IV. Uncharted Island
Re: IV. Uncharted Island
Morgan says Let's return to the first, small building and investigate the hole going down with the ladder. Who cares if we intrude on the tribesmen's area... I'd rather deal with them than a pack of filthy lizard men.
"Sir, our research shows that the bird is equal to or greater than the word."
Re: IV. Uncharted Island
The group escapes the lizard men and return to the 20-by-30-foot aged stone structure with some missing stones from its outer walls. Two larger trees are found at the northwest and southeast corners of the outpost building, and there is a single cutout entrance on the far west wall. The inside of the small building is mostly bare, with a natural dirt floor. There are signs of use, including a small, somewhat recently used firepit in the northeast corner, but it is otherwise unoccupied at the moment. A naturally dug hole in the center of the structure, just wide enough to fit a large human through it, leads down, with a rope ladder secured leading down.

Re: IV. Uncharted Island
Morgan will peer down into the hole, looking for light, foes, etc. Is there a breeze coming from the hole? Any odd smells?

Re: IV. Uncharted Island
Peering into the hole, Morgan notices that the rope ladder goes down approximately 30-feet. The entire length is dark, and there are no noises, smells, or breezes detected.
Re: IV. Uncharted Island
Elias peered into the hole alongside Morgan. "You think they just live underground like that? I can't imagine they'll be receptive to visitors."

They didn't seem hostile to us and, we did help them by eliminating the gnolls. Maybe they would have a positive response to a gift of some sort?

He puffs on his pipe a couple of times. "What say we lower a torch?"
Re: IV. Uncharted Island
Morgan says Agreed... shall we just toss one down there or tie it to a rope?AleBelly wrote:"What say we lower a torch?"

Pendleton watches and waits.
Re: IV. Uncharted Island
A torch is lowered down the 30-foot drop and, as it sets down on the ground, it illuminates a small landing, with a single passage heading north.
There doesn't seem to be any reaction to the sudden arrival of the light source on the lower level.

"Time to head on down," says Pendleton. "I'll be right behind you."
