Sorry, I was saying it sarcastically, as in, "My shot grazed the wolf my arse! That was a dead on shot in the chest!" It was a response to this...dmw71 wrote:You knock the wolf aside with your bow.
The wolf missed you.

I followed you.Alethan wrote:Sorry, I was saying it sarcastically, as in, "My shot grazed the wolf my arse!
I'm just merely copying-and-pasting from the module, so "grazed" was the authors'adjective of choice, not mine.
That said, I just realized that I mistakenly used the wrong result to apply towards the damage you did, but that has been corrected.
Re: Pathfinder Chat
By the way, #20 has been updated for you. The update was an 'edit' of an existing post and not a new post, so I wasn't sure you'd be notified (or that the post would display as being unread).

Updated. Sorry, used wrong modifier. Will get that right in the future.dmw71 wrote:By the way, #20 has been updated for you. The update was an 'edit' of an existing post and not a new post, so I wasn't sure you'd be notified (or that the post would display as being unread).

Do I have a character sheet to update? I don't want to start forgetting these things...dmw71 wrote:This is ridiculous (and loads of fun to update on my phone).
I will need to finish this post later, but at least you'll have something to do.
EDIT: I guess we're just noting them on the first post of the thread. No problem.

Re: 42
You're welcome to create a character sheet, or track them some other way, but I've been trying to just use the first post in this thread as a placeholder for tracking data.Alethan wrote:I guess we're just noting them on the first post of the thread. No problem.
Re: 42
Well, if there is some way to see it, I'd like to look at the pregen character sheet... if not, no big deal.dmw71 wrote:You're welcome to create a character sheet, or track them some other way, but I've been trying to just use the first post in this thread as a placeholder for tracking data.Alethan wrote:I guess we're just noting them on the first post of the thread. Where are you buying these solo adventure modules, btw? And I assume they are digital format?

Re: 42
There actually isn't a character sheet, they just feed me details as part of a post, and say to record this information on a scrap piece of paper.Alethan wrote:Well, if there is some way to see it, I'd like to look at the pregen character sheet... if not, no big deal.
They're not even close to fully fleshed out characters, and they only give you the most necessary information for that particular task.
Except for one adventure, everything I've purchased been from the Paizo website. And, yes, my collection is 100% in the PDF format.Alethan wrote:Where are you buying these solo adventure modules, btw? And I assume they are digital format?
The artwork in their products (which you don't see when using the online SRD) is outstanding! If I did collect physical products, I would most certainly gobble their stuff up.
Re: 42
These will likely not do them justice as they're just screen grabs from my phone, but I should try to post some images from their core books because it's something to admire.dmw71 wrote:The artwork in their products (which you don't see when using the online SRD) is outstanding!

Actually, I quickly logged on from my work computer and they turned out much better than I expected.dmw71 wrote:These will likely not do them justice as they're just screen grabs from my phone.
It's good stuff. Very evocative. Their artwork definitely fills me with ideas when I see it.

Indeed!
Thanks so much for helping to fund them, D!

Re: Pathfinder Chat
Wow, just those three books are over 1,200 pages. I'd be afraid to get a total page count of everything I own (because it would be significantly higher than the number of pages actually read).
Re: Pathfinder Chat
While I didn't get the impression that it felt like an actual Pathfinder game, it was fun, and exciting to follow. If you want to attempt to run through it again, definitely let me know. Future runs through it should be a lot easier since I'l have many of the options already formatted correctly.
That said, assuming you're still interested of course, I'm thinking the best thing would be to jump right into a real game, and not some watered down solo game where most of the rules are stripped out.
I know I have a lot going on right now, but I do think I'm going to start actively looking through some of the adventures I've already purchased to see if I can find one that will be a more gentle introduction to the game.

Re: Pathfinder Chat
Yeah, I'd rather do that. Brutal solo adventure, though. Two wolves and then a dark warrior. If I'd had one or two better attack rolls with the fire arrows he would have survived.

Re: Pathfinder Chat
Hmm... I might break my first rule and arrange the stats a little to get something more fun to play. Just seems like whatever I play runs into the problem with the low Int/Wis scores.
Would rather try and set up a better character with my first few attempts than try and work within roll limitations.

Re: Pathfinder Chat
Definitely feel free. I'd encourage you to do just that, in fact.Alethan wrote:Hmm... I might break my first rule and arrange the stats a little to get something more fun to play.
Re: Pathfinder Chat
Regarding this, while I can't back this up with any first hand experience, I've heard that the game can be very challenging for 1st level characters. Yes, the characters are tougher than their AD&D counterparts, so, too are the challenges.Alethan wrote:...to get something more fun to play.
At the very least, I'm going to want to encourage players to use the 'heroic' generation method.
I also want to test sample builds using the 'high' (and even 'epic') point-buy methods to see how they shake out. I've heard, statistically, the 'high' point-buy system produces results very similar to 4d6c1.
Point-Buy Calculator
I've been mentally preparing myself for making the leap from the challenging 3d6 in order, and even the commonly accepted 4d6c1 method, into something more powerful.
That said, I'm still going to strongly encourage players to build to a concept, and not automatically build the most mechanically advantageous character (Paizo officially does as well). It's fine if it happens naturally, but I don't think, as a GM, I'll be able to embrace power gaming.
