Okay; the following will serve as a timeline of events pertaining SPECIFICALLY to the House of Valmont and our heroes….

-Unknown hundreds/thousands of years before Aegon's Landing (AL): A family of Andal warriors pledge their cause to the Storm Kings of the Stormlands.

-Approximately 1 year before the coronation of Aegon I (i.e. 260 years ago); Argilac Durrandon; the last Storm King; is killed fighting Aegon's forces and his only child and daughter Argella Durrandon is married to Aegon's leading General; Orys Barratheon. One of Argilac's warriors, a man by the name of Vallin of the Mountains, was badly wounded while heroically fighting and trying to save his King from Orys Barratheon. Inspired by the man's bravery and loyalty; Orys had his best healers see to him and when he recovered, he ennobled him.

-229 AL: The Lord of the Stormlands, Lyonel Baratehon, briefly rises in rebellion when his daughter's fiancé, Prince Duncan Targaryen marries a common girl named Jenny of Oldstones. The rebellion is quickly ended peacefully when Prince Duncan renounces his claim to the throne; the daughter of the King, Rhaelle Targaryen is sent to Storm's End to serve as a cup-bearer and upon reaching adulthood will marry Lyonel's heir, Steffon; and a Trial by Combat between Lyonel and Kingsguard commander Duncan the Tall is fought and won by Duncan; though Lyonel survives it

Though the rebellion is utterly stamped out; the Prince is killed in the fighting. 13 year old Raynald Valmont, who at this point is being mocked by many of his peers due to his inability to ride a horse like a proper Squire should; borrows a horse from the stables in the middle of the night and on his own, manages to ride several hundred miles to the battle-site of the rebellion and even manages to scare off some troops fighting for the Rat, the Hawk and the Pig by charging at them with a Lance, while on horseback and saving some hard-pressed royal troops. Young Raynald falls off the horse shortly after the rebels flee; and he is violently ill though determined to prove his mettle in combat. Eventually, he is accompanied back home by some royal troops and no-one ever doubts his courage again

-252 AL: Due to a mysterious 'incident'; 17 year old Keyth Storm leaves the Citadel and his maester's training and eventually travels across the Narrow Sea to the Free Cities. He spends some time in Myr, but eventually makes a home for himself in Tyrosh; even befriending the Archon after a time. This year also sees an 18 year old Darryn Drinkwater hunting game, uninvited, on lands belonging to a minor noble of the Reach (Lord Foller). Darryn is soon chased off the lands and he flees to his homeland of the Stormlands

-253 AL: Lord Valmont hosts a small tournament in the middle of a (relatively) mild winter and Darryn Drinkwater joins in a hunting competition and wins it by tracking down and killing an albino deer and presenting it to Lord Valmont. Impressed, Lord Valmont offers Darryn a position in the House as a Huntsman and Darryn gratefully accepts

-256 AL: Asher Valmont decides to make a name for himself as a swordsman by hopping a ship for Essos and becoming a sellsword in the Free Cities. His dedication to learning the art of the blade serves him well and he rapidly becomes a capable warrior

-258 AL: Asher Valmont's sellsword company engages in a fight with a small group of Dothraki warriors east of Quarth in Essos and while most Valmont's company defeats the Dothraki band, Asher engages in one-on-one combat with the leader of the Dothraki band. Asher kills the Dothraki warrior, but is grievously wounded on the neck and jaw by the warrior's Arakh. Another Dothraki warrior who witnesses the battle, Voqarro, barely survives and would not have had it not been for Asher's actions to save him. After recovering, Voqarro pledges his services to Asher for life to repay him. Also this year; a group of sellsword captains, Pirates and others come together in the Disputed Lands, under the tree of crowns and pledge to work together to gain a Kingdom for each. They call themselves the Band of Nine; and one of their members is a very wealthy Tyroshi merchant named Aleqeo Adarys. Soon the Band has gained control of much of the Disputed Lands; and due to a brilliant military campaign and internal dissent masterminded by Alequo; Tyrosh falls to them late in the year and the Archon is killed. Keyth Storm flees the city and quite by accident, falls in with his cousin Asher and Dothraki companion, Voqarro.

-259 AL: The Band of Nine's plans become known to all in the region; and upon hearing about it, Prince Duncan Targaryen was said to have made a joke about 'selling crown 9 to a penny'. Afterwards, most of Westeros takes to calling the Band of Nine; the '9 penny Kings'. Meanwhile, the Band of Nine land on several of the Stepstone islands and take them by force
