Adair prays furiously and something happens! His friends feel their swings come easier, their movements with more purpose!
(minor bless)

Kennard slashes with his dagger and causes a small wound.

Anne is unlucky and isnt able to strike the Ogre.

Gustav runs into the dark cave.......

The Wilward brothers smash at the Ogre with their shovels , one smacks the creature in the arm.

Gunther rushes in and burns the creatures back. It roars and swings wildly.

Gared is able to take advantage of the distraction and lands a powerful blow on the Ogre's leg, it stumbles slightly.

Clay is lucky yet again and his sling stone flies through the air and hits the Ogre in the forehead with a meaty >THUNK!<

The Ogres eyes cross and blood drips down its face, It stumbles more, barely keeping its feet.

The huge club comes close to Gared, but does not connect.

The Ogre bleeds from many wounds and staggers, but roars and fights on!

Lobo & Napius are nowhere to be seen. You guess they have run off.

"The fool!" old Napius hisses and chases after Gustav with his lantern lit.

Clay Dreaver, former locksmith-journeyman
Clay was overwhelmed by the success he was having with the sling. He had only ever hunted rats and rabbit before and had had no idea it would be so effective on such a large beast. He loaded another stone and launched it at the dazed ogre, eager to scour the beast's cave for treasure. Maybe I don't need to return to locksmithing...

Gunther Biltimere, eighth son of a peasant farmer
Having branded a few cows growing up, the smell of seared flesh was no stranger to Gunther. but cows were not nearly as large and deadly. Gunther decided not to continue antagonizing the ogre, instead putting the sword to good use, slashing at the ogre's achilles tendons, hoping to hamstring the monster.

Gared Harth, surly woodcutter
Emboldened by the staggering form of their enemy, Gared doubles his efforts. He tries imagining the ogre is just a tree to fell. A large, moving tree that fights back... and my axe is a hammer... The visualization does not seem to work for him.

Undeterred, Anne the farm girl hacks away at the titan's legs once more. "Come on, boys!" she shouts eagerly.

The Ogre swings wildly in his rage, but misses completely again & again. His club means death, but he cannot connect. He looks around for another target, but is confused by being attacked by so many foes from so many directions at once. He also cant move around the trees as easily as you can.

Anne swings her axe, but misses again.

Gared hammer goes wide, as he dodges the Ogres club.

Gunther also fails in landing a blow.

Clay whirls his sling and the stone hits the Ogre in the head again! The Ogre stops in his tracks and drops to the ground with crash....unmoving.

Actions?

=======================

The Ogre rolled poorly every time to hit. Every time a miss!

Clay was extremely lucky- almost every time i rolled for him it was an 17, 18, or 19!

Gared Harth, surly woodcutter
Gared easily sidestepped the ogre as it crumpled to the earth. He circled to its head and hoisted the warhammer above his head. He brought it crashing into the skull of the monster. After making sure it was dead he set down the hammer and muttered, I hope your body feeds many a-bird and beast, Bolg.

Gunther Biltimere, eighth son of a peasant farmer
Gunther found the nearest rock and sat on it, still shaking with excitement. Well that was some excitement, right? What was that thing? Whatever it was, We killed it and now we're real-life heroes!

Clay Dreaver, former locksmith-journeyman
We certainly are. And to the victor go the spoils. Clay came out from the trees to inspect the now-dead ogre. He retrieved his stones and gold pieces. Let's find our spoils. After searching the dead body, Clay helped Gunther up and they went into the cave.

As long as they are sure the ogre is dead, my characters will enter the cave, Gareth and Gunther in front, Clay (with the key) bringing up the rear.

As you enter, you see Gustav and Napius dragging some sacks. A large sack lays in the corner, a large pile of Bones is against one wall, trash , bones and hunk are strewn about.

Kennard Harrisson; Town Gravedigger
Kennard enters the cave and heads over to fetch the large sack. As he passes Gustav and Napius he says "Thanks for grabbing those for all of us." His tone is flat and you don't know whether he is being sarcastic, accusatory, or simply making a statement. "Lets take these outside to see if there is anything we can use to find the merchant."

Adair Dabney; Merchant's Illegitimate Son
Adair stands where he is, warmth flooding his body. He couldn't believe what he had felt. A warmth had spread through him when he pleaded to the gods for their blessings. He knew without a doubt now that the gods truly cared for those who served them.

Kennard finds the huge sack mostly empty. It only has one sack in it. The sack has a large keg of brandy. Still sealed and of very fine quality. Probably worth quite a few gold coins itself.

The sacks that Napius and Gustav are hauling seem much fuller......

There is still the cave itself to explore, trash and bones are scattered about. Broken weapons and other refuse.

Gared Harth, surly woodcutter
As the others enter the cave, Gared approaches Adair. Hey. I caught glimpses of you over here praying as we were almost dying. Then everything started flowing better. Was that you and your god? Do you think you could teach me that trick?

Clay Dreaver, former locksmith-journeyman
Clay's eyes narrowed as he saw Gustav and Napius momentarily but he did not fancy a conflict out here. It could wait. Don't be in such a hurry. The ogre is dead. We might as well spend some time to uncover what we can. He lit a candle off the torch and started searching the cave, starting where the ogre had slept, then working around the walls. He had a key, and that meant there was a lock somewhere to be opened.

Gunther Biltimere, eighth son of a peasant farmer
We might as well camp out here, while we are at it. Who will help me find some firewood? Gunther started back to the woods to gather a supply of firewood, being sure to stay close to the cave entrance.

What time of day is it at this point? If it isn't really night time, then Gunther will just join in the search for better weapons and a shield.

The Wilward poke around the trash and find a few decent weapons. Two daggers, a hand axe, a short bow and a quiver of arrows. There are only six arrows, but they are of fine quality and scribed with runes. Magic?

One shirt of chain mail is damaged, but could be repaired. A shield is battered, but still worthy.

Laying along with the trash is a book. Ripped in half, damaged & stained, but a book of magic! Some deceased Wizards spell book.

It is only an hour past noon, the sun still bright.

Clay finds a large discolored stone door. A secret door? There is a key hole.

Gunther Biltimere, eighth son of a peasant farmer
Well some of that stuff seems useful. Better than shovels and pocket knives, anyhow. Napius and Gustav, what's in the sacks?

Clay Dreaver, former locksmith-journeyman
Clay listens at the door hoping to find out what is on the other side of it.

I am happy to let other folks grab the weapons and stuff. Then we can head through the door unless we have a substantial amount of coin and want to buy real equipment. And map
Making stuff...

Are you through searching the cave? Camping here? Heading back?

Clay thinks he heard voices talking on the other side of the door, but has no clue what they said or the language.

The sacks are full of coins, and a large wheel of cheese.

Gustav glares at Napius. "Uhh, the sacks? Not too much..."

Old Napius cranes his neck. "Eh? What's in the what now? OH, the SACKS! Just lots of MONEY!" the old mystic exclaims happily, and opens his bags for all to see.

Gustav throws up his hands in frustration.

i thought we had searched the entire cave. If not, Gunther will use his sword to prod through the bone piles looking all the way down to the ground. Clay will search along the walls more, tapping on the stone every once in a while to look for hollow sounds, etc, when Gared is done taking to Adair he will search the floors for hidden crates or trap doors. And the ceilings will get looked at too.

Clay finds a small crystal vial of sparkling blue liquid.

Gunther finds a strange bone. Not actually a bone at all, a scroll tube. It has a piece of parchment with several prayers to St. Cuthbert written on it.

Nothing else of value is found.
