Please try & remember to post your character name & background (farmer, locksmith, etc) at the top of your posts. With so many characters (for now) I need to keep track.

Darkmane is out. Along with Idiot & SmokeWarrior.

We will need to divide up characters.

Gared Harth woodcutter
Str14
Dex13
Con11
Int10
Wis9
Ch8

Gared was always a simple woodcutter living off the land in a simple hut delivering wood to the local towns. He never wanted more than he had until his cousin Rodrick showed up from a job telling him of a scheme that could make them both rich so Gared packed up what little he had and set out towards the borderlands hoping that some day he would be able to return to his nice simple life.

Rodrick Harth caravan guard

Jeswrath ("Jack") - Town Drunk
Str:11 (0)
Dex:10 (0)
Con:9 (0)
Int:17 (+2 lang)
Wis:8 (-1 save)
Chr:13 (-1, 5, 8)
Maybe he just knows too much for his own damn good. Middle aged, thinning hair, tall, lean, and alcoholic. He's been known to speak a few different languages when really loaded up. His stories have earned him a bit of a following in the local bars, but as his coin is running out he is looking to adventuring to earn some quick coin. Nobody knows how he came to this outpost at the edge of the mountains or why.

Horace
Str: 15 (+1)
Dex:9 (0)
Con:15 (+1 HP)
Int:8 (Partial ability to write)
Wis: 17 (+2 save)
Chr:11 (0,4,7)
A young man, with one blue eye and one grey eye, smells of incense, mumbles under his breath. Folks believe he was some kind of monk or acolyte in a remote church or monastery.

*6/19 Updated: modified stats, added bonuses/penalties

HP-4 each

Jack
10 silvers
2 bottles of hooch

Horace
10 silvers
club
tinderbox
incense
3 candles
(gets strange visions)

Rusty has the Woodcutter, so the rest are up for grabs-pick one. Other info , like items, background, etc should be on the recruiting thread.

I see some still have not posted finished characters- please do so.

Hey Bloodaxe. I remember someone asking about languages, but I cannot find/remember your response. I have two characters that should know +1 language.

Seems shady for me to pick now (because you know I want to pick hobgoblin...). Would you like to pick? The characters are:
Clay the former locksmith's apprentice - lived in cities his whole life
Gareth the woodcutter-but-soon-to-be-druid - lived in the woods his whole life

If I have to choose, what are the options available?

So we still have a chance to get supplies. Clay managed to score 20gps in town from a cleric, as well as the stuff I mentioned. If we need anything, please persuade him to front you the cash for it. (I bought 50' rope for Gareth the woodcutter to carry.

Here is what is available:

backpack - sold to Gareth for a promise of 5 sp
chainmail - given to Gunther for his share of the loot and lots of protection
warhammer - 1 gp and 5 sp
mace - 1 gp
lantern - 3 gp
two flasks of oil - 5 cp
tinderbox - sold to Gareth for 5 sp.
Leather armor - free to borrow from Gunther the peasant, yours to keep if he dies.

And Gareth the woodcutter is thinking of trading in his axes for the warhammer. Does anyone want an axe or two?

edit:
@bloodaxe: Can I just change my money freely or do you want to role play heading to the bank? I'd like to trade my gold for platinum for weight reasons. Clay isn't that strong.

Thats fine- you may have to pay a few coppers to exchange, nothing is free.

Ok, I'm just getting ready to shuffle off to the caves with a shovel and a jar of poop.

I have that same exact bumper sticker on my car!!!

Clay isn't sharing the story just yet, but as a player you can know I did a bit of on-my-own stuff through PMs with Bloodaxe. While searching for information and poison for my dagger I met a priest and he wants to support people fighting evil. Clay isn't as nice though and isn't passing along the free stuff. (I am charging my other characters, even. ) It is still a great deal, and if you buy on credit and he dies... It's your for free!

So if you want any gear, speak up. Please!

(Clay might be willing to work a trade with you for some poop but he doesn't know enough about your hobby to ask for it from you.)

I was looking through everyone's characters and noticed that I am the only person to have bought anything for my characters. Are you all heading into the caves without anything else?

It's your choice. No matter what you choose, you will have significantly less than a starting level 1 character.

I haven't played D&D in years and everyone handled provisions differently, but having just played a PBP of Torchbearer I am acutely aware of the non-martial aspects of dungeon crawling: eating, sleeping and light. Hence why I went ahead an bought stuff.

Bloodaxe, how much of a stickler are you for that stuff?

And I want to exchange my 23 gold, 22 silvers, 9 coppers, turning them into 2 platinum, 5 gold, 2 silvers and some coppers. What will that cost me? Thanks.

I answered in other thread, two coppers. Guess you missed it. I don't do strict encumbrance. Just be reasonable, or I'll let you know.

When you have finished posting your final characters, add any extra equipment you bought, and are ready- you can begin to leave the Keep and start the real adventure.
