the floor.

Backed up against the wall, and perhaps distracted by Stitches' demise, Aslaan is on his heels as his skeletal foe hacks and slashes at the young warrior, finally breaking through his armor, gashing him again with its rusty sword.
Skeleton attacks Aslaan: [1d20+4] = 19+4 = 23, [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5

With only one skeleton remaining, Gerland draws his mace and tries to help out Aslaan, but misses the creature.
Aslaan, horrified about Stitches, and angry from this creature, lashes out and manages to finally damage the skeleton with his flail.

Just before the Brick decides what to do, two figures appear in the open doorway, and fire arrows at he and Kelton. Both warriors take hard hits, one to the ribs, the other to the chest!
Asl 1 Kel 2 Kae 3 Ger 4: [1d4] = 2, [1d4] = 3
Redbrand attack: [1d20+4] = 10+4 = 14, [1d6+2] = 5+2 = 7, [1d20+4] = 13+4 = 17, [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5

While the warriors are reeling from the hidden attacks, two more arrows come flying into the crypt...this time from the lower double doors where two more Redbrands have appeared and are attacking! This time, their targets are Ioriston and Gerland, but by the grace of the (dice) gods, the Redbrands miss!
Ior 1 Kel 2 Kae 3 Ger 4: [1d4] = 1, [1d4] = 4
Redbrand attack: [1d20+4] = 3+4 = 7, [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5, [1d20+4] = 5+4 = 9, [1d6+2] = 5+2 = 7

I'm not down any HP at the moment.

Ioriston points, firing from the cover of the doorway, and delivers a Ray of Frost to the remaining skeleton!

Ray of Frost: [1d20+2] = 6+2 = 8

Ray of Frost Damage: [1d8+2] = 3+2 = 5

Aslaan wants to rush over to help Gerland with the two closest Redbrands but must finish the skeleton that is currently kicking his ass.

What we need is something new!

Suddenly ducking, he swings mightily at the skeleton's legs trying to shatter them or at least sweep them out from under the unnatural thing.

To hit: [1d20+4] = 2+4 = 6, damage with flail [1d8+2] = 2+2 = 4

Kelton grits his teeth and attacks again, knowing full well that, against these odds, this could be the end of their little group.

Kael is staggered a moment before he blocks out the pain and feels a Second Wind revive him.
[1d10] = 8 + 2 = 10 hp recovered

Revived he then charges the nearest archer to attack.
[1d20] = 13 + 3 = 16
damage
[1d10+3] = 9+3 = 12

What we need is something new! Aslaan says, wishing he could help Stitches. But his skeletal foe is still trying to kill him and he can only duck and dodge and flail about...neither of them hurting the other.
Even Ioriston, firing a frosty ray from the safety of the doorway, cannot seem to damage the skeletal warrior.

Engage the archers in hand to hand combat! We can't keep taking all these arrows! Kelton shouts as he dashes toward the southern double doors. He barely slows as he cleaves one of the Redbrands with his great axe, staggering the man. (10 dmg)

Stitches expires, his lungs full of blood, even as Gerland hurries over to help him. The priest leaps over the dead rogue and smashes the arm of one of the Redbrand archers, knocking the bow out of his hands. (2 dmg)

Kael takes a few seconds to gather himself (Second Wind healing 10 pts!) and then rushes to help Gerland, slamming the other Redbrand archer, cleaving the man's left shoulder, rendering his arm useless! (12 dmg) The ruffian screams in agony and falls back into the room, trying to staunch the bleeding and scramble away from the Brick at the same time.

The Redbrands, calling to one another for encouragement, draw steel and press their attacks.
Once again, Gerland's armor deflects two blows that would have seriously wounded him, while Kael's foe can only draw a dagger and attempt to hold the big man off.

Kelton isn't so fortunate. While the man he attacked is too weak to even get near him, the other Redbrand rakes him across the shoulder with a short sword and then drives a dagger through his chainmail and into his gut.
Redbrand attack vs. Kelton: [1d20+4] = 12+4 = 16, [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5, [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19, [1d4+2] = 1+2 = 3

Kelton staggers back and sits down hard on the crypt floor. That punch in the gut took a lot out of me, his mind seems to say, although he can't really concentrate on anything but the pounding in his ears and the burning pain in his limbs... (Death Save please!)

Kael is down 2 hp
Kelton is down 22 hp...and dying
Stitches > dead
Skeleton 1 > dead
