Sasha

Well, I'm not sitting around building a stupid house. We need to keep searching, like Penny said!

We aren't going to find a way off this island hanging around this beached ship.

If we want to live, we need to explore!

The party finds itself split on how to proceed, with some wanting to explore the island and others looking to salvages pieces from the Mistress and build a shelter on the beach.

"The most recent death was from someone being so hardheaded that he wandered off on his own instead of staying with the group," says Pendleton sharply at the dwarf. "Now, we've only just met, and normally I'd say that it's your life to throw away if you choose. But we've lost too many people and can't afford to lose more. So whatever we do, we do it together. Agreed?" The suddenly stern academic looks around the group for signs of assent.

"That settled, then," he says. "On to the business of the day: what will we do next? I for one am not quite ready to declare permanent residency on this island. The ship is adequate shelter for the moment, so I see no need to build structures just yet. Besides, there's an old parable about building houses on sand that seems particularly relevant."

He takes a look up and down the beach. "The ruins are too dangerous for us to return there just yet. But sitting on the beach twiddling our thumbs won't do us any good either. I suggest that we explore the perimeter of the island as far as we can today. Let us find out what other dangers this place presents. Besides, we don't even know for sure that it's unsettled. What fools would we feel like if we discovered weeks hence that there was actually a town on the far side of the island all the time?"

just going by the last post from Alebelly and made it sound like Bingus was at a lightly different location waiting for us to come though the trees.

Emhpasis added. We're all together, at least for the moment.

Sasha looks down her nose at the newcomer.

I will lead the way Penny, just point me in the direction you want to search.

Bingus shrugs and will follow the group. He won't push his luck, having gotten his way with avoiding a spider encounter. He will remain largely silent - and sweaty. Pendleton's warning of the trap door spiders occupy most of the thin mage's thoughts, and cause him to puff constantly at his pipe.

Dorin follows second in line grumbling but not loud enough for anyone else to clearly hear his words battle axe in his hands in case a fight comes forth.

I'll put you guys back at, or near, the ship at the present time, which is located at the 'x' on this map. You previously had been exploring north, towards the waterfall, which is where you found the trail leading into the forest and the lost city.

Where do you go?

Let's go the other direction this time, counterclockwise around the island on the beach.

The group begins heading in the opposite direction this time, keeping an equal distance between the shoreline and the forest.

The mid-morning, rising sun begins to beat down on the group, who's beginning to work up a good sweat, and after several hundred yards, the shade provided by the trees in the forested area begin to look good, especially to those still wearing metal armor or carrying heavy loads. However, before anyone is able to complain, the sound of singing echoes among the rocks along this sandy beach, and a single set of human-sized footprints lead from the shore to the bay, where crystal blue waters provide a clear view of a deep pool and grotto below.

Does this singing sound like it's in Common, sung by a human (or elf or dwarf or summat) voice?

Yes, sorry. It's a peaceful, melodic, female voice.

Female singing voice on a deserted tropical island?

Seems innocuous enough.
Sasha says, sarcastically.

If you want me to sneak up there to investigate, how about tying a rope around me in case you need to yank me back?

Pendleton looks for a vantage point where he could see the source of the singing...without him looking like a creepy stalker watching a woman bathe.

"Sasha, maybe you should take point on this," he says.
